This is a pretty awesome trick.
I think having a sample color from a coordinate fx would be useful. For a lot of product designs the average color wouldn't work because a PMS color would need to be called out.
For games and previsualization this works great!
The trick to avg the color from a pattern is genius. Love it.
Thank you! Cheers!
Extremely underrated channel. I've not seen these techniques explained so well until now. Thank you so much!
Thank you! So glad you liked the videos.
Awesome tips thanks Wes!
Thank you!
This is incredibly useful. I never found much of a use on Passthrough, but this tutorial shines a new light on it!
Glad it was helpful!

Appreciate this tutorial, still trying to understand how Anchor Points work for my work
Thanks! They are super powerful. Let me know if you have any questions.
This is great, thank you for such useful information
You're very welcome!
This is wild. Incredibly useful technique. I wonder if this could work for more organic subjects like creature concepts?
Yes absolutely!
Is there a way to quickly export the texture variations you made, or do you have to export all the variations manually?
Hi Wes i saw your cyberpunk short about the paint along parh tool. I really need the tutorial on the material effect, I cant find anything like this anywhere else. Are you still planning to make a tutorial?
Thanks! I can make a tutorial on this : ) Stay tuned!
Hi wes i just want to know from a professional like you that how should we control our texel density i always do it via UDIMS but my texture always end up look blurry don't know why even if i bake in 4K
This is a great question! I have been thinking about a texel density video. Can you give me some more info on how you are managing TD currently? You mentioned UDIM, but are you trying to get a uniform TD?
@@wes.mcdermott yeah i mean in 3Ds max with the help of Uv packer plugin i just pack assets in like 4 to 5 tiles and then manually select some objects and pack them together so i can put all uv islands of a object in a single udim tile and i keep doing that for multiple objects. But in substance texture look average even baking it in 4k. Your Texel density video in the future will be the solution SIR
i have a strong devajo feeling 🧭
Haha! Yeah I uploaded it for about 20 min before I found a mistake :)
