  • In this video, I show you how to play the G major scale ascending, hands together. This scale is made up of a collection of 7 main white keys, starting and ending on G, whereby the first G played is known as the OCTAVE note and the second G is known as the ROOT note, as it is a G in a lower range. This scale also contains 1 sharp (F).
To play the G major scale on your right hand ascending, place your thumb on the ROOT G, your index finger will play the next note which is A, the middle finger plays B THEN TUCK YOUR THUMB under your fingers so the thumb plays C, index finger plays D, middle finger plays E, ring finger plays F# and the little finger plays the OCTAVE G.
To play the G major scale on your right hand descending, place your little finger on OCTAVE G, the ring finger plays F#, the middle finger plays E, the index finger plays D, and the thumb plays C. THEN CROSS YOUR FINGERS OVER, so the middle finger plays B, the index finger plays A and the thumb plays ROOT G
