All of them 😥 I have done everything wrong.
Yes, I didnt open a window, I blew it out. And I didnt set an intention, and I am not indigenous and didnt know that you should be part of that culture or ask permission by someone in the culture to smudge.
I snuffed my sage out instead of letting it burn. Thank you for the knowledge!!

When setting intentions prior to a smudge, I also open a window and state out loud that "what no longer serves me, please leave through the window". It's important that the negative energy has a place to escape to. You don't want to trap it inside (if you're smudging indoors). Love the video! 3. Burn only the amount of sage that is needed.
4. Do not ask the Creator for something one does not need.

Recent Scientific studies show that smudging kills microscopic bacteria on the human body. It literally cleanses the body. Like many other things, Natives have known this for thousands of years and science is still catching up. Lol

In my Native tribe we take the process a little further, aside from smoking a space or self. The actual act of taking the ashes and "smudge" into walls, over entry ways, persons, or amulet. Hence the word smudge. Smearing. Lol. Spreading burnt ashes around the areas to consecrate. Basically spreading your intentions around the space. What's your reason or point for burning sage? We use Sage to remove negative emotions rather than energies. Like after an argument or an attack from someone. Someone mourning, or just in a pissy mood and you are spreading it like wild fire. You are in contol of your intentions, you created or manifest. Essentially removing any karmic connection. We finish by replacing that empty space with positive emotions. Or creating boundaries for protection of your space or relationships. Emotions are like water, it'll flow to least resistance, and it can flow right back if unharnessed. Build an energetic dam to keep that controlled. I found that using other sources help with spiritual situations. Not in this topic.
Something I feel is a mistake (but might not be depending on who you ask):
Neglecting to "wash" your hands.
When Smudging I was always taught to "wash" my hands in the smoke first before smudging the rest of me.

Oh my God I lit my sage for the first time this year February 23, 2020 4.0 it just went haywire. It just went crazy. I said remove all the negative energy out of my home and trust me honey it’s burning and is burning good and I am grateful.
I do smudging to clear negative thoughts, help my anxiety, get rid of any spirits from this house,, bring happiness and love to our home
I let my child smudge the room, because children are so pure and innocent she always leaves our house so positive and playful.
I would also add , SAFTY FIRST always remember that a single spark can lead to burning down the entire house , village , forest .
Be responcable when handling fire , even if it’s just an incent stick .
The other day , I was in my shed , burning sage invents etc .
A single spark fell from an incent stick , down into a box full of plastic wrapping from an eBay purchase . I went to my house for a coffee , and when I got back to the shed there were flames 1 meter or so high from this box on fire , next to my quad and petrol cans .
Yea that was a surprise , luckily I got it under control , but it was a close one .
Learn from my bad .

I have indigenous lineage through my fathers mother, although I wasn’t raised within the culture smudging was something that my mother always incorporated into our lives it is now something I do as apart of my daily routine. While in NY my mother needed to sell her house. I brought my smudge stick along and smudged the house with the intention for my mother’s house to sell. Maybe this is not to be believed but all the spirits in the house left. My husband saw two spirits and I saw two spirits. It was amazing….My mom’s house eventually sold and my mom died. It was sad since she had left the house to me…

To rid of negative energy. And. Possiblity any hexes, binds, and or curses. I let a couple sleep over that we're homeless. The gal is known to be of negative vibes, but I could not let them sleep outside.L, after giving me a ride home. There's a lot of witchcraft that goes on around here in Oregon. Had a healer come to our house and we have very angry spirits, she said, due to a massacre on the land. I feel so bad about that. They communicated with her what they wanted from us and one of the things is for my son to smudge outside with some sage sticks that he has made and with palo santo which I just received today. I've heard of smudging but not really familiar with how to do it so this is why I am here. We have done some of the other things the spirits have requested and look forward to giving them all that they've asked for. We are heartbroken at what they went through.

I've recently started smudging because my family & I stress a lot so it brings some negative residue into our home. I put out the flame outside on grass after I finish smudging, messy mistake lol. Plus i think im a beginner witch, but a closet broom one. I just love the ritual & crystals ☺️

My friend asked me to smudge a home they were moving into, before they arrived. She was concerned about some negative energy left in the home. I had never smudged before but had an idea how to do it. After watching your video , I feel I did it with intention and the good energy! I feel I did great for her! This was a number of years ago and she just recently thanked me again for doing it for her! I started smudging to release negative energy from our home school, lodging when traveling. I also smudge myself and living space or surroundings to respectfully remove negative spirits and energy. I smudge my dog also. And friends, and homes.

I swear every article and picture I saw in them, have the sage still bundled together when they use it.
I'm part Cherokee myself but we never knew any of our descendants or any of their culture or traditions.

Wanted to do a house cleansing for the new house I moved into and to clear any negative energies that might have been attached to this space after a for had gone through a couple years ago and I'm the first tenant to move back into the new house.
I've not done a smudging before but used incense. I made some mistakes, but had clear intentions written down to say before and after.
I didn't know how to "extinguish" the smudge stick after and that's how I found your video. I crushed it before I realized not to.

I smudge as a daily sleep ritual. It calms me down aids in clearing my mind. I also smudge before doing any readings and when I feel unwanted spirits.

I have found if you don’t set an intention the sage will cleanse the space but it creates an energy vacuum and makes it easy for negative energy to rush back into the space after a short while
It's what's on your mind and in your heart. sage is medicine for positive balance with mother earth and a connection with positive spirit in your space and home

Thank you for making these videos! I like to break up my sage and burn it in my abalone shell. Do you have any tips for keeping the ash, leaves and potentially hot embers from falling through the holes while smudging? Not only does it make a mess but I'm afraid of burning myself. I can't find anything about this and it's so surprising to me! I love my abalone shell and would much prefer to continue using it.
When you talk about forcing and wicking your smudge, that also rings true when using a “lighter” to burn the medicine.
I am currently job hunting smudging to bring me good luck .

@@MalloryRoseCo it really does I use a stick my friend Thunder Bear taught me how and was my shaman. I Sage out and then sage in all around me above and below. My friend Geronimo taught me the Ho great grandfather prayer. I miss them greatly but they are with in spirit. I am here to carry on. Pedro was from the otter clan and sadly he's gone now to so I have a bunch of great men watching over me giving me strength every day. I am a brother and ally. I hope to meet indigenous friends here in NC but it's difficult. I am originally from out west love it here and the no kill animal sanctuary is going wonderful

I use smudging as a part of my ritual for years , I found very beneficial to me and my family, I have since gotten older and want to simplify my religious beliefs. Even though Catholic is my religion I was baptized with , I feel more drawn to the indigenous way of belief , since my mom passed away 7 years ago.
