With the 2020 500 it's not just the 760 HP. It's the EVERYTHING ! Stunning aesthetics, Killer handling , Ridiculous acceleration & Sound track ! The only down side is getting screwed by my Ford Dealer ! Yay !
To improve your 2011 shifting,try redline lubricants Mtl, made a world of difference in my 14 no more grinding or not wanting to engage.
Great comparison of the 2 Shelby's. I traded in my 2011 Shelby GT500, all stock with 7,400 miles for my new 2022 Shelby GT500, Heritage Edition, base with the electronics package and the performance package. I drove it home from the dealership and put it on the lift until we get some good weather. It has 54 miles on it. I put fuel stabilizer in the tank and hooked it up to the battery tender. I also put on the front rock guards from Jaeger that I saw in one of your video's. I can't wait for spring time. I have watched a lot of your video's and I learn something new each time!!! Thank you for the great video's.

@@ShelbyFlyer I watched both of your video's on the flaps and drilled the extra hole in mine before install. I also put a small piece of 3M clear paint protector film on the fender where the black channel on the flap rubs on the paint. Please keep making video's!

@@anthonylaudano9751 The base model 2020 in this video went to a new home. I got a CFTP 2020 to replace it... you can see it in my other videos. The CFTP is on another level yet and is simply amazing!

Nice video Tim. The 2011 whine really stands out and is the biggest difference when you stand on it. I miss it with my GT350R but the IRS is worth it. The brake difference is ridiculous. When the 2020 stopped before it passed the camera really told a lot. Keep them coming buddy. Jim

@@ShelbyFlyer Curious how does the new gt500 compare to the 11 you own.Reason I ask my 08 was originally owned by Bob Tasca and he had his dealership put everyone Ford racing part on my car.It is like a race car.It handles great and stops on a dime.

Anthony Laudano I actually drove my 2011 today. I’ve been driving my 2020 CFTP for awhile. It was like driving my F150 again. Even with a watts link, you cannot overcome the shortcomings of a solid rear axle. A magneride IRS setup is night and day different.

My dream car is a 2013 Grabber blue GT500. I feel like Ford really built the best Mustang they could in 2013.
My buddy had a GB 2013 GT500 with a 3.6 KB… it was a bad ass car! They are straight line beasts though. Put the hammer down and hold the F on!

The new one is sick. Ford did great on it. My buddy has one. And he got 19.5 mpg. Doing 70mph. On a 200 mile trip
Mark Singer The 2020 GT500 does not get 19.5 MPG. I own one. The darn fuel range with the 16 gallon fuel tank is 180 miles.

@@marksinger361 there is a big difference between all highway at 70 and average mpg. I can pull 21 mpg in my bolt on 4.10 geared 07 gt500 that is at 550 rwhp and it has the shorter overdrive than the later gt500s on top of that. I average 13-16 average depending how much fun I have. A far cry from the 21 I can pull straight highway at 70.

@@ShelbyFlyer Even with you short shifting, it seemed like it was almost as fast as the 2020 GT500! I know the 2020 is superior in pretty much every way but man there is nothing like big power, rear wheel drive, manual sports cars! I can only imagine how fun it is to drive.
@@deviantarsenal My Whippled 2011 is indeed fast. It has about the same power as the 2020, but the tranny makes a massive difference. The 2011 is a straight line machine. The 2020 does it all. The 2011 feels very old school. The 2020 feels like a new breed.

Awesome video. The new 500 is a completely different car. The previous 500 is a muscle car and a one lap hero. The new 500 is an all around sports/track car that can push hard for hours. Better everything, but progress comes at a price.

Nice video - just curious if Mustang tuners have figured out how to eliminate the bog right off the line (27:10) that seems to be programmed into the cars? I am guessing that was programmed in to save the clutch discs?
The bog is depended on the launch RPMs, the surface condition and the tires (traction). The bog is occurring in my videos simply because I don’t have good traction (I’m not on a prepped track or etched concrete). The car bogs to keep the rear tires from doing a smoke show.
I've been looking at the 2016 GT350's trying to get the wife's approval lol!! I've had 10 mustang's in my life and 9 of them were the Fox body and 1 SN95.

Great video! I was just wondering about buying a GT500 but since I’m
not interested in tracking the car I was thinking king about just getting it totally base. Do you think the Electronics package is worth it? Isn’t the stock radio sufficient? It seems to me that the gt500 is ok without options l like the standard more comfortable seats. I’m just going to use it for cruising around and ordinary street use.
There is nothing “base” about the base car. It is a super car! I loved mine! The electronics package is worth the $3k in my opinion.

It is a blue metallic epoxy with silver mixed in. It’s over black primer and all swirled about to look like waves. It was topped off with a coat of polyurethane.

Your 2011 or 2020 does not have a plasma bore. Only the 2013 and 2014 5.8l Super snakes have it. They do not use this technique on any of the other cars and have discontinued its use as of 2014. I know this because I have a 2013 5.8l Super snake.
That technology was introduced with the 2011 aluminum engines in the Mustang lineup.
They started that with the aluminum 5.4 in 2011 better brush up on your facts. Just because you own an overpriced super snake doesn't make you the all knowing Shelby guy lol.

ShelbyFlyer it’s just such an unknown car, everyone prolly knows about the 99-04 GT and SVT Cobra but barely anyone knows what the R is. And those side exit exhaust are prolly the coolest part about it. It looks like ford just wanted to make a road legal NASCAR.
I have a question nobody can seem to answer. I have a 2013 GT 500. How important is that catch can?
It is quite important. The PCV system routes oil mist back to the intake side and that oil coats the intercooler decreasing its efficiency making the car more prone to heat soak.
The rotors on the '11, and the side skirts on the '20 looks as tho they're placed on backwards.. Are they?
No and no. Everything is properly installed.
Traction control has nothing to do with the rear brakes btw the car cuts power via the throttle body when slip is indicated.
Traction control uses a few things to keep the car in check... one of them is the rear brakes.

Hey Tim, where did you get the blue blower belt on the 2011?
Van from Revan Racing approached Gates Belts a handful of years ago to make a special batch of blue racing belts for both the blower and the accessory drive. I bought a couple to use and have on standby. Unfortunately they are no longer available.

A little history lesson: the “pit stripes” or fender hash marks were first used by the Shelby AC Cobras. The cars all looked the same and it was a way to ID which driver was coming into the pits. Corvette ended up commandeering the fender stripes, but they were originally a Shelby thing.
Mustang Cobra GT 500, 2011 look wonderfull. Cobra GT 500, 2020 look great, but 2011 look better.
“Mustang Cobra” was from 93-04. “Shelby GT500” was 07-14 and 20. A “Shelby Cobra” is a 2-seat roadster.

Now it’s 2014 gt500,2019raptor and 2020gt500 like yours but no side stripes. Rapid red,perf pkge,carbon fiber,car cover,tech pkge,black over the top stripes. Ka Ching there goes 81,245 big ones. Unfortunately dealer got no golden ticket.
2014 monster beast all the time. 2020 goes from Honda Accord quiet to even bigger monster. But what I said still holds enny meany miny mo whicha one gonn go? Still sucks to only be able to drive one at a time. Bikes too hayabusa zx12r, and hd sportster.

I always felt the same. I have 8 manual Mustangs in my garage. Then I got a 2020 GT500 with a DCT tranny! It is a game changer and fun as hell!
Do any of the heat exchangers on the 2020 have a fan?
No separate fans on the heat exchangers. As delivered, the 2020+ is “heat proof!” There is no heat soak or brake fade.
@@ShelbyFlyer interesting, thanks for the reply. I believe there's a big debate about fans on heat exchangers. I'm sure if they were necessary/effective in the real world, the 2020+ would have them from the factory.
@@deangresham1 I added a twin fan heat exchanger on my Whippled 2011. I assume they help when the car is sitting still, but the fans wouldn’t be necessary with any forward movement.

Brianbugz34 The fender stripes originated on the Shelby AC Cobras. They were used on the driver’s side to identify which car was coming into pit lane since most of the cars looked the same. Years later, the Corvette Grand Sport copied the stripes, but the origins lie with Shelby.

Not sure what you mean...? The 2.9 Whipple was part of the complete Ford Racing 750hp kit. At the time (2012), it was $6500 for the polished version. It makes 17 pounds of boost and 750 flywheel horsepower... love it!

Tim your sons are fortunate to have a dad as cool as you!!!! I grew up with 60s/70s muscle cars in our household but my parents never drove fast or even done a burnout with me present. They were always fuddy duddy around me like that. When it came time for me to drive they preached about not speeding & never wanted me to have a car they thought was fast. Always wish they'd been more fun parents like you when it came to going for drives. :-(
