Sorry once again for the occasional pixelation in the picture. I've solved the problem now, but I think you'll only see the results in my 'next-but-one' video.
I was skeptical when trying this Summer. Looked so easy. Got 15 babies from a single leaf tip cutting in perlite. I pulled them all, poted them under plastic domes... and kept the leaf because it had roots and micro babies still on it. P.S. : It was a variety with much wider leaves.
Enjoyed watching, Geoff. I haven't tried your second method but will soon. I will be very interested in seeing how these do. I used to have 'Bethan'. 😊 Susan.
Thanks Susan - it's a first for me too so let's see how it goes. To be honest I could have done with some larger leaves and of course it's the wrong time of year - but nothing lost if they don't don't work - I'll just try again. :)
That video is from Jan 2020 so I can't really recall exactly what happened! Except for to say that both methods work pretty well - but there is variation depending on the hybrid and when in the season you do them. January isn't the best time just from a lighting and temperature perspective - but I usually don't let that stop me! If I were taking them again I'd use the 'chopping into sections' method as it seems to have a greater success rate in my conditions - but both did work to some degree.
Streptocarpus are very common and popular. If you live in the UK or any EU country, you can order online at www.dibleys-shop.com - there are plenty of other sources, just Google it. Good luck!
Yes . Cut the new growth branches into 3 to 4 inch pieces add water soak over night strain and you have hormone water. Lasts up to 3 months in fridge.... Happy growing

👏
I look forward to seeing the progress! Thanks for sharing Geoff.
Thanks Ruth I appreciate it.😻

Yeah they're very easy to propagate just from a single leaf - better going for a younger one though. Please to hear it worked well for you. 😀
Nice video Geoff, will follow their progress.
Cheers Mick.

Any joy following these propagations, Geoff?

This looks to be a super rare plant. Any idea where they can be found?

Geoff..... when i try this I am lucky to have a willow tree so I can make juice from branches that helps.....Thank you for all of your time..... Ron
Willow tree juice? Sounds delicious!🤢 Thanks for watching, Ron.

Ah I thought you meant for you to drink! 🤣 Yes that's a very convenient and organic method. Thanks for the tip, Ron!
Hello! I’m wondering how wet should I make the soil when propagating?
On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being bone dry and 10 being waterlogged, you need to aim between 4 and 7 - I'd call that 'moist'.
