Its probably been said already, but Modders have saved Cities Skylines II content.
Just like CS1 to be honest.
So what's new?
Saved CSL1 as well lmao
A lot of the mods just make the stuff locked away by the Dev Mode available and more user-friendly but I agree. All I want from CO is to fix the performance now.
I'm not ready to go back. Still feel conned by Paradox.
As an official member of train guy club, I can tell you that a parking lane for trains is called a "siding" - you're welcome! Love your content mate!
Really wow! ❤
HE’S BACK! ❤ insane, this is the two dollars content I love to see… unseen techniques, innovation and a whole bunch of creativity… those catenaries, road wear and grass tufts are amazing new techniques! I’m so glad to be able to help give you the tools you’ve been waiting for 🙌
Thank you for the work you put into this game. Where can I find your river bed surfaces? I didn't see you publish it on pdx mods
@@nguyenston_hopefully released today, they were delayed unfortunately, I had to change something
You and the other modders are out here saving CS2. Thank you for your efforts😊
@@sully_skylines Haha I thought I was going crazy as I couldnt find them. Looking forward. Thank you so much!
Couldn’t be possible without you guys!
that side tracks near the train maintenance building should be ig converted into subway tracks for the later part when the city gets big enough to build an on-grade subway station there or tram station , to make the central station a transit hub
Oooo I like that idea a lot!
I totally agree, it could also be the start of a tunnel for other trains from the other sides of the city. I think of it as a later need for the city (when it starts to grow more) to make this huge important station a multidirectional one rather than just a terminal
definitely an option, and a thing that happens a ton with new lines as its super easy in terms of paperwork and construction
I always said this from the very beginning, the textures are far too smooth and airbrushed. It's like the game engine is powered by Microsoft Paint. Thank god for modders!
So true! I’m not sure if that was intentional or just an oversight but it’s my biggest complaint. It’s be interesting to see if custom assets will change all that
The textures are really bland but that does present some flexibility for modded players soo I'm not complaining
It's very playdohy. I know comparing to Manor Lords is a tired argument (plus that game runs on Unreal) but just comparing the topographical details leaves a lot to be desired
think i will get bettter😂. CS1 looks nice, but vanilla is also too cartoonish for me. But just look at modded cities and compare YT-Clips with Vanilla builders. This too sometimes looks like totally different games.
Damn, really ? I unistalled it 4 month ago ? Is it worth installing and playing again ???
I can hear the enthusiasm in your voice. Modders are really saving this game.
Modders made the first one great. None of these games were what they ended up being out of the box. It was only a matter of time before the modders stepped in and turned things up.
@@Overqualified1 exactly. Vanilla CS1 is trash
Amazing strategy for engagement knowing we will watch every frame like a hawk when he says “don’t look” 👀
You can delete the trains using the second option (from left to right) of better bulldozer. It's something like gameplay manipulation. It allows to delete vehicles!
Great video!
No,some vehicles can only be despawned by the button in developmode
This level of detailing is what makes CS videos so fun to watch for me. I absolutely cannot wait to see how you go on with detailing the rest of the map. This series has some new steam (pun intended), and I'm here for it!
I agree totally has new steam!
I'll wait another year before diving into Cities Skylines 2. While I am eager to explore the new features, waiting for the game to be more polished will enhance my overall experience. Additionally, I am looking forward to a wider selection of mods becoming available before I give it a try.
yep, its great to see such important mods appearing to bring the game back up to a level similar to CS1, but itll be a turbulent time of patches breaking everything and bugs in the mods breaking everything, needs some time to mature.
I reckon it’s an about a year away from being something awesome. Mods are helping but there’s still a lot more I’d like to see improved (economy, graphics, small things like construction animations)
34:20 One "trick you haven't figured out yet" that could work in this situation is to use the moveit analog to node controller, which is holding alt. It lets you manipulate junctions and make them wider!
i saw this in an image on the mod page and had no idea how to use it so cheers lol
Those tracks next to the station and after the depo could maybe be turned into a bus/tram terminal?
Love the build!
The overhead shot at 36:26 looks amazing. I don’t know if that’s a different colour setting then but it sold the effort to me.
So at the actually Haboken Terminal, they have a fairly large bus terminal. That could be a nice addition where you currently have those extra tracks next to the building
i'd say to add barrier gates to the access points to the maintenance yards, so it looks like not just anyone can wander in. maybe some 'warning - danger' signs etc.
Easily the best CS2 video yet, across all of YT. Great to see that the game may have a new lease on life now.
This was the right video at the right time for me - I haven’t been able to keep up with the past few uploads. Now, after making it 30 seconds in, I can’t wait to finish this episode. So glad to see the potential of this game beginning to be fulfilled.
Hey bud! Thanks so much. Have you been playing much recently?
@@twodollarstwenty I’ve barely had time to stay up to date, much less play. I’m hoping to upgrade a few components before I really get into playing again.
I haven't read the comments yet and it's probably been said but those kinda places usually have like a ton of graffiti! You could add some on the walls and maybe on some trains if it allows it
This is your first CSII video that really feels like it can extract what you are capable of building. Looking forward to see your CSII videos!
I so much hope this is now slowly bringing people back! its so so good and catching up to C:S1 much now!
also 4:40 sounds so much like sim city 2015 LOL
Wow that's really inspring to get us back to cities skylines 2! You probably achieved greater detail than I ever will.
TRAINS! Love the mods makes the gameplay super interesting. Thanks for the vid
Look what you're able to do with those tools now! I'm so excited to see your builds with an actual way to achieve them
Man I love the detail you go into of these videos. I feel like I can binge hours of these videos.
I love it. It is so nice to see you finally able to detail in cs2.
Ngl it is soo good to see you back in love with this game. Can't wait for the all the new work that's gonna come out of this
To remove _ALL_ the trains (and other untouchable props) at the moment the only solution I've found that works in a non neutron-bpmb style is to go into the DevUI --> Simulation --> Remove obsolete entities
Next level showcase of the new stuff and just general detailing mate. Top dollar!
The walkways! I'd missed those... perfect for my four-track rail network! Or at least post-placement for now...
Something to tweak? Use manipulation mode of MoveIt (Alt-M) to smoothen out some of your switches. Also, the new Traffic mod also works on rail! You can disconnect some of those auto-connected lines to reduce the number of switches...
Great build, nice to see CSII coming along. The two roads into the train yard needs a barrier or some sort of security I think. :)
Don't use move it to move a network, you can just take the network you want to move with picker mod, click update button and disable all snapping. If u need a better fit just redraw the network with paralel and repeat steps above, you can get them superclose together.
Thats how i made my custom station.
Move its is good for when they have to move up and down or small adjustments, but the update and slide method is way faster for networks at least.
Also the trains and stuff arent props, they are actually vehicles. Of you want you can download the prop pack and redo the trains, becaus eventually these will dissapear.
If you want to remove rhe trains and vehicles you placed, activate developmode and ingame press tab, simulation and remove all vehicles button. It will remove all traffic but that will spawn in again.
Hope this helps everyone
Cheers!
Interesting theory about move it, i will have to try this for myself.
I think that somenthing that would really make the difference at the city is going to the historicals places/buildings, the points of interest (etc...) of the city and giving them a revamp and detailing them so that they can be unique.
A thing I just did in my city is use the greenhouses as a glass roof over my train station. Yours looks great but might be something to try out
There is one obvious things missing that is probably in every railyard: graffitis and sprays
Great build!
Been waiting for this one. Thank you! CS2 is coming along.
I'd love to see some detailed platforms and a rebuilt roof of the station with some glass or gaps so we can see in the top.
I also think either the side behind the maintenance shed or the front with the parking lots could become a bus station.
This was just fantastic. Waov what a great builder you are and so full of fantasy to fond out what to use. Thanks for it. There is some small ideal growing in me. I Will come back to learn.
Nice to see the game has finally reached the Alpha stage! 🥳🙌
(Also *cough Sunset City when *coguh)
and just like that the series went back to a glorified level editor
To delete trains and vehicles (because ALL vehicles act like this) you need to press the "Remove Moving Objects and Cims" button on the bulldozer. It should be the second option from the left.
Ok thank you I’ll give it a crack
I know I'm late to the party here, but you'd probably want a rank of vans somewhere around the train yard - these would be used by your engineers, and your area managers as first response to any train incidents! Might also be cool to add an office block to act as the operational and signalling centre :)
fantastic. this is why i watch your channel. thanks modders!
That little stop to the side could be the old station that was serviced by older steam trains. We need steam trains.
We often have advertising boards next to the tracks in front of the stations where the train only runs slowly. In CS1, this was a must-have for me at passenger stations
Maybe behind the maintenance shed there could be a historical steam train or museum type showcase.
You could enter from a door in the side of the main station to access this.
Hope we get assets to do this soon.
Great video, one detail which was missing and I thought glaringly obvious was the lack of signals for the trains. I don't know if such an asset exists but it would certainly add to the look and feel
Really loved this episode! Cities are finally really starting to feel unique and realistic 👌
Great vid, you sound like your enjoying this build way more then the struggle you've had with the lack of potential for creativity in the game thus far, CS2 sis being saved by its community.
This is a real game changer for anyone who likes to detail and design their own assets.
Hay, when moving networks, you can click alt+m when MoveIt is on and then click the dots till they turn pink. This givea more control over networks. Take care, Old Bore
That's so aesthetic! Great video!
The trick with the roads (moveit) is that the height/vertical and angles on the vertical axis are a cubic bezier as well now, so just like the horizontal nodes with the inner dots that decide how much curve the road has, the vertical angle is also decided by those points' elevation.
Keep that extra station.. when we have smaller, shorter trains, you can swap out the train model and have that as a regional / overflow platform a little like how Cardiff Central has Platform 0 :)
We are so back! The future of this game is finally looking brighter, thanks modders
I'd add a shunter or two to those sidings and some mail vans (wagons) with maybe an adjacent mail building.
Looking fantastic 👌
"You're going to love this" HE'S BACK TO CS1?! F-YEAH!
Oh wait oh darn this game again...
Looks amazing. Not sure how long that would have taken, I have a feeling it was a very long build but wow…it looks fantastic.
I still haven't even built my first city yet with CS2. I am waiting for a few more updates and some more modding, then I'm sure there is loads of fun to be had.
Guess I'm not the only one who wanted the game to be like this from its start.
That separate stop behind the maintenance shed could be for the diesel powered country-link trains for rural stops. Sydney central stations platform one used to be.
Just tried these today, it really made the difference. Now i only need more assets and buildings so i can build the parisian city i deserve
man has turned this railyard from a clean new location to a literal dump (as respectfully as possible lol)
Thanks for the awesome video!
We getting back into classic TDT DETAILING WITH THIS ONE 🗣💵🪙
Fantastic build!
It's crazy all those things are not in the base game. For a SECOND ITERATION even ! What the hell are CO doing !?
Cheers for the shout out!
Keep up the great work 😊
Something that might help with those track wiggles, if you hold alt when you click on a segment via move it then you can manipulate the little nodes you see in terms of angle, distance, height, etc. really helps for getting those exact slopes and curves you want! :D
Not here exactly for City Plopping or City Painting (urban design) but City Skylines (urban and transport planning) to which still a couple of years behind CS. That said couple of the mods out including Traffic, and this new one allowing for three storey mixed use rather than the 6-8 we have in vanilla certainly helps with those town centres and villages
Not sure if this has been said, I think you need some kind of gate\entrance to the train yard from the street. It wouldn’t be open like that. As the rail lines exit the yard and cross the first road maybe they can be raised up into embankments. That feels like a more natural way for trains to create a grade separation yet I rarely see it used in CS 2.
Modders for the win. Saving the day yet again and allowing great details such as yourself to do what you do best! All stuff that should have been baked into the base game of course. You're missing some graffiti on the parked trains, on the underpass and on the back of any buildings that are passed by the train routes. And if you can snap graffiti to surfaces, can you snap them to the public transit assets? Because seeing working CS2 trains with actual graffiti on them would be ultra realistic.
The ability to make custom paths and put/delete details on building is a game changer!
Love it. I've started playing again.
the details at the end look sick with like the surface painter and shrubs
I would love a crime scene by the containers at the car park by the central station. This could also be part of a story like in Sunset City
"Train parking bay" distinct slow routes off main lines, spurs, and branch lines are called Sidings. That area would be called a siding stub, or dead end siding.
That station looks epic! Its 500 times better than anything id have done 😅
That outside line could be a local service serving the neighbourhood over the road - and as such use a smaller train.
Looking great! You might want to add a few more catenary structures close to switches which will give a nice cluttered result :) oh and that train entering the station close to the three parked trains looks dangerous, it better uses the the main line that goes around those sidings ;) looking forward to next videos!
Thank you I’ll add some more!
A bus stop at the Grand central station would be desirable, i guess 😅
Its a missed opportunity that a lot of the stuf these mods do aren't in the base game. But thank god for mods. They made CS1 so much better and the same is happening with CS2! can't wait for whats next in the modding world
that section next to the main station is perfect for a high speed rail train stop. Typically you see these stations being ultra modern comapred to the rest of the station, having been new additions compared to the old style of the main station. Perhaps a future build could see this station being created and a high speed rail line connecting this city to the eventual new york which will be created in the bay, connecting the two main cities with an ultra fast train connection
wow this looks absolutely incredible
I recently reset my pc and could not be bothered to redownload CS2. I think you have inspired me to give it another go. Thank you
update 22gb is done
This is a big step in making cities unique, personally I don’t see me retuning to CS2 until the bridges and harbours update as well as fixing the challenge of the game and city life such as skaters at the skate park, football games etc. I don’t just want a city decorator, I want a sim.
Hey! great video! just wanted to ask about if the mic/voice changes in the recent videos at certain parts are intentional. want to make sure that it sounds a bit different sometimes and that it is not some weird bug.
I was able to hear mouse clicking too
Wowwww 10 min in, and I am SO impressed how far you have come with this game. Beautiful!
I'm 6 minutes into this video. Played 20 hours of the game when it launched and I'm launching it again now, inspired by your vid! P.S better bulldozer looks great!
Fantastic news enjoy!
24:08 FYI Better Bulldozer has an option to delete 'gameplay items' which can get rid of the train cars.
CS II looks cool now might buy it ....Amazing vid tho :)
Am I the only one reminded of Flinders Street Station (In Melbourne) by the train station he built?
It’s exactly what I was thinking as I built it!
They wouldn't be animated, but you could keep shunt locomotives in that spare space past the maintenance depot
I think you can snap to props with the snap to surface feature. It works with trees and props on buildings from what I've found
I did recently start dabbling in this game again thanks to mods. For me to play I need different maps to try out and various tools from CS1.
City Skylines 2 needs to add a feature where the more used roads progressively get more damaged over time.
They go that already, if you don't put down the maintenance building the roads gets cracks on them
Love what you have done. Beside the station where the trains are going you said feels like it needs something. I would say maybe a bus terminal .. I know in Brisbane where I live Roma S Station has a massive bus terminal attached. Just an idea :)
Great idea! And thank you
If I'd taken a shot every time bro said "bits and pieces", I'd be in detox for the 5th time today
looks like detailing is back on the menu!
A major commercial development would attract more people near the central station, a great real life recreation around the world!
Are there small ploppable block services so that your station restaurant, for example, can be functional?
I haven't gotten into CS2 yet, but are the textures supposed to look like that? I mean they look like Cities Skylines with low textures. Like there's some issue with switching LOD levels or something.
