  • On September 1st 2008 Lincoln station reopened with colour light signalling.
This short film by railway photographer Fred Ivey shows the semiphore heaven that was Lincoln and the adjacent High Street level crossing, the busiest level crossing in Britain.
The trains were better then, not a pacer in sight!

Great video, the view from 3:21 to 3:44 is really good, you get to see so much in that one scene -- the level crossing, the train going over said level crossing and the train over the bridge too. 5*s from me :)

D3167 now resides at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway preserved line at Ludborough. It was the main shunter at Lincoln for many years before being taken out of service and placed on a plinth near the Lincoln High Street box. LWR now have it operational on selected days. Well worth a visit.
