- In India, Christians account for about 2% to 3% of the population. However, in the state of Kerala, Christians make up a remarkable 18% to 19% of the total population. And among them, Syrian Christians play a significant role, representing almost half of Kerala's Christian population. Although the Syrian Christians of Kerala are a minority, they are also a caste-, race-, and class-privileged minority that have historically benefited from their privileged position within society. And if the Syrian Christians are the dominant community, then it is also necessary to look at the subordinated communities, as they represent the minority within the minority. Our guest today is Sonja Thomas, author of, 'Privileged Minorities: Syrian Christianity, Gender, and Minority Rights in Postcolonial India' and together we will discuss the Christians of Kerala, specifically the Syrian Christians, and navigate the intricacies of caste, gender, class, race, religion, and language.

Are they Syrian Christians or Dravidian Christians
As a Syrian Christian from kerala, i am doubtful how good was her research... Some are on the point, but some of her findings are completely wrong and misguiding .. i would say 50 : 50, right : wrong. About love jihad issue, This women is mis directed. I can vouch on this point. Love jihad, sending to fight for Isis is a Horrendous truth (quick google search about syrian Christian girls from Kerala like.. Sonia Sebastian or Merin Joseph - who are in afghan jail currently would reveal how mis informed she is!! or is she got paid to say this, not sure) Also is Missing Girls who are never found again.... plus Countless Suicides of girls who had arabic scripts tattooed in their private parts.... all point towards a secret, planned act by religious fanatics and it is called Love Jihad!
Why isnt that the case of Hindus? She was saying we have a bias.. we are predisposed to believe the harm coming from muslims more ... We have a problem with certain groups.. she points out facts that these are the belief systems, and it's been used for political gains as well.. the more reasons you give for disliking a group.. the more reason to vote the system in through their political alliance.. you get the picture..
Also.. act of certain folks can't be attributed to the entire group.. love jihad doesn't make the entirety of the religion..... if that's alright to say then by that logic saying "our ancestors being slave owners" is the same as "we used to be slave owners" 😅😅 it's a very thin line my friend..
Why you are spreding lies south Indian Christians came from Dravidians they claiming from they are Syrian Christians but we cannot find syrian DNA in kerala Christians and they don't know syric language but syric priests forced worship in their language
