- Welcome back to my Dumas Ace sloop 17 build! Once again I will be showing you step by step how this boat goes together and addressing points in the instructions and build as I go along.
In this weeks episode, I'm going to be finishing off building the hull of this free sailing model sloop kit, and then applying the first coats of varnish and filler to seal the hull up and make it watertight.
Really liking how the boat is coming along, the kit is fairly easy to construct but I do come into a few issues with the mahogany yet again.
However, with a bit of time and taking things slow, you can really make a nice sailboat from this kit and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished yacht out on my local boating lake.
As always I hope that if you are building this kit that you find the video helpful, and if you're not building this kit that you just find it entertaining - Zábava
Nice and shiny 👍🏻
Thanks mate that it is silky smooth
Skills my man skills! Well done

Great build thanks for sharing! I've done a number of Dumas kits, always enjoyed them too.
Glad you enjoyed it Any recommendations on budget kits from Dumas?Iv done a few of there free flight in the past but this is my first boat
Hi there, many hours of labour with the sand paper. Looking like it’s slowly coming round the the touch. The varnish certainly makes it shine, what with more sanding in finer grades of sand paper, it’ll soon be shining nicely. Looking forward to the next episode. 😉😊😉
Cheers mate think I went as fine as I could with what I had needed to strip some back though which made abit of a mess.glad your enjoying the build only 2 more left in this series till its done
I have never worked with mahogany like that. Looks to be a pain in the nether region.
It really was so brittle its better for coating wood than forming around wood
Hi, what varnish did you use
151 yacht varnish, its not the best but it's ok,anything exterior will do
