    The recommended fuse for that 1500.1 is 200A that's probably why the 100A fuse was blown. The AVERAGE current draw on that amplifier is 100A, so all you need is a heavy bass note at the right level to push the current draw past that 100A and blow the fuse that's currently in there. Those amps were super underrated, I never saw one where the sheet that came with it didn't show that the actual power was over 1700 watts RMS

    • @commonsenseisdeadin2024
      @commonsenseisdeadin2024 Před 3 měsíci +1

      The fuse will likely slowly burn up if ran hard for extended periods. I'm going to assume that those subs are wired at minimum 2ohm but likely 4ohm plus add in box rise and you are looking at maybe 600 watts clamped but mini ANL fuses are going to not appreciate that current fluctuation

    • @FliCarGuy
      @FliCarGuy Před 3 měsíci

      @@commonsenseisdeadin2024yah if these are the BD series they make power at 2 or 1 ohm so likely wired to 2 ohm. That current draw is also going to be affected by the voltage in there, which probably isn’t great. I forgot about box rise though, so that will definitely play a role as well.

    • @commonsenseisdeadin2024
      @commonsenseisdeadin2024 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@FliCarGuy voltage I'm assuming should stay around 13 depending on the alt, 2 optimas will hold up fine if the alternator isn't putting out enough alone.
      I'm going with they are wired nominally at 4ohm considering they are only 10s and I'm assuming they were going for more SQ with it and they are only like 500watt RMS.
      Honestly I'm amazed that this car was a CES Rockford demo car and they didn't use T series subs. Although 2009 was hard times and I don't know what they even had 😂 the speakers in the doors are no doubt their top of the line.
      I don't know if they had a bd1500 in that design?
      I never really cared for RF so I really don't know what they all have. They been around so long it's hard to keep track of what's what with them 😂. For the price and what you get doesn't do it for me (I say as I paid $650 for a sub, that was like 50% off!🤣)
      My nostalgia is Audiobahn and Eclipse. I really liked Lightning Audio which is funny because their cheap speakers sounded way better than RF equivalent that were double the price. (RF owned or was a major player in lightning audio if you didn't know)
      Image Dynamics IDMax, Eclipse titanium, JL w7 and I think the Kicker solo X was around, were the heavy hitters.
      We ran Audiobahn Alumapro(I think it was) and MTX 9500 (I believe) only reason I remember the others is because they still exist 😭 (caveat being Eclipse but everyone knows them!) Rockford was best buy and MTX was Circuit City.. so I think I was required to hate Rockford 😂
      You quite possibly have not a fucking clue what I'm talking about 😂

      @@commonsenseisdeadin2024ahhh Audio nostslgia. Its so crazy to see how things have evolved over the years. Great point about the T series subs, who knows what they really had going on. Either way I know this setup sounds 100 times better than the stock setup from that era 😂

    The flashing seat lights means that the battery is too old.
    It sense the voltage drop when u pull amps for that seat.
    After a few miles it can start to work again because there will be more voltage over the battery.
    I think the seats are deactivated if the voltage is below certain voltage.
    Also, if u can't lock the car/it will unlock itself, the battery needs tone replaced.
    There might be a secondary battery beneath the air filter fr the brake by wire system as backup, in case the normal batteries die.
    And that new abs block is actually a recall.
    Cheers

      My Phoenix Gold ZPA 0.5 calls for an 80A and I was blowing them out pretty regularly back in the day on 4 10s. It's a class A amp rated for 1000w and tested to more like 1300. Guessing at 50% efficiency, @14 volts, it was actually able to pull _well_ over 100A peak... so. 😁
      Like others have said, today that's a wimpy little toy fuse and anything under a 2K isn't even worth buying. Times have changed... Along with those times, I started buying bigger home amps and started blowing 20A breakers instead. 😂

    I was an installer for 9 years at a high end shop in Florida. I took all my Eclipse and Diamond Audio stuff out of my 95 Taurus SHO when I bought my Mercury Marauder used in 2005. It was all gonna go in that but we were a JL Audio retailer and it got all JL Audio instead. First gen Slash amps (500/1 and 300/4) three 10w1v3-8 subs and VR components all around with an Eclipse AVN 2DIN head unit. It's got steering wheel interface, XM/Sirius, and iPod. There was a CD changer but that was removed years ago. It's all STILL in that car after 18 years' ownership and works perfectly. My install was done with Trupan cabinet-grade MDF instead of standard MDF. We did a LOT of antiques and exotics and didn't pinch pennies on materials or quality. In fact, I fiberglassed my business card into every custom creation that allowed. I got all my stuff on rep accommodation and did the labor. To replicate my complete system in 2006 would have been in the ballpark of $8,500.

    I had a Mercedes of this era….had a loose battery cable and all kinds of crazy electrical crap was happening. I’m assuming, because your batteries were low, it might have just been angry so now the fuse is back in and batteries are fully charged, the center stack is working as intended.

    You should put some wire ferrules and heat shrink on the amp power wires. You would get a better connection, and it's easier to take apart if you need to.

    Truly cheap is expensive. For this system to sound and operate this well 16 years later is a testament to investing right the first time. All in all most people will not be able to afford such a build but if you can it will serve you for a long time.

    A lot of people don’t know that some preamps (for both car and home audio) can clip the signal if you try to boost it too much or if the input is too high. Everything to the max is usually receptive for trouble.

    That 1500w amp should have a 150 in it. Rule of thumb of fusing.. add your fusing (if it's 80a- it's around 800w.. )
    That 100a fuse is good for around 1k rms.

    I found who built the system. The following is a cut and paste. Owner of this sport luxury sedan is a CEO of an Arizona based company who wasn’t quite happy with the existing system, so he brought it to Sound Xpression to add some killer audio while retaining the luxury feel, without the typical overdone “bling” and “flashing lights”.

    The battery warning is benign. Is caused by dead aux battery or aux battery relay. Just note, it is better to delete the aux battery than to have it low/dying, as the car will show the damned battery warning constantly will driving, where a dead one, will just show twice after car is started. Would be nice if that could be coded out.

    The reason you have a bubble on your inside of the tread the cheaper tires lexan Lion heart delinte etcetera are known to split the tread if you hit a pothole for back bump in the road it will split the tread decide what will pop and you'll have a bubble in the sidewall. Remember you got over a $5,000 car with added stereo equipment in three piece wheels which are every year then the factory forage wheels that come on that car ! Just think how much extra weight you added to that car you probably added a good $800 lb to that curb weight of that car

  • @KeithZim
    @KeithZim Před 3 měsíci +1

    2 insulated wires running in parallel create capacitance which is resistive to changing voltage. (power lines are separated on poles for this reason) The sound is changing voltage. While traveling the speaker wires, and with enough power, theoretically, none twisted wires could have enough capacitance to resist a change in voltage. And we WANT our voltage to change ALOT on our speaker wires... Twisting uses more wire and you sell it by the foot : ) This is legit though. Wire that is used for computer networking MUST be twisted or your signal with die after a few inches. . The can bus in your car will use twisted wires. Us nerds just say "twisted pairs" .

    There's two possible options for the 2 knobs, 1 is for the components amp, one is for sub amp. The other possibility is the one knob is for the tuning of of sub amp like the knob on the back of a home theatre sub that lets you adjust the frequency of the sub

    • @commonsenseisdeadin2024
      @commonsenseisdeadin2024 Před 3 měsíci

      1 for the sub amp and the other was for the processor that's been removed as confirmed with the remote jack wire hanging out ontop of the dvd changer. As far as your mids and highs go, you are controlling that with the volume on the source unit. Only reason you'd have a remote is if you want to cut certain drivers like say you only run all 3 mids in the doors for competition and typically only run 1 for cruising, but then you just toggle the amp running those and just cut it.

    That is a really cool car, especially when everything is working. I've had several nice systems over the years, but I never got into
    what I would call the excessive bass. I think I have a fairly refined ear, but to me it really sounds unnatural, but that's just my opinion.
    I don't know how many cars have pulled up next to me at a light, and it sounds like every panel on the car is vibrating and rattling.

If you don’t have a full four wheel alignment done, as I am sure, you know, you can chew up the tires really fast! I thought I would mention that as you are a busy man and we sometimes forget these things. Can’t beat German technology.😊
