I'm not tired of these competitions at all. I laugh so hard regularly. The oddball aircraft, sonic boom tower buzzes, and F16s going VTOL. All pure gold.

Sat here on my ass in hospital for the 6th day running, sweating my balls into oblivion, burning through veins like a bawss, and I really needed a laugh. Cap's groin sweat sounds pretty good right about now.
Cap and his videos including his tutorials were a factor in me jumping into DCS. ED should be working with guys like you and Spud to grow the community. Your time and effort has saved me much frustration in the F18!

Heya Cap - got an idea for a challenging carrier landing competition, based on the birds and the bees.
1st round as "normal" (with whatever variations you want to include to make it more challenging, like in this vid).
In all subsequent rounds, players who are "out" all spawn in warbirds, and try to shoot down the players who got through.
This would make your job, as the first man each round, much more difficult, as you'd be the only target for the warbirds, so you'd need to think of a way around that.
One possibility would be for all the players after round one to spawn at once. Perhaps they could have guns only, (or maybe one missile each)? There would then be a cool dynamic where players with the objective of landing have to decide whether to just try to land, or whether to attack the warbirds first - and if they go for the warbirds, they'd have to decide when to land (because of limited fuel).
It would of course get progressively more difficult as more people end up flying warbirds each round.
Might be hectic and fun!
Another possibility would be to pair one player in a warbird with one player in a jet - but that could take a long time as you'd have to let each pair play out before the next spawn. You could maybe address this by limiting the number of players - it could be just people who have won previous competitions, or the top 3 from previous competitions... That wouldn't fit with the session being public, but I think it could be a fun video all the same.

It's the Forrestal because not everyone has the Supercarrier module. It's a functional carrier everyone has access to.

I've been flying since I was 9 years old.
I've never gotten a license because I'm deaf and hard of hearing. That would only allow me to fly by myself.
The purpose of my pilot's license was the ability to fly my family around, the way I was raised.
My hearing also kept me from the military and becoming an astronaut.
Today, if I want to fly. I go out to the airport, find a student pilot school and pay around $200.00/ hour, When I started flying with a pilot school, it cost $86.00/ hr.
Growing up around airport's. I would walk around to see if anyone was going flying. I would walk up to them and ask if I could go with them? Most would ask where my parents are. After telling them, we would walk down to our hanger. Where they could meet my parents and let them know where I was going to be.
Growing up, it didn't matter where we went or what we did, as long as we where back by dark.

I would not say i got bored of it. Of course don't do it every week, but every now and then it's quite nice.
How about a drunken admiral, but you have to maintain 500 feet, then bailout over the carrier, and land on the boat under chute. Be really fun with crazy winds...lol
Or even overland, just hit the target. Closest to target wins. Under parachute of course

I think I figured the carrier approach out. When the carrier is turning right, you want to come in from the far _left_ and let the boat line itself up with you. Same thing only reversed when the boat is turning left; you come in from far _right_ . There should be a few seconds where you have a straight approach with the flight deck. Takes some wicked timing but it's gotta be better than trying to rudder yourself crazy at the last second.

Yeah, its the same idea as shooting a moving target. You dont aim directly at the target, you aim a bit ahead of the target, so the target moves into the projectile as it flys

The next carrier landing challenge, all aircraft will be required to try and land with max load on the aircraft. Like a full load of bombs, and they can't drop the ordinance. Overload the aircraft and see who can land without blowing up the carrier!
You guys should do an airshow... Like the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds. Close formation and trick flying.

Suggestion for a new carrier landing challenge: Approach the carrier upside down and the pilot that rolls around the shortest amount of time before actually landing wins.
do the British even know what a hot is now 45 degrees celsius that is hot even from where I am in Australia where the average summer temp is around 30 to 35 degrees celsius and loved the video BTW

Used to live on Randolph AFB in San Antonio when my father was stationed there. Went to one airshow there years later that hit 106 F on the flightline. Luckily wife and I were used to the heat, but had to cool down my youngest child so he wouldn't get heat stroke.
Im still waiting for the brave or stupid enough person to take a propeller driven ww2 plane or something during strong wind.

Try executing the same mission with the aircraft carrier set to continuously turn 360 degrees to port in a circular pattern.
I tried to do that for round 3 but the seas were to rough to get the ship to respond properly
Thanks for your quick reply! How about pointing the ship away from the wind, without turning, instead of normally pointing the ship into the wind. This would create tail wind for the landing aircraft causing them to fly faster overshooting the aircraft carrier's landing deck. Food for thought...
@@thesandwichfreak3780 so we had some limitations, 1 the shore was too close to the east, 2 because we of the limited fuel I couldn’t sail to far from the jet spawn point. My intent was round 1 make 45 degree turns on 30 seconds after the minute, round 2 full 90 degree turns, and round 3 180 degree turns. - ApocalypseRider
Can you point a stationary aircraft carrier (a nonmoving ship) away from the wind in an attempt to accomplish the previously suggested carrier landing challenge?

wow pilots licenses in the uk are so expensive, in canada mine is costing me approximately $10k Canadian
It's almost 30k USD in the states... I remember when it was 14k and even then it we thought it was expensive. Aviation isn't a poor man's sport.
