Now that you have to actually WORK and READ and WRITE in college, instead of laboring hours with a handful of professor pre-approved monographs and being held back by the speed and formatting of the 1980s typewriter, I'd say the balance of time spent is reallocated. Not better, not worse. Now that students can work far faster than the 1980s, they have time for other more "traditional" 1980s college hobbies; bad choices, and wasting their time.

College campuses should be safe places for faculty and students to debate controversial issues. We must teach young people tolerance as well as reasoning skills. People resort to violence when they stop to reason with each other.
