The Incredible Mr. Limpet (1964) Official Trailer - Don Knotts, Carole Cook Movie HD
Meek and mild mannered bookkeeper Henry Limpet has few passions in life. It's mid-1941 and he would love to join the Navy but has been rated 4F. His friend George Stickle is in the Navy and lays it on pretty thick. If Henry could have one thing it would be to become a fish. While on a visit to Coney Island, Henry falls into the water and miraculously gets his wish. Now a fish, he makes friends, Ladyfish and Crabby the hermit crab and loves his new life. He also uses his abilities to help the US Navy locate and sink Nazi U-Boats, forcing the Germans to create a new weapon to deal with the Allies secret weapon. When years later the Navy finds intelligent activity among dolphins, they may also know who is teaching them.

I used to watch this when I was little (Early 2000s) and I thought about it today, I almost thought it was a fever dream but I searched Google for "old movie about a dude turning into a fish and finding a german submarine" and found this video! Definitely will rewatch it soon :)

Also back then I use to get a kick out of it. I tell you what, they do not make good movies like this anymore and it's a shame too. I wish they would start playing these movies back up on television again.

LMAO! OMG, when you put it like that... and you're correct, too, that puts a whole different light on it! The thing is, the way you and I think, look at and decipher scenarios today, people didn't think like that back in '64. They weren't stupid, they weren't oblivious to current events, Hell, the Cold War was going on. They weren't neccesarily innocent either, but it was a comedy movie, plain and simple, no more, no less. Maybe they just took things at face value? Fast forward to 2020 and yup, I see your point as plain as can be.
My, my, how interesting. Society has changed in a way I never thought of. It's almost like our brains have been rewired or reprogrammed.

That would have been great because Jim can play a live action transformation into cartoon like he did for The Mask. This would have been a huge success for Jim.

Jim Carrey almost played so many characters and was close to do some unmade films like Used guys, Six Million dollar man, God of Cookery, believe it or not. Playing Howard Hughes and so many. With all of it his lost roles, he missed more than 50 roles. Jim is a busy celebrities. That's why he is good creating most characters. I wish he should of played some of them.

I think perfect role for the character is Jim Carrey. He can play characters who are live action and CGI really well. He can blended with it.

I had to drive through four states before I found an honest-to-goodness record store & I did exactly as Mr. Godfrey suggested & asked them to play it so I could learn all the lyrics. The clerk looked at me like I was from Mars. He said he's never heard of Mr. Limpet or Mr. Godfrey. Telling him that it was performed by twelve wonderful kids on the Contempo label also failed to yield any fruit. I looked like a fool. A FOOL, I TELL YOU!
Does anyone know how to get ahold of this Godfrey fellow? I've listened to the CBS radio network EVERY morning for weeks & they don't even mention him! NOT ONCE!!! I think I've been scammed & I demand restitution!
