I recently purchased the Zappiti Nas and have just spent two months ripping just over 1000 Blu-rays and 4K discs.
Really happy with the product and so sad to hear that Zappiti is closing down.
What is not clear though is what support the Nas will have?
They have said that will still be able to rip movies and access our content however the Nas is a closed system...
Will we be able to insert new drives into the empty slots?
And will we be able to replace broken hard drives ourselves?
If there closing down they really should give Nas owners full access to the Windows server Nas operating system, otherwise as soon as one of the hard drives fails the whole unit is a dustbin job.

This is why I have started to move to products that are not dependent on cloud simply because I have been burnt multiple times with hardware that a strong integration with cloud based apps. Companies are disappearing left right and centre or are dropping their cloud apps or solutions within 5 years of launching. Leads to a lot of wasted money.

I got the Zappiti One SE 4K HDR for 350 bucks. With gift card it came to 250 bucks. It was a great machine for the price. Sure the UI was slow and laggy but overall it PLAYED EVERYTHING I THREW AT IT. 16 TB's of movies and shows! No issues! The animations and poster art and media info were all awesome as well. Had this device for over 3 years. Now it's all for naught.
Probably gonna get the Zidoo Z2600 next year or something else that comes out. See how the media player landscape plays out. For now I'm gonna use the Kodi and Nova media player on my Zappiti.
Man this really sucks...after 3 years of use.

This is number 1 reason why I went with zidoo was the speed scrolling through the posterwall and customization, and if you don't like HT 4.0 UI you can use emby, kodi, jellyfin. The way the landscape is changing for media players, the zidoo 5000 is my next updrade.

Zappiti is based on Dune hardware and software. Strange this is not mentioned in the video. On most player models Dune and Zappiti share the power supply and video board. 100% the same. Even the internal fan is the same. The in/output board is different. Low level SW is also shared. Zappiti has build on top of that there own application with cloud access. Dune don’t do this. Who knows, some clever guy can port the Dune SW into the Zappiti and make it a Dune.

Dune has actually been in the game far longer than Zappiti or Zidoo, and are still developing. If I am not mistaken, much of the hardware for the former were actually ‘legal clones’ of Dune, with Zappiti software on top. So now the choice is indeed down to Dune and Zidoo, with v similar hardware, the differentiating factor being the software.

I think you should review the Dune HD Real Vision 4K Plus or any of their devices with the Realtek RTD1619DR media processor. I just got hold of one and am stunned how good this is for the money. I've been looking for a device that can stream 4K Dolby Vision M2TS files and was going to pull the trigger on a Magnetar as it's the only bluray player with gigabit ethernet but thought I'd give this a go. Glad I did. I think the picture quality is superb and the interface/overall performance is stunning considering it's sub £300 in the UK and it's a tiny box, no fans or mechanisms. I would be very interested to see how the picture stacks up against a Magnetar, sound quality through my Arcam processor is decent as well.

I'm having a really hard time finding the benefit of Zidoo over the Nvidia Shield.
      1. The Android TV UI experience is so much better then what the Zidoo offers.
      2. No google play store so you will need to locate the apk's , sideload them to and hope they will work..
      3. No support for Plex or Kodi so eventually you may find yourself in the exact same situation as Zappiti users dependent on the device media server software solution@@Gshiznit74

Not news I was looking to here.🙁 I purchased my Zappiti Neo back in 2021 and it has some issues and was replaced for free last year. It has been working flawlessly. I was just thinking about the Zidoo products after just purchasing a Eversolo DMP-A6 to use as my main music streamer. I've had it about a month and love it as it replaced my BS Node 2i because the SQ is much better. I even connected my old ext usb blue ray optical drive to the usb port and was able to rip music CD directly to the internal SSD drive where all my music files are stored. It was pretty fast and rips to flac and wav files as well. I was also able to sideload Pandora app on it. I did not think I would find anything that sounded better than my BS Node 2i and can use for most if not all my music playback. If Zappiti is no more I was looking at the Zidoo z2600 which looks like a direct replacement for the Zappiti Neo because it has the same output connection out back. Your Thoughts?

I've had a Zappiti Duo for a few years now. The Zappiti player interface is atrocious, the image settings are fanciful and it's impossible to have neutral reference colorimetry... subtitle management is poor (no possibility of adjusting luminance, nor online downloading either). Re-booting is laborious and requires a USB key... horrible remote control to use.
Older models are ''incompatible'' with Dolby Vision due to a so-called hardware incompatibility... (They're lying, an update would suffice).

I just dont get all the doom and gloom...there are and have been many options besides Zappiti. There are 3 companies all pushing the same platform. Dune, Zappiti, and Zidoo. If you look close at the players they are all based on the same Chinese platform. Zappiti took the videophile approach with hardware AND software though not any better than the other companies. In fact it was said software was often funneled down from Zidoo. If you try to charge twice the price for the same product it’s only time before the customer discovers the truth.

Kaliedescape is the best device of its kind. The size doesn’t lie when it comes to data more available than a disk. Yes it’s expensive, but it’s not a product not meant for the average person. Neither is a Ferrari. Their is more to this than just base specs on paper.

Ummm… while this is sad, at least from my end, I forecast this would be soon the case because of what happened with k-scape. they, too, got shut down and had to change their entire business model just to exist.
I asked many CZcams presenters how is it possible for US customers to rip their own Blu-ray/4k/dvds and add to NAS when k-scape was sued and lost for just this very process.
I never received a reply from any CZcamsr. All good… i know they didn’t have the answer.
Anything stored on someone else’s server is a problem for ownership.
If you can’t rip your own optical discs or download purchased content to your own in-house server, you risk eventual loss of library. …
    Sad to say.
And now, Best Buy no longer sells blu-rays… not long before other retailers follow.
Purchase your favorites while you can, store ‘em. Time will come when you wont own your media… you’ll just have subscription services and quality limited to your internet connection speeds.
