I had an 85 GSL back in 1990. I bought the car with something like 6000 miles on it drove it to 150,000. Probably the funniest car I’ve ever owned.

I have the same 85 9:51 RX7 GSL-SE in red but with red leather. Got it in 2016 from the second owner that bought it in 2013 after the original one passed away. Mine has 155k on the original engine. Still runs and drives great. This one is too nice to drive, it belongs in a car museum. Although if it was driven there are a lot of fun miles in it. It would be the star of any Cars and Coffee. Good luck with Bring a Trailer. A 860 mile 85 RX7 GSL sold for $42,250 this past week. This car should sell for the same or maybe more.

Very nice there only fun when you drive them up to the rev limit it easy do well over 7000 rpm i use to drive mine to 9000 rpm for years lol.. They handle great at high speed as well :).. Pretty sure PDR repair on the fender and you never know it had any dents there .. Good PDR person could fix that .. Prolly the best i have seen.. Mine looked worst after being 1 years old lol..
For sure these rotary engines love those high rpms! They are a blast to drive. You are correct about the dents. None of them are creased and could be easily removed via PDR.
