Glad I found your video clip as I'm thinking about buying an Electro Acoustic Guitar. A very informative video although I'm watching it 8 years after it was recorded. Thank you.
Even though Electric Guitars are begginer friendly, the Acoustic-Electric is also fantastic for begginers cause the Electric Guitar feel & Acoustic Guitar resonance combined is super cool. Lots of companies like Dean, Taylor, Martin, there's alot of them had the bright idea of making Acoustic Guitars that feel like Electrics. Ovation's Acoustic-Electric instruments have a bowl back like a Lute made out of plastic.
The Acoustic-electric is strung with really light gauge strings to get the Electric Guitar feel, & yes the lightest gauge of strings on an Acoustic might relieve lots of tension of the top.
I have been playing guitar since 2 years........ So atleast I know the basics. But when it came in my recomendations I just thought to take a look........ The video was really informative and with good explanation. Keep making more useful videos like this.
The Acoustic-Electric might be easier to play than a Standard Acoustic Guitar (in fact it's just as easy to play as an Electric Guitar with easier action & lighter strings) because they usually use Extra Light Gauge Strings/10s (or even lighter like 9s/Ultra Lights) to emulate kinda an Electric Guitar type feel which relieves alot of pressure off the fretting hand.
Acoustic-Electric is a combination of an Acoustic & an electric Guitar all in one instrument. The Acoustic-electric advantage is that it's much larger in versatility.
So does it play just like a full acoustic when it's not plugged in? What if all I can find right now is a electro acoustic but you don't want to use the electric part is that possible?
If you’re living with other people in the house, the electric is a life saver since you can play it anytime you want, while other people are studying, sleeping etc. in the room next door. Also, you need many repetitions to play a piece well, and I think other people shouldn’t be subjected to 200 repetitions of your poorly played piece 😂 electric all the way, and with recent developments in technology, that includes the pianos as well 👍🏼 (I’m a pianist)
What is the guitar in the video behind your dad? The one to my left while watching (behind his far right in the video). It is the electric acoustic full box style that is a medium/dark brown face with natural wood grain pattern? I am looking for almost that exact style.
Is electric-acoustic guitar sounds the same with acoustic guitar when the electric Acoustic is not connected with the speaker? That's what I want to learn because I am beginner
I am very green, so am just trying to get as much info as I can. 2 questions: Is there a difference between an Acoustic Electric and an Electro Acoustic guitar, are is it just two roads to the same place? Secondly, when the Acoustic Electric is plugged in does it sound like an acoustic or a electric guitar? Thanks for your help!
Jacob Eyres Good Job on doing the homework before you make a decision. An electro-acoustic is the same thing as an acoustic electric. As far as the sound, it will sounds like an acoustic guitar if you are using an amp that’s designed for acoustic-electrics or a PA. If you use an amp that’s designed for electric guitar, you will be able to get some more sounds out of your instrument, but it may not sound very clean.
My daughter wants a guitar and I am leaning towards the electric acoustic guitar but what would she need along with that? I’m guessing you just can’t buy the guitar.
When you say “plug in” do you mean like an amp? I have a regular acoustic, but I’m interested in playing at my church and I think an amp will help my guitar to not be drowned out. So would I need an electric for that?
Yes it's still sounds acoustic, but the two guitars they have cut away and non-cut away, so they have still difference because guitar with cut away sounds bright but guitar with non-cut away sounds more natural, more full, and more bass sound
I'm really new to acoustic electric guitars so sorry if I sound dumb. I was at a music shop about a month ago and I was looking at an acoustic electric guitar and the hole at the bottom of the guitar were you plug it in was right where the strap button would be. With that guitar would I not be about to play with a strap on? Please tell me how this works I don't want to have to go on a 3 month mission to fing out.
Ut I wanted to hear what they sounded like. Thata kinda what the video implies. Great for the information, Shame there was no sound to compare them with one another.
It wasn't until watching this video and a few others like it that I realized that my acoustic is an acoustic electric lol. I figured it was just a modified acoustic guitar when I saw the amp and tuner
MEA-17N Is this an accustic electric? and i need to know how to plug it in but not an accustic sound. I want an electric sound more..? Does that make sense??
Wolf Blood maybe consider an electric guitar the quality of an electric guitar would be better because the pickups would handle effects better but if u want to be able to have an acoustic as soon as u unplug then you can add effects to it just as u would an electric guitar. And yes that guitar is electric acoustic

I would say just get acoustic electric once and for all, so you don't have to upgrade later. + Once you learn you can plug it in to an amp and jam with your friends ☺
Clue is in the name… acoustic is not electric. So an ‘acoustic electric’ means you can play both sets. If it was simply electric, guess what, it would just be called an electric guitar!
It's funny that people who have played for 40 years can't tell they're out of tune. I've played less than a year and I'm in no way what I'd describe as good. To a non guitar player I can make it seem like I know what I'm doing but a pro would spot me immediately. I can't play even a partial barre chord BUT I can tell if my guitar is even slightly out. I can't tune it by ear and once couldn't find my tuner (still haven't actually, I just ordered a new one) and had to get my tutor to drive over and tune it for me. He said it was only out by a bit, and I must have a naturally good ear. It didn't sound a little bit out to me, it sounded awful, I couldn't play it like that. I honestly don't know how anyone could play for that long and NOT develop an ear for it. Unless you taught yourself to play, on an out of tune guitar, never let anyone else play it or hear you play it, never played anyone else's guitar that WAS in tune. That's the only way I can think it'd be possible, songs would just sound wrong. I'm gonna learn to tune it by ear though so I don't have to worry about losing my tuner or the battery going dead etc. So my ears are THAT good yet really
Buy acoustic if you want to learn how to play, it is cheaper, if you intend to play to large crowd then go for acoustic electric, you can plug it to an amplifier to amplified the sound.

The Acoustic-electric has a built in tuner, which seems beginner friendly because it makes the Guitar alot easier to tune.
this helped me a lot and im a bigginer thank you and the old guy has a great smile :D
The built in tuner is also great especially for the 12 String Guitar because with that many Strings, the built in tuner will help with tuning it up.
But sometime built in tuner is not accurate , compare a tuner clip

Beautiful guitars (too)
what are the price differences between two exact same guitars but one is acoustic and one is acoustic electric?
Acoustic-Electric Guitars & Electric Guitars (even the MAB Double Neck Guitar) are great for churches cause they have an elaborated system.
I ordered a ZAD900CE before Christmas. I am looking forward to March so I can do My unboxing of my Dream Guitar. I know it will be worth the wait.
The Acoustic Electric Guitar feels much like a Solid Body Electric because the Strings are thinner, the neck is skinnier, and the body is smaller.

Is a semi acoustic guitar and an acoustic electric guitar the same thing?
Yes IMO, grtz Luc
Gregory Jackson no
Semi-hollow is not the same as acoustic. Semi-acoustic is not a thing. An instrument is either acoustic or it is not, but can not be semi-acoustic.
