Hello everyone, my name is Kitty-Alice French and I am a beginner piano player, student member of the Independent Society of Musicians and an aspiring piano tutor, studying a Foundation Degree with the Academy of Music and Sound at the University of West London.
B Major Hands Together Ascending
In this video, I show you how to play the B major scale hands together ascending. This scale contains 5 Sharp notes, so is a scale that is predominately made up of black keys, and playing this on the left hand uses a slight variation on the normal finger pos previously encountered making it a bit challenging at first but with practice, it becomes easier.
To play the B major scale on your right hand ascending, start with your thumb on the ROOT B, index finger plays C#, middle finger plays D#, then TUCK YOUR THUMB UNDER YOUR FINGERS, so the thumb plays E, index finger plays F#, middle finger plays G#, ring finger plays A# and the little finger plays OCTAVE B.
To play the B major scale on your left hand ascending, start with your ring finger on the ROOT B, middle finger plays C#, index finger plays D# and the thumb plays E. Then CROSS OVER YOUR FINGERS, so your ring finger plays F#, middle finger plays G#, index finger plays A# and the thumb plays the OCTAVE B.
To play the B major scale on your right hand ascending, start with your thumb on the ROOT B, index finger plays C#, middle finger plays D#, then TUCK YOUR THUMB UNDER YOUR FINGERS, so the thumb plays E, index finger plays F#, middle finger plays G#, ring finger plays A# and the little finger plays OCTAVE B.

Thank you so much, I still find it tricky as a beginner, but am keeping up the practice. Hope it was helpful to you.
Try using your thumb on the fifth (B in this case) and swinging over. That way you can get good at playing with all 5 fingers! The best pianists can use each of their 10 fingers to play a different note at a different time and sound like a full symphony. That’s our goal in this lifelong hobby :)

Keep it up! This scale commonly trips me up on occasion, so play it slowly and then gradually increase the tempo. The most important thing is to get the feel of the scale under your fingers, as the muscle memory it creates will really help! Hope this helps!
