    Great review! I bought a pair of these right after this review. After about 10 weeks I have no regrets. Paired them with same Klipsch sub you used and that made a huge difference for music. I absolutely love these speakers. I can close my eyes and they sound as good, or better, than much more expensive systems that I have owned in the past. This setup has really simplified my life. I feel like these are a bargain at $799.

      I did exactly the same! Very happy with the sound. That sub really rocks the room and I had to turn it down quite a bit. My speaker covers are quite loose in appearance as well, which is annoying. Thankfully, you don't notice it as much from in front, but from 45 degrees, it's really noticeable. I honestly think that you would have to spend up to three times as much on a soundbar, to get close to the fullness of sound.

    Nice video. One slight correction. These speakers technically support ARC, and not eARC. You can still use the eARC HDMI port on your TV and use your TV's remote to control the speakers, you just won't get the enhanced functionality. Which I honestly don't think you need for these types of speakers. eARC enhancements are really more for surround setups. And yes eARC has higher bandwidth but with these speakers being able to handle 24 bit/192kbps uncompressed audio, again you really don't need it. Other than that a really nice summary and I look forward to getting mine soon.

Some women vocalists aren't quite as impressive to me as maybe they should be and I sometimes feel like the bass is just overpowering some of the mids and highs. Would you recommend a sub to perhaps fix this small gripe? Were the mids and highs significantly improved in your testing?

    Took back a Cinema 700 (costco, same as 800) for connection problems and got these instead and I'm SOOOO happy I did. Bars are such a compromise, awesome sub aside. I thought I might miss the night and dialogue modes on the 700, but the Fives are just such 'better speakers' that those are non issues and the dialogue is clear even at very low volume. The bass on their own are amazing for such a small speaker but pair it with a small sub ($100 8" Yamaha) and it's built in crossover sends all the frequencies below 80 to the sub. Sounds good but what it really does is free up the Fives woofer to boost the midrange WAY up. (where the 700 lagged).
    When I first hooked them up (bedroom) I ended up sittiing on my bed for 2 hours listening to different music sound amazing and just mesmerizing me. Amazing, IMO for the $499 Costco price.
    Now just need a way to get rear surrounds and 5.1 to work with them.

    I don't have much space, and was wondering about the klipich cinema 400 or 600 soundbar/subwofer kit. Honestly, my budget is more in line with their $178 rb 40 soundbar/subwofer kit. I'm a complete newbie and looking for a small, budget option for streaming movies and music. Does anyone have any experience with the klipch soundbar kits? I will look into these speakers as well.

    Woow what a speaker system,I love this review of the fives

  • @arthurbell9389
    @arthurbell9389 Před 4 lety

    the fives are nice (based on other reviews I've seen) but for the price you could pick up a secondhand amp+speaker combo which would smoke it. if someone wants a 2.0 setup and has the money to spend I guess it's a good buy

      These are marketed for those that want a simple solution for 2ch or someone looking to upgrade their soundbar. There’s always something better but for an all in one solution, these are fantastic.

      @@Youthman I do get that and it is a cool premium product also but I feel like it's a bit overpriced for what it offers if that makes sense. The people that are your audience I think wouldn't buy this! not to say you shouldn't review though it as I like watching all the new tech stuff that comes out anyway 🙂

      Many of my audience have home theaters (from living room systems to dedicated home theater). I would love for people who are new to home theater find my channel and begin to see there much better solutions out there than a soundbar.

      @@Youthman very true. It's just for £280 (363 US dollars) I got a 4k onkyo A.V amp and some mint mission MX-5 speakers secondhand... That's a 2.0 on steroids.

      Buying used can be a crap shoot. I have been burned. I got to the point in my old age I would rather just buy new and avoid all the hassles. Factory renewed works well for me as well.

    This and the Samsung Q90R soundbar is about the same price right now. Are you saying these 2 speakers would outperform the Q90R that includes a sub, surround speakers and Dolby Atmos support?

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před 4 lety

      About the same price?
      $799 (New) vs $1197 (refurbished) or $1700 (New). Doesn’t seem very close in price to me.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před 4 lety

      The Fives ($799) + SVS PB2000 (12” sub with 550 watt RMS / 1500 watts peak) ($899) would be the same price and would destroy the Samsung in quality. I would take this 2.1 setup over the Samsung any day of the week.

      @jollyrioger2572 Před 4 lety

      Youthman Apologies I should’ve clarified. I’m in Australia and they’re both A$1600 - Q90R has reduced in price greatly from A$1999. Refurbished model is A$1200. I’m looking to get the Samsung but if you say these Klipsch will outperform the soundbar surround setup for movies, then I might get the Klipsch.

      @@jollyrioger2572 I gotcha. I have not heard the Q90R specifically but have yet to hear a soundbar system with a subwoofer that impressed me. Likewise, I have never seen anyone that is serious about home theater using Samsung as their speakers. If you can go with a full surround setup, there are likely better options than both the Samsung and The Fives. The Fives will not be able to provide you with surround sound. Just some things to consider.
