These animators... How do you bring Ichabod to the screen so that he retains his ridiculous, exaggerated features as described in the book, but also make him look like Bing Crosby? lol

Who still learns about all of the legendary American stories including of American heroes in school? Paul Bunyan, Davy Crockett, even the songs, like "John Brown's Baby".
And Rip van Winkle which by coincidence was also written by Washington Irving

I think Ichabod Crane was the inspiration for Shaggy of Scooby Doo.
Both are tall and lanky, both despite being skinny have an insane obsession over food & both can be cowardly.

The Disney cartoon version. Is one of the best. It is closest to the book. I love The legend of Sleepy Hollow. It's the best ghost story ever. I grew up with this version. Watching it on the Disney channel every October for Halloween.
Wish they made another Disney Short where Ichabod Crane is a good character, change his personality, and fall in love with a beautiful southern bell woman and has a family.

My main problem with Bing Crosby was that from everything I've heard he was really monstrous and abusive towards his wife and children in his lifetime, but I like some of his songs regardless. Myself I really might have preferred Basil Rathbone to have been the narrator on the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and having him narrate it in the style of his Edgar Allan Poe readings bringing out some of the more ominous and darker elements of the Washington Irving story.
