    Hi Bob, I've been looking at this one for my Ram with a Leer high boy. Can't believe you are the first and only video showing a high boy set up. THANK YOU. If you don't mind I was hoping you could tell me if you think it would fit my opening. From ground to tailgate 3' to top of topper 7'2" opening width 5'4" height 4'2". Any help would be much appreciated.

      @BobElgin  Před 7 lety

      Well ill help as much as possible. I read in a post that if you have a lift on your truck that it could cause problems. My truck is at stock height. There is a small acceptance with lifts, If I remember when i asked they said a 6 inch lift wouldnt work, My truck measures 30 inches to my tailgate And a 57 inches when the glass is open from my tailgate, overall 6 ft 11 1/2 inchs to the top of my topper. Dont wanna mislead you, it might be advantageous to call RightLine

    • @BobElgin
      @BobElgin  Před 6 lety +3

      In Colorado at 10,000 elevation we get some pretty strong winds. One storm blew threw and had winds at least 40mph the tent was bent backwords and popped right back into place. This tent is the best thing for our trips, the wife loves it, were off the ground and its the best sleep i get on vacations to the mountains.

    Bob, this 5 years old now. May I ask how it held up to use and how many times you have used it? I have a F150 with with a high top shell and the hatch door is 7 feet tall when open. Would you guess it would fit over that? Thanks

    • @BobElgin
      @BobElgin  Před 7 lety +3

      Yes we went to Colorado in 2016 and it was very solid. One specific storm was pushing it over and thought it was gunna go but bounced back . Easy setup once you have done it once. No problem with floor, wore my boots on it. Everyone with us thought it was pretty cool LOL On that High Boy A.R.E. TOPPER it fits well, lil tight but thats what you want. Zero leaks

      Yes Well if I hadn't taken off with a strap still connected to my truck It would be. Ripped it big time. But as a stand alone tent it's still a good tent. Used duct tape on it and use it as a food tent.

    Bob, what are you using as a liner in the bed of your truck?
    btw we have this tent and we use it with a Ford Ranger. It gives us a weather proof living room (small table w/ 2 camping chairs) with plenty of room for gear when it’s too rainy or buggy to sit under the Easy Up.

    • @BobElgin
      @BobElgin  Před 6 lety +2

      My wife Loves it we too set our chairs and igloos etc... If you asking about the blue Foam, Its just you house carpet padding, acts as a heat / cold barrier between my truck bed and my truck bed mattress

    I have one of those dumb questions - if you don't mind? Please. Or anyone else? I have Hyundai Santa Fe & was thinking of using a setup like this instead of a travel trailer. One idea IS to use tailgate for like a stove, serving, etc except odors on bedding (close). Guess you could just flip/throw it away from you. Whatcha think? Not sure how much you've used it yet. I'm 61 yr old woman- do you think I could manage to put it up alone? Be honest. (I'm NOT sensitive or PC so go for it! LoL 😁) I'm only 5'6" so I don't need much height & not looking for huge amount of floor area. I realize they have standard sizes of these things. I like these cuz I can sleep safer. BUT if you go to a paid tent site will this "pass"? I don't mean the sites where you have to carry everything to your site. How small does it break down to? Hope you can answer. ThanX in advance 🤗.

      As far as cooking inside the tent I wouldnt, you could but i would be afraid it catch fire.Depending on how your rear door opens will tell you how tall it will be. I have to close it for my wife when breaking it down. Im sure it will fit around your santa fe and it does have the pull fasteners to tighten it. I made the call to a dealer and told him how I was going to use it and he said it would fit. You might wanna do that. I used it last month as a stand alone food tent, Lots of rain in Colorado this year, everything stayed dry. It would be difficult to do it by yourself because you have to bend the poles. I watched the A guy setup it up by himself, but hes a lot bigger than you. I Love this tent and if anything ever happened to it i would buy another. A lot of bear attacks this year in Colorado due to people putting food in the tents they were sleeping in. Be Careful with that. Measurements are 14 inhes around and 30 inches Long. Also you will need a lil step ladder to get to the top 2 straps. My wife said she could do it by herself but it would take more time, she's 5ft 2 47years old Hope this helps "Thanx Fer Watchin"

      BobElgin. Thank you for all the time & effort you put into answering me. My hatch opens way high (have to reachhh to close it!) soo. Re: cooking, was thinking maybe propane & being right there but outside would be safer of course. I assume that's what you do? Yup, FOR SURE, 1/2 my reason for considering this is ALL bear-items AND ME inside, close hatch. I've heard people are even covering coolers IN THEIR cars if they can be seen as bears have learned!! Amazing! They also, in some cases, break auto glass.
      I'll have to figure something out. ThanX again for your input. 🤗

    So how do you attach it to the truck?

    • @BobElgin
      @BobElgin  Před 5 lety +1

      there are 3 straps on each side 2 straps on top an 2 straps on bottom They all hook to your truck bumper, fender and wiper blades. Holds it down pretty good. You can see how they attach in the video--all except the bottom the attaches to your rear bumper
