I sailed in the Merchant Navy for many years with my old mate Eddy Hall, a Roma and he was a great shipmate and a perfect gentleman without an enemy in the world.
You passed away far too young Eddy. Gone maybe, but always fondly remembered, twenty years later I often remember those happy days.

These people are proper gypsies mate not the gypsies town people know of. We all lived a simple life like gypsies at one point in time just most of us have been brain washed into living the way we do today. A proper gypsy would never steal off your field but would work on your field to earn some food from the farmer, an honest days living my friend.

A lot of people make this confusion on travelers, some thinks if you travel you are a gypsy. Or if you say you are a traveler then you are a gypsy. I think those ideas are from the past when the gypsys people migrated to Europe.

What a lovely video. Beautiful horses and nice people. I had many British Roma gypsy friends when I was growing up and they were loyal and decent people.
I am just an ordinary bloke who has travelled the country in my work and had some nice talks with gypsies when I've pulled over in lay-bys or a quiet back lane somewhere for a rest- I have mostly stopped to ask ok to take a picture of their horses or caravans if decorated and always kind .We are all the same and I think this guy is a good example of living a life differently but cherishing values of treating each other with respect and kindness- I wish him and all people well.

I'm glad I found this documentary, In Cardiff (Wales) There are so many bad gypsies, Fighting, stealing, and worst of all praying on vulnerable people, tarmacking their drives, overcharging doing a bad job and not even finishing, I would absolutely love to have nice gypsies around, just like you.

I'm 43 years, grew up in a council house with a single mother, I joined as a regular soldier when I was sixteen years. Four years I served then joined the TA. I never fit in, three years ago I met my now fiancee she is Romani, and after doing my family tree and finding my absent father I found out he is Romani so that makes me Romani, yes it's in the blood. Down my mothers side I can trace my ancestors as Lords, Shertiffs, MP's, Barons, Archbishops and Kings. I'd like someone to say to my face I'm not British.

When we used to go calling my old dad would always say Dnt take anything without the owners permission he learned us . Ok when we picked povies apples we would take a couple home to make a pie . Which was not like going out chorring scrap or running away with someone lawn mower which we uesd to sharpen down the streets

Maybe you are just un-educated datkid56 (no offence intended).
The way you are thinking is the way in which a lot of non-gypsies like to portray them, which is in fact far from the truth.
They are just as human as the next person regardless of race, religious beliefs etc. Just because the vast majority of them live on camps. does not mean that they are poor. Some of the Trailers (caravans) cost as much as a house to buy. Respect them and they will respect you. They are not bad people.

I agree with educating the kids..Homosexuality was once a dirty word..as was transsexual..just try discriminating against those people and see what happens..you would soon be in court. (I have a gay son and nephew..I love them both. To be a homosexual in my younger days was tough, all kinds of degrading names were used to describe them. Education more or less stopped that..but there are still those who, well you know ? May be too late for those but not for the younger generation growing up. Educate, educate, educate. My wife, now sadly passed, was Jewish..need I say more. I belong to a mixed family..2 gay family members, a Pakistani grandson, a Philippine sister in law, a Turkish/Kurd brother in law, a now deceased bisexual sister, a now deceased gypsy aunt, my now deceased Jewish wife and living brother in law, whom I take care of..he is 80. So predgedist I/we, are not. Oh yes..my grandson is a Muslim.. from a Pakistani, Muslim father. We have a very colourful mixed paint box of colours...I love it. When I lived in the UK..our parties were also colourful. Live and let live. The world, like life, is only difficult, if you make it so. The only people I have anything against are politicians and media people. Then again. I am not alone in that. You trust them at your own risk. A government health warning should be put on them. 😉😀

My own feelings about people who are predgedist...It is their problem..not mine. There is something wrong in the minds or lives or both, of these people. My philosophy is..live and let live. There is predgedism..just about everywhere..Gays, homosexuality, race, religion, the unemployed, the homeless and many more. What is wrong with these people ? Are they so unhappy with their own lives that they need someone to look down on, even hate for no apparent reason. It's all in their heads...or they have learned it in the home. Sad..so sad. I will give you that "traveller" suggests actually doing the act of travelling. You're correct there, but as groups living outside of gorja regulations, this is legally difficult to do post 1960.
"Romani" doesn't mean from Romania. At least not in English, we have "Romanian" for that. If that's a problem for you take it up with the English language, but you might want to look into the history of both words first. "Romani" comes from "Romanichal" or "Romnichal", which means "people of Roma" or "people of Rom". Roma or Rom is historically linked to India and Persia. It is likely, but I haven't fully researched it, that Romania got its name from its concentrated population of these people.
"Gypsy" is old English for "Egyptian", as that's where the English believed they had come from at first. Even after the English learned the difference, the name stuck.
