Hailed as one of the greatest films of all time, The Incredible Mr. Limpet is a story about the wonders of imagination and the triumph of the spirit. When his dream of being a fish becomes a reality, Henry uses his underwater prowess to become the Navy's strongest secret weapon.
Directed By Arthur Lubin, Gerry Chiniquy, Robert McKimson
Starring Don Knotts, Carole Cook, Jack Weston

woow this roar sounds scary as hell at first
I love this roar. Sounds like a cool superhero power.
I never thought of it that way but yes
I don't care what Rotten Tomatoes says. I love this movie so much!
Me too BRO.
Even the people at TCM consider this movie to be a real classic
aww my nana used to play me this movie all the time
Mine too
Ron Thornton I will might order this movie on blu ray on eBay
Same here! 😊
That thrum would make one heck of a ringtone
Shane Curtis That is BRILLIANT, I would buy that ring tone.
Or at least a nifty notification sound.
1:43 It is like combining the law of hydroacoustics with the speed of sound going through water. In layman's terms, Mr. Limpet lets out a hypersonic voice that makes the Rhedosaurus and Godzilla green with envy (not counting the color of the scales).
Whiterun guard: “I can’t believe it, you’re...Dragonborn!”
Always wondered why Crusty's voice sounds so tinny. even as a kid i noticed it and thought it was odd.
He's in a shell. Get it?
It’s like watching Page Master mixed with SpongeBob mixed with Finding Nemo, mixed with Sword in the Stone, mixed with those old Starkist commercials , and those scary Monstro scenes from Pinocchio
No. It's like watching "Mr. Limpet." Just like it was when I watched it when it came out. Before it got ripped off by so those other movies.
Starkist! 😂🤣
@@jamespfitz none of those movies ripped this off
Was the animated sequences of Mr Lumpit in the ocean done by Warner Bros. Cartoon Studios?
@@jojomayard7233 Yes. This was one of the last things done by the studio before it closed down in 1963. Lots of familiar names in the end credits.
That roar sounds like Legendary Godzilla's new roar.
Or King Kong
Yeah, it does actually sound similar to the G man's roar. I'm surprised Toho Studios didn't sue Warner Bros.
Hello nightmares
Barely
@@sweetcinnamonpnchkin more like a whale then Godzilla or Kong kong
I got here from an Easter Egg video regarding Disney Attractions. A video I came across with revealed Mr. Limpet not only appeared in Disney’s Little Mermaid (right after Under the Sea in the crowd of fish) in honor of Don Knotts, but he has an animatronic in the ride only in California.
TMPvids😍. I came here as well because of him as well and honestly it made me happy Disney added a wonderful character like Mr.Limpet and to honor the incredible Don Knotts, he must be so proud right now😄😇
Thank you for sharing
Well if you got to MR.LIMPET from a Disney app they violated copyright law because Mr.Limpet us owned by Warner Brothers .
Why is that so satisfying to listen to lol
wosh row dah(?)
Just yelling at something can make that thing go away.
A fun childhood memory?
I love that sound, I wish I could make that sound.
Lol!
Maddison Stewart
Me in a marvel superhero movie
Ok little fat man, what's your superpower?
BAWAAAAAWWAAAA!!!!
Lmao! :P
Crusty was voiced by the very talented Paul Frees. He did tons of other voiceover and dubbing work, among these were Boris Badenov (Rocky & Bullwinkle), Ludwig Von Duck, and both John and George in the Beatles cartoon show.
@markashby3264 And Barney Bear (in the 1950's), Snuffy Smith, Barney Google, Ignatz Mouse in the Krazy Kat cartoons from 1963, and multiple voices in the original Frosty the Snowman from 1969, as well as voicework for other Rankin Bass holiday specials like Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town. He was the original voice of the Pillsbury Doughboy and he was the longtime voice of Toucan Sam. (Though I recently found out that Mel Blanc was the first voice of Toucan Sam.) He can be heard in at least half a dozen Tom and Jerry cartoons from the 1950's like "Jerry's Cousin" and "The Missing Mouse". He narrated some of Tex Avery's MGM cartoons like "TV of Tomorrow" and "Homesteader Droopy". He narrated Disney educational films like "Donald in Mathmagic Land" (which I saw in math class when I was in the seventh grade) and did voicework for Disney theme park attractions. (It sounds like Disney is using old recordings of him in the TV commercials for their new Haunted Mansion movie.)
Here he is voicing villains in one of the Inspector cartoons from the 1960's:

He deserves a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Damn I watched this movie all the time as a kid Never realized how old it is Such a great movie Also didn’t know he was the cop from that one show Damn that show was great too Here I am 20 years old having nostalgia from something made over 30 years before I was born Feels good
I never saw this movie and I just turned 40 lol. Just found out existed from another video :P
Deputy Barney Fife, Mayberry P.D.
I loved this movie. I was born in '92 to a teen mom (15 at the time), but my grandparents had a very large part of my upbringing. Actually my whole family did. "It takes a village" really fits in my upbringing. My grandparents made sure that they brought me up on music from the 20s up to the 70s. My mother took on from 80s to the present music at the time. When it came to movies, my grandparents made sure that they had my sister and i watch the oldies - the classics. The Sting, Rogers & Hammerstein (SP?), My Fair Lady, Carousel, Oklahoma, The Sound of Music, The King and I, State Fair, Fiddler on the Roof, Wizard of OZ, Laurel and Hardy, Gay Purree, The 7 Heads of Doctor Lao, Jack the Giant Killer, The Saint, The Three Stooges, etc. This movie was one of my favs for sure!
Mr limpet is the evolutionary ancestor of the dark crystals gelfling.
Krusty, the original Mr Krabs.
My Mom and I would call it the Sonic Burp. LOL!
Cute. The way the crab uses sea sailing jargon while talking to Limpet. Reminds me of Popeye.
Great classic American animation film - there was talk some years back about Warner Bros. doing a remake of this movie starring Jim Carrey as Henry Limpet. Politics about the budget for the production stalled so it never got started. I wonder what that would've been like.
Well, THAT is the most realistic octopus I've ever seen in an animated film.
Hank from Finding Dory tho
@@SemiShweet Human mouth instead of a beak, try again.
Excellent movie in film and animation... down to the last spec of ink and sound. the television broadcasters usually choose the local viewing.
When i was around 4 i was terified i would turn into a fish because of this movie
That's what they call me.. Crusty!
Love 💓 this movie it came outbye I was born love it crusty the crab 🦀 🤣🤣🤣and then lady fish it's 59 yrs old movie but still appeals today classic
The sad thing is two weeks later the incredible Mr. Limpet and Crusty the crab end up the main course at a Red lobster buffet! This movie is quite clearly where the famous Mr. Crabs from Spongebob Squarepants come from.
I love asking people if they seem this movie.
🤓Loved this movie 🍿 🎥 growing up 💯
Fantastic animation! Probably the last spark of the golden age of animation and the last time we would see color lines in animation for a while, after all, Disney started to use Xerography (an horrible and rough process for animation that lasted until the 90's, by the way) on 1961 with 101 dalmatians and its cool and that but cannot compete about beauty against Sleeping Beauty and his amazing color lines and yeah this movie even being from the same year of Mary Poppins, it has better colors
Paul Frees as the voice of Crusty...
Paul Frees is one of my favorite cartoon vo performers.
He was the Burgimeister from Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
@@blue-sea8901 he was also professor Ludwig von Drake in several Disney anthology series episodes!
Ah.
Paul frees voices squiddly diddly too.
Its been years since I've seen this im a 2001 baby but I remember watching this as a kid I'm 18 now
Great Scene!
this art style is giving me flashbacks to shark tales
A simpler and much happier time.
Great movie.
LOVED THIS MOVIE & MISS IT TOO
My ringtone..🎶
This movie is such a fever dream, omg
what does the thrum sound like
Paul Frees voice of Crusty and so many other things!
Best movie 🎥 ever !!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️
This best movie is too tricky for Cartoon Network.
1:42... the original Fus Ro Dah!!! XD
he just rawr
I love thisnfilm
Is it me or does Crusty's voice sound like it was recorded through a radio? The audio quality is different from Limpet's voice.
I always noticed that too
I wonder what they used to create the thrum.
How was he able to make those sound waves?
This movie terified me as a child, i thought I would turn into a fish if i was in water at any point in time
I wish I were a dolphin because they are playful, friendly, and intelligent.🐬
Henry did not turn into a fish until he was about 40, so you may not be safe yet.
Not Gonna Lie, But This Movie Remind Me Of Shark Tale
When i was around 4 I was scared I would become a fish because of this movie
I’d like to become a dolphin.🐬
I wouldn't mind becoming a fish, such as a great white shark
And I wouldn’t mind becoming a dolphin.🐬
I like when Henry says this 1:04-1:13
The great Paul Frees!
Yup!😄
2:18 Common Octopus
Hey, it is Ol' Crusty from the Incredible Mr.Limpet!
The Wife.
The incredible mr Limpet
What is that loud noise he’s making?
Monstrous Superlative Satisfying 💪👑💗💜🖤♀️🈳️🟣👹😈🇺🇲🇯🇵 1:43 2:33
I still wonder if there really is a fish like the species Limpet is.
In this scene, Crusty asks if he is some kind of porpoise. Later on, the Navy learns porpoises have developed unusual vocal abilities and wonder if Limpet had been teaching them. As for loud sea animals, there are some such as blue whale and gulf corvina that make potentially deafening sounds but don't sound like this thrum. This random lecture on science in cinema was brought to you today by the letters "H" and "L" and by the number "2" 😊
Voiced by Paul Frees (1920-1986).
He's always got his mouth agape... so strange...
Well he is a fish so... Casual respiration I guess.
Have you ever seen DOn Knox?
Don Knotts? Just googled him - very familiar from all those old movies, yes. I suppose they're mimicking him because he's the voice actor?
Clint Hobson he had allergies. and they wanted to make him look feeble and nerdy like his human counterpart. kind of hard to do with a fish lol
When I was around 4 i was terified of becoming a fish because of this movie
1:43
Loch Ness Monster roar.
What kind of mashup is this?
Crusty the crab from SpongeBob how things going to circle
Krusty Krab! LOL😂
Remember Oscar?
This is him now.
Feel old yet?
"trout pout"
Gonna make sushi and a fish sammich outta that fish.
Is this the only voice work Paul Frees did for Warner Brothers animation?
@yosefdemby8792 Probably, because The Incredible Mr. Limpet was the last thing the cartoon studio did before it closed down in 1963.
Magister Patelliday? Is that you?
Hilarious... still... 2022
How come Crusty sounds like a radio?
1:43 sounds a lil like battle cat...
Sonic attack!
stop that shouting your making the uboats nervous
sorry couldn't resist
LOVED MY CHILD HOOD 🐟 🐟
My childhood was me being scared I might turn into a fish, because thats what he did in the movie lol
How did Mr Limpet blast a sonic boom like that? And he used to be a man?
Bessie's cooking?
WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT NOISE?!
Es is der thrum vich der Fuhrer's zecret veapon vill chasen to annihilaten das Amerikanische unterwasser zecret. Das newen piepser-torpedos vill reactin auf das thrum und kaboomin!
Dis stuff happened to me also... Don't believe me?? Don't really make a damn difference to me at all.
Bagerus Polecarus? (I can’t spell that) Uh, Mr. Limpet, I don’t know every biological name for hermit crabs but I’m pretty sure that isn’t one of em. If anyone in the comment section is a scientist who knows what they’re talking about can you inform me if that’s actually a term for Hermit Crab
Pagurus pollicaris* It's a type of flat clawed hermit crab.
@@thekylorshow You do seem to know what you are talking about, but it seems you are required to be a scientist in the comment section who knows what they're talking about to offer this information.
(But if you do happen to be a scientist, isn't Bagheera Polecatus the panther from "Jungle Book"?
@@ciabattatom521 I'm not a scientist, I just like doing research whenever I come across something I'm not familiar with. Bagheera is Hindi for Panther or Leopard, from the root word "Bagh" referring to anything Panthera. So, that checks out semantically, but I don't think that's an actual scientific name because all articles I found looking that up were referencing the fictional character from Jungle Book. I do know however, that there technically is no such thing as a panther. Black Panthers are usually spotted cats like Leopards or Jaguars with melanism and if you look closely you can still see their spots which appear as slightly darker patches within the black fur. It's a special mutation that can also occur in some Bobcats and Cheetahs. So, panthers being a mutation rather than their own species might be why all articles referred to the fictional character and not a subspecies of cat. The writers of the book most likely took inspiration from the Hindi word Bagheera or Bagh when naming the character. Perhaps like Felix The Cat having a similar name to the word "Felis" or if someone were to name a fictional Lion "Leo" for "Felis Leo." It's clever naming, but I don't think Bagheera Polecatus is a real species. 🙏
ROTTEN TOMATOES SUCKS. MR.LIMPET IS MORE THAN JUST A GREAT MOVIE IT GAVE DON KNOTTS THE FAME HE DESERVED THAT ANDY GRIFFITH HELD BACK. SADELY WARNER BROTHERS WAS NOT SMART ENOUGH TO SIGN HIM TO A LONG TERM CONTRACT AND UNIVERSAL SWOOPED IN AND PICKED HIM UP AND HAD HIT AFTER HIT ON THE BIG SCREEN.
THE FLYING MAN IS IN JOHNS PHONE !!!!!
Uno: The Movie anyone?
It's the name of the damn video, and stated clearly multiple times in the description.
Great and intelligent family movie. The junk produced today is garbage.
Is that Jeff Foxworthy?
Greg G. No
No
No, it’s Paul Frees
The crab looks like Jeff. Come on guys. lol
If you've ever had your reply misunderstood, you might be a redshell.

4 eyes? Wtf not good 4 kids.
That name always came to whoever wears glasses.
Jesus bless you
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Turn a man into a giant fish and he may feed several for several days.
Always wondered why Crusty's voice sounds so tinny. even as a kid i noticed it and thought it was odd.
