    As non-Indigenous, I wear my Orange Shirt for 3 days - I think (for me) one day just comes on quick and then disappears quick. Your presentation was very informative - Miigwetch!

      Thank you for being an ally Meggie! And for you kindness :) Do you wear it for 3 days in a row leading up to OSD or 3 different days in the year? 😁

      @@MalloryRoseCo 3 days in a row - because if someone (and they will) notices I am wearing the same shirt 3 days in a row, they are more apt to ask questions or make comments. I like the idea too of at different times of the year. Glad you asked...:)

    I am learning so much from my 8 y-o kid. They learn in school about Truth and Reconciliation and then comments at home and we all as a family converse about it. Talk about it is a way to learn and honour all that happened. I am an immigrant in Canada and I feel so much about this past and I hope the future is better.

    • @MalloryRoseCo
      @MalloryRoseCo  Před rokem +1

      I LOVE that you're learning from your 8 year old 😁❤️ it's amazing that they're discussing some of the comments kids get at home too! This is really important how much the (outside the classroom, family) influences actually counteract the hard work that most teachers do to educate young minds on the true history. Thank you so much for sharing Ange 💕

    I think it's a great way to get people envoled. I was married to an Indian man. Been to his reserve. I have always encouraged my kids to learn of their cultures. One daughter is going to the sweat lodges and learning much about healing meds. My grandson too. My other daughter was working with horses but had to stop due to many issues the other is a artisan doing jewelry and healing stones and dream catchers. My son is enjoying being on the lakes and rivers fishing and hopes to be a guide in his retirement days. I agree that the Indiginous people got a raw deal when the US and CA was being settled. I have felt that way since I was a child. Booze and drugs ruined my marriage and lots need to change for the kids of the future. Keep up the good work.

Yes Phyllis' story only mentioned in the video that I pointed to, (I realized I shouldn't assume that everyone would click on it) but I decided to leave it out becuase it would have made the video too long. Maybe next time i'll create a longer video that includes a fully detailed explanation for everyone 😅😅

    Hello, could you do a video about the term 'indian summer'? I just used it to describe the gorgeous weather we are currently experiencing, but my husband reminded me that the term is probably offensive in origin and I shouldn't be using it. To me it evokes images of beautiful nature and harvesting and joy

    You wanna know what actually happened in most residential schools? My mom went to one and was pregnant with me when she was 16 there. Nothing. Nothing happened. Absolutely nothing was wrong with her until all this awareness came to the spotlight. Now all of a sudden she's a victim and gets payouts and it's all alot of bullsh*t. Us real natives dont get defeated and we don't par take in these stupid fkn parades. ✊🏾 red power. ♥️ cancel orange shirt day. We don't have to tell the new generation anything it just keeps the parade going forever. Ffs.

    Should always telling indigenous people to be oppressed because someone's troubled past hold grudges and never move on for peace? Some indigenous know how to move on. Its like be stuck with addictions and not have rehab to move on. Especially survivors asking.all money from government and donations....

    • @MalloryRoseCo
      @MalloryRoseCo  Před rokem +1

      It's definitely hard to move on but I agree with you it is necessary to move on in order to experience peace. It's really hard not to get stuck in the dark place 💕

    I’m so exhausted at trotting out my trauma every year . I can’t wear an orange shirt, so sick of this . I just want to get on with my indigenous life . Apologies won’t heal you or me or your grandparents or great grandparents . therapy counseling and getting out of toxic family systems is the only thing that can help . If your in pain don’t look to a church or government -ask why your mom , dad or your kokum or cousins didn’t help you and why they abused you. Why do they get a free pass and cry on tv when there own children have been abused at there own hands? Talk about that . This is why white don’t buy this crap . You don’t have to live in a swamp . You can move . You can leave ! Ps had none of those kids been taken there would be 10xmore graves from malnutrition give your heads a shake grifters !
