Can you get a C130 or A400 on there?
No but supercarrier works: czcams.com/video/hVheIj1kXg8/video.html
RATO/JATO take-off for the win.
In reality, a C130 DID land on USS Forrestal in 1963, and take off again several times with varying weight loads.
@@grimreaperswell done! I saw the Forrestal video. Since the C130 is good to fly, perhaps we might have an MC-130J sim of a special forces insertion or evacuation - somewhere hilly? It will need a few escorts too. I’d love to see it put through its paces. It would make an interesting asymmetric sim where the red team don’t know what’s coming (to start with anyway).
Maximum accolades for Simba landing on the carrier using the video screen in cockpit of a video game on a WWII carrier! Full points x 4!😊
Internet AND sex points I believe 😂
@@Sardaukar240888 i do it all for the Internet Sex points. those are the most important
Thankyou. i did it to show off that you can fly the aircraft from the back seat
I'm coming for those points Simba!
Possible the simulated screen in DCS looks better than a real one would?
Old Cap: Hello valued viewers
New Cap: Viewington Booington Wooingtons
New Cap def best Cap.
Community: "Hey ED, can you please fix bugs, enhance current features such as radio? And maybe start centralizing the game to be more cohesive?"
ED: "Here is an obscure aircraft carrier from a country that does everything it can to be a failed state despite having all the building blocks to be a super power. It is up to you if I am talking about the UK or Argentina."
It'd be nice if they did, but honestly this game is a marvel of programming. Even extremely high budget, modern AAA games don't have anywhere near the complexity or depth of DCS.
it's a question of competition. And there is absolutely nothing even remotely comparable to DCS. So even with these problems that some people might have, they don't really have to. And there is also the real world edge. How modern are they allowed to make features in the game? As long as pay DLC coexist with free mods, i have no big issue with it.
Also it gives a reason to FINALLY have another landing skill competition. I feel silly and fun has taken a big step back from real-ish wargames recently on GR. Not complaining too hard, i'm aware of the (baby) elephant in the room.
It's a part of the RAZBAM South Atlantic Assets Pack, so...ED didn't make it, had almost noting to do with making it, put no resources into making it, so were not diverted from their program by anyting to do with it. If you have issues with the pace ED add things to the game, direct it their way, not at a 3rd party dev. And educate yourself on the subject before you go on a rant.

Haha „ I identify as a cat “ just killed me 😂
gotta spice it up from time to time.
@@simba1113now I know who’s “meowing” on 121.5🤣
@GR, the first F-15E landing was amazing. Keep it up.
The red and white boats are not lifeboats. They are ship's boats for moving personnel to and from shore and other ships. The white canisters are the lifeboats.
Thanks
That landing by Violet... *Chef's Kiss*
Petition to call the next ship "Vente Latte"
“Fancy lifeboats for officers with cheese and port” LOL. More boats to ferry crew to shore I should have thought, not too good in a rough sea…
Thanks guys, another amusing adventure.
My father and uncle served on that ship when it was "de Karel Doorman R81" for the Dutch navy in the early 60's.
What, no OV-10 Bronco? Great low speed handling and designed to be able to handle rough field conditions.
I feel like we’re gonna get a new falklands recreation or theoretical battle with this and new British assets at some point
Yes, yes you are.
Well done Grim Reapers! Simba is still ‘’The People’s Champ’’!
thank you thak you.
Cap: *lands Strike Eagle on the carrier first time*
Simba: hold my beer, I'll do it from the WSO seat!
Some brilliant flying there. Simba just is something else, using the HUD TV camera is genius. Kind of makes me wish we got the F-15 carrier version (the Sea Eagle... The Seagull?).
the nice part of the hud repeater camera is that the velocity vector displays as low as 10 degrees below level. On the actually hud that is too low and you get the blinking. ;)
SIMBA “I identify as a Cat”….that “does it from the backseat” 😂😂😂
LOL, the size difference is so hilarious. Thanks for the excellent content, as usual, you guys rock!
I still want to see a two engine fighter dog fight competition with each jet operating on only one engine
I think two things happened with that carrier, one, when their part of the pincer attack involving the Belgrano came up, the catapults on the carrier jammed, and two, there wasn't enough wind for the attack aircraft to take off. Belgrano got sunk, and this carrier buggered off back to Argentina to play no further part in the war.
I wouldn't mind you guys doing a battle with the two british carriers of that time and the Argentinian Carrier.
Bent front gear from the backseat..... BRAVO.. Simba.
yup I'll just blame it on the front seat guy and go to the bar.
The fact that Violet got an A-10 to land on a small carrier is impressive to me idk about you people.
Funny how you completely blacked out due to the force of the cables catching you on that landing. Then again, seeing how you weren't supposed to land on THAT type of carrier at all, actually surprised that the cables didn't snap and send you into the ocean.
the small boats are for ports where the carrier can't dock. alongside the USN carriers used to have them up till the early 2000's. early examples can be seen in the classic ww2 movie Tora Tora Tora during the Pearl harbour attack sequence
15:25 Carriers can turn, so the wind is *ALWAYS* off the bow for air ops. I served on a carrier in Vietnam, and there was never more than a 5 knot crosswind vector.
This is where the proper GR Lunitics shine.. baby....🤣🤪
Yay! Another controlled crash contest!!!
Simba, that was awesome. To bad we didn't get to see water spraying the carrier.
yeah one of the many limitations of the game that probably won't get modeled lol.
You are correct, those white barrels are life rafts that when they hit the water auto deploy and Inflate. The boats are for the senior officers
I surprised you didn’t know about the HUD camera view - in just about every trainee airforce video you can see the instructor judging the students guns kill via this display. Although most dedicated trainer aircraft have a dedicated upfront display specifically as a HUD repeater.
Talking of "exhibition landing ", and with RIAT looming - are we likely to see a GR Airshow again? I enjoyed the last one I 'attended'
😂 I would have loved ta see a U2 or a raptor..enjoyed the video. Good work
14:33 is why simba is the peoples champ!
Violet did a great job landing the A-10.
Oh Lord, first thing done with a new vessel acquisition, is to invite a no holds-barred landing skill contest. A Nation's military budget quivers when GR Ops commence...
Why does Simba identifying as a cat make perfect sense?
Meow Mother F............ lol
Love the video!! Barrel of laughs and maximum skills all the way around!! Good job guys and gal!
Hi Cap. the air group in the war was: 8 A-4Q (ex B) /6 S-2E (ASW) / 4 Sea King (ASW) / 1 Alouette (SAR)
Look at that cap learned a thing😮
Don't worry I'll just forget it soon.
Was waiting for this one.
What a fun and bad ass way to test a new asset in DCS!!! Haha!! If you can perfect the art of landing on this little guy, a super carrier is going to feel like a flat field in Nebraska!! Great flying as always Grim Reapers!!! Hats off to Simba for the back seat landing in the second round!!
Big smiles! Thanks GR :)
I love these kinds of videos, I tend to laugh way too much, thanks you'll. . . 👍
I would love to see GR crew recreate some of the Blue Angels manoeuvres initially was thinking of the diamond 6 landing but there so many more u lads could do.
26:24 popping the shoot? Ingenious
My dad was one the USS Midway was ~twice the displacement as the Colossus class. Seeing the Midway next to a Nimtz Class was hilarious as it was that much smaller. The length, an the height difference really made the Nimitz that much bigger
There's always a chance you'll immediately explode when you come in from the rear and hit it too hard.
But it's well worth the try.
When your carrier deck is as long as the landing trap of a supercarrier:
Damn, with that little video screen, it's like flying the old F15 Strike Eagle.
Valued Viewer reporting, Captain Narrator Sir!
In 1963, just to prove that we could, the US landed a KC-130F on the USS Forestal.
Simba with the FPV landing!
Fun with carriers - Grim Reaper style! Simba identifies as a Cat? #1, 2, 3 or 4? I'm asking for a friend... Video Valued by Valued Viewers - Fly Army 🚁
"Grim Reapers, best reapers"
Carrier not adding it's 30kts?
Well done by Cap in the flanker!
2:10 hello Narringtons!
Grab an NF-104, climb high, then put your nose towards the carrier, hit your rocket booster and dive stright into the carrier.
When I saw the Viggen in the line up I was so excited! And then Violet gave it a shot, proving she is the best 😆
Cap wants to learn how to land an F-15 with only 1 vertical stabilizer...lol
The F-15 hook is indeed more robust... the F-15 hook can be raised and lowered hydraulically where the F-16 hook is basically a hook on the end of a leaf spring.
Can't be there in July, but will be in London this coming November 🙂
Did you try cross-controlling? Bank into the wind to counteract the crosswind but apply opposite rudder to keep the nose lined up. You'd then level off at the last second.
Cap actually made a landing with his canopy on....lol
Sir can you do f6f vs a6m or f4u vs a6m. It be interesting to see US Navy warbird vs Japanese navy war bird.
Simba is an ace pilot.
Thank y ou
Oh, the *aircraft* are non-naval. I was wondering what a non-naval aircraft carrier looked like.
I missed this kind of video!
If cap had a cap, he could feel more wind...lol
@grimreapers - yayy - As the Catapult works on this baby - how about doing it again with Naval planes with parking on deck refuel re-arm, lots of planes on deck at once (what could go wrong) - maybe some Red de Mayo V Blue de Mayo - (Hare)Poons at dawn action
Disappointed that no one attempted C5 absurdity 😂
She was also for a time a Dutch navy ship the "Karel Doorman"
what...no starfighter?
for shame😂
oof I don't fancy my chances...
The peoples champ!!!!😂
You should give out awards. Congratulations, "you did a thing"!
Life rafts for all crew. Other boats are not really life boats but can be used to tow daisy chain life rafts but unlikely they would deploy those boats in a hurry...
Probably because, it has a larger displacement and has more below deck space. 17:25
Hey there Grim reapers, what about a naval battle between the Vienticinco de Mayo and HMAS Melbourne II?
When I was ships company on the Theodore Roosevelt we had 4 Officers boats and four 100 man skiffs. The ship was too large for civilian ports so we would anchor off shore and take the boats back and forth. One of the 4 Officer boats was just for the Captains use and the other three were for the rest of the officers. As enlisted, we would go to the fantail and board the whale boat skiffs. They were like a taxi the whole time we were in port running from the ship to fleet landing 24 hours a day. That's all they were used for. The white barrels on the exterior were the life rafts. We also had several smaller skiffs that were on davits (they look like arms reaching out from the side) that can raise/lower the boat into the water. Those were for man overboard recovery and other general purpose jobs that required a boat. The officers boats were stowed on top of the enlisted boats on a special rack and kept in the hangar bays
Hello from across the pond Reapers !
Few of us Canadian GR fams will ne at RIAT on the 16th and would love to meet up with you folks !
Where and when will you be there on the grounds pls?
Thanks !
We'll be there on the Saturday. Havn't decided exactly where yet BUT probably in red section right up against the front fence.
Fantastic! Have a wee mil/av gift for Cap Jr from our aviation museum ;)
The problem that he's having with the viper is that the hook only traps when you're at low or idle throttle, so you have to come in very accurately and then cut power when you touch down to trap.
Since the Northrup F-5 was originally designed for ise on an escourt carrier, That is the fighter I woud chose
I have an idea for a challenge. A carrier landing challenge but the carrier is red and the planes are blue and the carrier has its weapons enabled
My other choice would be the A-10 as its speed is similar to the WWII aircraft it was intended to use
18:54 lol. Luxury fully equipped and comfortably stocked life boats 🚤 for the 'top brass'
I kinda sometimes appreciated this.
The carrier should move against the wind (if able) and give some extra help with the landing speed
Get woke Go broke! This bud light is for all of the women of the Grim Reapers!
Go guys!!!
Or what about a battle between HMAS Melbourne and HMS Eagle in 1975 (assuming the Pommies will do anything to try and retake the Ashes)!!!!!!
Hi, you should try some of the older Microsoft DOS and retro console flight sims and games, there are like a million of them and they are all so different!
"tiny little F-15 wings?" They are far larger than F-18 wings....
can you land the strike eagle on a boat with only one wing?
Maybe to counter the few people everybody could do 2 planes per round and (dis-)qualifying like 2 different people. You know, like Jessie Owens competing in multiple olympic sports.... Or MArie Curie getting 2 different Nobel Prices.
whatever one thinks about this thing, it gives a reason to finally have another landing skill competition. I feel silly and fun have taken a step back from realistic-ish wargames recently on GR. Not complaining too hard, i'm aware of the (baby) elephant in the room. Still nice.
However, having "Round 1 first and then 2" feels a bit outdated and overly conservative :P
Isn't the only reason you're damaging the gear because you have such a steep approach? While harder why isn't it possible to have a more shallow approach and not damage the gear. And why are the carriers standing still? That makes it harder and less realistic.
I'd like to watch the series about the Exocet missiles. Can anybody point out the name?
I think Eric Winckle Browns records are safe lol.
Mosquito were made of plywood, I thought, so they'd be relatively light?
i used to try and do this very thing on USNF..... i ended up being a boat- a lot
If you can choose any aircraft other than navel, then get a Harrier or V-22 osprey.
Let’s goooo
Hey there Cap!
Always knew Simba was a cat girl xD
