One time, when I was fighting my Sister in my Ultra Sun and her Ultra Moon, she used her starter Decidueye, she made it hold Decidium Z and she actually used it on my Shedinja with Focus Sash and she realised that it's a Mistake like she scream like this "Okay, I'll use the Z-Move, wait, is Shedinja holding a Focus Sash? NO, I MADE A MISTAKE!" And she didn't take one HP from my Shedinja because of Focus Sash, she was pretty frustrated ngl lol.
Fact is though, it can use Rest for one single purpose, getting rid of paralysis.

I wished it worked that way. Turn 1: Initiate. Turn 2: Loaf. Turn 3: Execute.
That way, a Truant Durant can be slightly better, being able to avoid being hit for 2-3 turns rather than 1-2.
Of course, only slightly, cuz a competent opponent can just setup or use Earthquake or something.
And why teach Durant Dig?

Okay, Emboar using Conkeldurr's cinderblocks with Fling in the Anime was pretty sweet.
Another one is Mud Sport on Ground-type Pokemon. It weakens Electric-type attacks... except, well, Ground-types are immune to electric attacks. I guess it's usable in double battles, but it's still next to useless.
Also in single battles with switching, right?

@@PrinceDinoboy however. Some grass has “chlorophyll” that sharply boosts speed in sunlight and also negates 2-turn solar beam/blade.
Not to mention boosts synthesis recovery amongst others.

Eelektross with magnet rise does have a cool use though. If you can skill swap wonder guard onto it after it uses magnet rise, it retains its lack of a weakness, making it so all actual attacks don’t work on it.
You can't skill swap Wonder Guard. It's one of those abilities that cannot be copied or replaced, like Battle Bond on Ash-Greninja, Stance Change on Aegislash, Disguise on Mimikyu, Shields Down on Minior, etc.
You unfortunately can't skill swap it, if it were that easy it would be broken so they thought ahead with that one. Doesn't mean there are no more convoluted and difficult to pull of ways of doing it though. You can use the trace method for opponents and the entertainment method for double battles. You can get sturdy on it with mummy iirc.

But there is one strat in double battle where you have shedinja use mimic on a Pokémon that used entrainment(move that gives the targeted Pokémon the user’s ability) and give wonder guard to a arcanine that has used burn up(loses fire type) so it doesn’t have weaknesses. Also use safeguard to not have status conditions
6:28 Klutz is actually a great ability for collecting items. My Swoobat (with Klutz) knows Thief and I go around stealing held items from wild Pokémon to give to my own Pokémon. When Swoobat steals single-use items like berries, I don't have to worry about her using up the item before I can take it from her. This makes collecting items from wild Pokémon so much more efficient. I love Klutz.

I feel like its worth pointing out that while Truant pokemon can't use two turn moves that hit on the second turn, they're great for two turn moves that hit on the first. Hyper beam, giga impact, etc... You hit like a freight train and then on the recharge turn you're loafing around anyway, and then you can do it again.
The only downside is that you cannot switch out on the recharge turn.

Well, in Mew's defence, it IS the cutest Pokemon. Well, that's debatable I guess, but it's definitely one of the cuter Pokemon. You figure that if Pokemon were real, it would work quite often as a defence mechanism (since while Mew is quite strong, it doesn't really seem very keen on actually fighting). It can also use transform, so presumably it could alter its pheromones to work on its target, regardless of its gender.
It's one of those cases where something logically should work, but doesn't due to arbitrary game mechanics.

There is something I love about Shedinja.
It has some Defense and Sp.Defense stats.
Which are useless when you have 1 HP.
Therefore its base stats total is quite a lie.
These stats are for the purpose of Transform. Its Defense would also help if it uses Body Press. Though I do not think it can use that move, also not sure if it can use it through Mimic/Copycat/other similar moves.

There are moves like transform or guard swap that actually make Def/spdef matter, hence why it doesn't just have 1/1/1 + offense/speed. HP is ok since the guard swaps don't care about HP and transform doesn't take HP into account.
Slakoth can learn sunny day at level 13, so at least you wouldn't have to wait for a drought to use solar beam.
Although I suppose the flip side is that you have to use an extra turn to use sunny day first.🙄

I understand Mew learning Attract since, since it can typically learn ANY move that can be taught VIA TM or Move Tutor, provided the move isn't something super specific like the Starter Exclusives or Draco Meteor, but Attract is a TM in most games... so it makes sense that such an oversight could happen
Cryoganal, Minior and Dhelmise on the other hand... not sure how that happened
My theory is that those Pokémon might have been originally supposed to have a gender, but they ended up genderless in the final product, and by oversight the devs forgot to remove Attract from their move list.

I had no idea Role Play was a move until some random Kadabra used it during my Sapphire Nuzlocke. I was speeding up the game so Role Play just kind of popped up on the text box for a few seconds and then my Flygon killed the Kadabra. Shadow Tag does not work on other pokemon with Shadow Tag, but Mean Look does! Therefore, if you're facing a Shadow Tag pokemon, you can still trap it using Mean Look.
If a pokemon with a super-weather ability faints or is switched out, that super-weather disappears, but other super-weathers aren't set up automatically, therefore allowing a super-weather-pokemon to be on the field without a super-weather, which allows Sunny Day or Rain Dance to be used.

@@xatuyou8045 it can, that's true! however, if you have a mon who knows mud sport, and you're in a situation where there's electric type attacks to weaken in the first place, you're probably better served by just attacking outright-double battles are rare outside of competitive, and again, most of the pokemon that learn it are ground types. there are situations where its use might be relevant, but they're so niche as to be effectively negligible, especially when considering how many better avenues of approach there are. why have your mudsdale spend its turn covering your gyarados' weakness when you could just swap it out for a less vulnerable mon? or just remove the electric type threat in the first place? or have the threatened mon boost its own defenses with a more widely-applicable move? it's not useless, per se, but it might as well be pointless considering how easily its application is made redundant

@ 8:38 In his X Wedlocke Marriland had a Shiny Slurpuff he named Cocoa. He used her on his team after one of his Pokémon died in the Double Battle outside Reflection Cave. In Reflection Cave when battling the Black Belt that has Sawk, Marriland became concerned due to how much damage Cocoa was taking from Sawk’s Retaliate. He tried using Rest to heal Cocoa, but of course, this didn’t work as Cocoa had Sweet Veil as her Ability. It’s actually a really comedic moment that Marriland even laughed about for not realizing what was wrong.
The best way to utilize Insomnia-Rest Duo, if you have an opponent that knows rest (aka Snorlax), use worry seed.

Pokemon games are really easy, 95% of their players actually *grind* in Pokemon games, something that has *never* been required.
I found a ROM hack called Rutile Ruby and Star Sapphire, they give the kind of challenge I want.

I haven't tested it, but apparently recharging moves, like Hyper Beam and Giga Impact, can be used by Slaking and are very powerful.
The recharging after using the moves and the loafing around happens simultaneously.
This basically allows Slaking to use Hyper Beam and Giga Impact without drawbacks.
(Hyper Beam is physical in gen 3, but in any other gen Giga Impact is better)
If shedinja uses final gambit, it will faint, and deal 1 damage.
That isnt useless.

Here’s a strategy I learned from Piers:
Give a Malamar with the Contrary the move Superpower. Contrary is an ability that have the opposite effect of whatever stat change you give it. Superpower usually would lower Attack and Defense, but with a Contrary Malamar, it raises it Attack and Defense instead. Life lesson for you today people. You’re welcome.

The loafing turn allows you to switch out, but the recharge turn doesn't. Anyone who's faced down a Dugtrio or Gothitelle knows how awful it is to not get to switch Pokémon.

that shedinja segment gave me a laugh with rest and final gambit...like wow, what a laugh.
For Slaking using The Normal Stab Ultralaser, because the turn when Slaking rest from Ultralaser, is also the turn who he does nothing, so Ultralaser is the best move for Slaking.
In a double battle, you can get a truant pokemon and something that knows an ability switching move and then you can have an op non-truant slaking
