- A wireless, podcast, streaming, voice over microphone for video production! I've never seen a microphone like this and it's also a good one! Price the ECM-S1 podhelp.me/sonyecms1BH.
The Sony ECM-S1 is not just another wireless mic for you camera. There are plenty of wireless, lav microphone systems for capturing audio into your video camera but the ECM-S1 is a broadcast style microphone used by podcasters, streamers and voice over creators except it's also wireless for connecting to your Sony cameras. This is a microphone system that I haven't seen before and so I had to try it out. Turns out, it's also a great sound mic!

Buy the ECM-S1 podhelp.me/sonyecms1BH.
Who would buy this microphone? I think the online creator who does both podcasts, live-streaming and/or video production would be the type of person who would purchase the ECM-S1. Because you can also use this microphone as a USB mic to go directly into your computer, it would be easy to use this as your primary microphone for podcasting and/or streaming and then if you create CZcams videos as well, this mic easily connects to a Sony camera via the Mi shoe or any other camera that has a 3.5mm audio input. In all cases, the microphone sounds great. - Věda a technologie

Welcome back!
Hey hey, it's Dave!! Thanks, Dave ;)
I like very much the straightforward style of you presenting the S1. In my general overview on all available Sony mics I was able to only tip on it by now, still didn't manage to do the detailed review I was aiming for, since there are simply too many microphones flying around at the time. Exactly this is where your review comes in handy - the CZcams algorithm was doing a perfect job linking these two videos near to each other - which again exactly is how I stumbled over your content. Good to know, tha people will find a decent english spoken review on the ECM-S1 already through you. Thanks a lot for doing this serious job and the only thing left to me is now to create a German version one day! Please - keep on rocking!
Thank you very much for the kind feedback! And with AI, different language dubbing is probably a thing we'll start to see a lot more of in the near future. But also, it's a great chance to start your own channel, when you see a need, jump in and you'll probably do very well! Thanks again for watching!
@@RayOrtega No worries, I have some channels running, plus I don't necessarily think that AI over everything will be the best solution. Aren't you as an audiophile concerned that your voice might sound funny by the modification into a different language? Anyway, we live in a universe full of possibilities ... All the best!
@@S-LAB It may not even be my own voice at first but if the content can help new people, in other languages, I would be fine with some tradeoffs, it will get perfected over time. Stay well!
Happy new year ..... Ray 🙏🏼
You too!
And thank you for this review.
you raised a good point, when you uses omnidirectional mode, there isn't really a second mic on the back, which makes it sounds less good than a tula mic per example, whgen you're facing the back side.
I am going to buy S1. ❤❤. Tks for your clip
TnX🙏🏻
Podcasters are gonna abuse that stereo function 🙂
Lol. Throw in some reverb while you’re at it;)
More videos Ray! We miss you.
Thanks, Chris, I'm gonna try!! Really appreciate the support!
Almost £400 in the UK currently so a bit expensive for bedroom podcasters. Sounds good though.
Agree it’s pricey. Requires someone who makes multiple kinds of content I’d think. Thx for watching!
why other brands don't do bluetooth microphes?? this one is designed for people who already own a sony camera, but there could be a way to remove some unecessary features for casual users and reduce the $470's bill (the price in france)
There have been others but this seems like one of the first to get it right. Hopefully that means this tech will make its way into more devices and at better prices. Thanks for watching!
@@RayOrtega i pick the tula mic because of it's internal mic more designed to record 2 people facing each others with one mic, and for the design, but i wish there were a bluetooth feature cause i don't have much time and money for video editing.
Can you keep the mic powered by a powerbank so it doesn’t run out of battery but still have it connected wirelessly to a Sony cam so you could basically have infinite battery?
Darn! This is a great question! This was a demo unit for review so I had to return it and can't try it out! Seems like a good chance it might work but also makes me wonder if it thinks it's plugged in, will that affect the signal. Hopefully I'll get a chance to test it some time.
Hi Nayddoh, I just tried it out: your theory works. Once the S1 is transmitting it's signal to the receiver (connected to A6700 in my case), tha magic is happening: perfect audio quality. Then on, system already running: when I connected a power bank to the USB-C port of the ECM-S1 no decrease or any kind of modification is happening to the prestine audio signal (I was counter-checking using studio headphones straight out of my Sony). But there is a sign which tells us, that the S1 is definitely charging: beause in this moment the green power on button indicator turns orange! 🟠So, If this was what you were worrying about - no worries! 👍
@@S-LAB thank you so much!!!!
