When I lived there Kai Tak was still operational and was probably one of the most unique landings anywhere,, significant right turn with barely parallel at minimums.. and a short runway to boot,, easy access with the aroma of the city and harbor hitting you upon departure of terminal.. they needed a new intl airport and Chek Lao Kok is great and gave been through it many times but I miss Kai Tak and as I could see my residence on final weather permitting and the feeling of almost home. What a great city and great people.

I worked in the tower at Kai Tak for 1 year and 2 years in CLK. I can't believe how much the new airport has grown! Kai Tak was a great place to watch airplanes land, wasn't it. It was just too small and in a crazy location to continue safely operating.

It amazes me how much quieter it gets once the gear goes up.. wind noise is almost non-existent without the extra drag.

I heard that the moment I was most nervous just before takeoff.
Still, it is one of the professions desired by multiple people living in a coordinated way.
    I'm jealous.

Great video! This was the «old» SK964 HKG-ARN with a midday dep. The «new» SK966 is to CPH with a 1am dep. Do you have some BU gems to share?

I’m guessing that the pilot flying was the co-pilot as they planes nose was to the left of the centre line

@JustPlanes How do you get permission to get into the cockpit. I have to choose an internship at my school and I have chosen pilot. So, how can I also get permission to get into the cockpit?

Hey there. We have been doing this for 28 years and have filmed in the cockpit of nearly 300 airlines so it’s our experience that helps us get invited by airlines.
