The guitar is a tactile instrument. You’re using the flesh of your hands to interact with it, and regardless of everything else you use, the sound you make comes from you. Every guitarist sounds different, and that’s because every guitarist is different. That’s the beautiful thing about playing the instrument

Oddly, last night my daughter was practising in the garden for an outdoor gig this Saturday. She has not gigged in years, but previously just plugged into the venue's PA. This started with the 2 channels one her own Bose PA. Not happy with the guitar sound, we plugged the accoustic guitar into my Boss Katana. It has an accoustic setting, infinite, sound & effect tweaks plus the choice of the 25 or 50 watts. Super solution, very happy, Smack Inn Whitstable here we come.

This is so good. I only started learning how to play the guitar 6 weeks ago & I'm documenting my entire learning journey on here so this was super motivational!

Great video! I’ve tried many acoustic preamp pedals over the years (Boss AD2, NuX Optima Air, Zoom A3, LR Baggs Session DI, Fishman AFX Pro EQ Mini, Animals Firewood Acoustic DI, Orange Acoustic Pre TC). I like them all, for certain applications, but the Orange Acoustic Pre TC produces the best sounds I’ve heard. Of course, it’s by far the most expensive unit, and it’s no longer in production. Silver medal goes to the Zoom A3, which has also been discontinued. It is inexpensive and packed with so many features (effects, boost, tuner, mic input, stereo outs, DI out). Bronze goes to the LR Baggs Session DI, which makes all of my guitars sound great through Bose PAs.

Having a Bass Pre-Amp is such a great idea, definitely going to be an add on my acoustic board. Right next to my Reverb and Delay. As always, love the playing. Thank you, Megan.

There are a multitude of options available right now that are quite effective at achieving a sound I like from my acoustic guitar through the FOH system. You've featured several here. But in my 43 years of experience as a performing musician and sound technician, getting a good acoustic sound to the audience is not the hardest task. By far, the most difficult challenge, typically, is to get the acoustic player enough volume in his or her monitor to facilitate a comfortable, enjoyable playing experience.
Sure, IEM's solve that problem. And when playing in a near silent venue where the audience is there to hear you specifically or maybe in a small coffee house, feedback is much easier to eliminate.
But it's the bar gigs or gigs where you're providing background music for an event that begin to be challenging for a solo performer who runs his or her sound from stage and uses a monitor wedge. Often, background chatter or noise is quite loud, requiring more volume just to be heard and to hear yourself play. Feedback begins to become a problem.
I use a wedge for a multitude of reasons, the main one being that with IEM's, I feel so detached from the audience and my surroundings. So much so that the distraction even affects my balance, my vision, and my ability to focus clearly on the many details of a good solo performance.
I would love to learn tips, tricks, and approaches to this challenge that have proven successful for seasoned performers watching this video.

The EHX Bass9 pedal was a game changer. I use it to sculpt the bass end of the spectrum. Much better than the octave pedal solution.

Very informative video! What are your thoughts on multi-effect acoustic pedals, like the Zoom A1 Four, Boss VE-8 or Boss AD-10?

What tuning were you using on the guitar and what were the open chords you were playing in the intro? Sounded great!

I exclusively play electric but I do own 3 or 4 acoustic guitars as thats what I learned on so many years ago. Was thinking about trying out acoustic sets and this video gave me a great starting point in terms of amplification. (Was all good, but I'm a start small). Thank you.

I'm curious to know if you have tried the Tonewood Amp with your acoustic guitar? I saw a video with Mike Dawes, but curious what your thoughts are. It seems like a pretty impressive gadget.

Probably the most important is to have installed in your Guitar a Multi signal Blend style preamp with Mic + UnderBridge Transducers + Magnetic , probably the most amazing natural sound you can get from blending those 3

I’m fortunate to have a Kemper. That, together with Bert Meulendijk’s acoustic profile pack, and sometimes a modulated reverb (shimmer, crystal etc.) and my Taylor and Alvarez guitars sound great.

@@titorock21 Only a pleasure. Bert Meulendijk’s acoustic profiles are the best out there, in my opinion. Have a look on his website. Each type of profile is demoed, very accurately.

Im starting to build a pedalboard for my acoustic guitar. I already have an acoustic amp and a compressors and I was going to get a 7 band eq or a preamp pedal. What would you recommend to get first? My amp obviously has a preamp but it has only a bass and treble control. I wanted to get more control with the eq pedal but I dont know if I should get a preamp first

    Bonjour.
    J'aimerais avoir votre avis.
    Je vous remercie par avance.
    Le bonjour de France.

First thing you should always do with a Taylor is swap out the Expression system. Such a poor system on expensive guitars. I put LR Baggs Anthem SL in mine and its ace. Fishman Presys Blend in my Sigma and a Rare Earth Blend in my Takamine.

    • @SundaeDrives
      @SundaeDrives Před 7 měsíci

My band mate swapped his ES1 out for a Baggs Anthem, I swapped my ES2 out for the K&K Trinity but I have a 2011 Grabd Symphony with an ES1 & I liked it from the jump but as the guitar has opened up I've grown to like it even more. It's weird though cause I hear ES1's that I think sound awful & ES2's that I think sound nice. It's all so situational when you're an acoustic nerd chasing down tone perfection.
