Ryan - for many years when I used to live in Toronto (late 70's to 2006) I bought and resold all kinds of antiques, etc. If you plan on selling your Louis Vitton items, I suggest you sell the whole lot as a collectors set. You can sell everything at a higher price than individual items. Just a suggestion.
I also thought, initially, that he should sell it as a set. In a Lot. But, it's Not a "set", is it? There are Americans who would Love to spend a small fortune and buy just One Vintage L.V. bag... it really depends on how fast Ryan actually Needs to make his money back. Anything more than a 20% profit is ideal but, there is always that someone, somewhere, who needs that one thing and would overpay just to seal the deal!! My Mother's wedding china would sell, easily, for hundreds of dollars.. but, one single replacement dinner plate is $40!! A replacement piece for the serving set is $100, alone! It depends on the seller's networking capabilities and time sensitivity, in flipping items, as to how much one could Really make. Also.. Americans are More than willing to pay for the shipping!!
Before you clean the brass fittings, I would recommend you look and see if that would affect the value. Some antique items lose much of their values if the metals are polished.
Thanks Ryan; your vlogs are always so interesting, full of antiques/vintage shopping, French properties, and educational too! I love learning about the places you visit. 😊
Aww I was hoping to see more of your dad's donkeys, they are just lovely. Your Dad is charming also, I can see where you get your humor from. Thank you for the holiday videos.
Nice bargains Ryan!! Love LV new and old. Good idea to hold. Your manbag you should use. Just use to enjoy. The vintage suitcases are now being used in decor in bedrooms, etc as a piece of elegance. Trunks are really valuable if you find any of these. Now being used as decorative pieces. Anyway, Thanks for sharing!
Not if it is done well by a qualified craftsperson. I would see LV about it. They are geared up to repair their items. If you ever sell, any repairs do need to be disclosed, but the value should only be negatively impacted if a repair is dodgy. And I have never heard of that happening with LV.
This makes perfect sense as an investment given your experience and interests, and those are beautiful items. Just remember that the world of collectibles can be volatile, and don't forget to take inflation into account when deciding when to sell.
Having 4 pieces in one set will look very nice where you hang your hat. Keep them covered with a blanket when in your car though, don't want to temp anyone to break a window.
I love watching your channel and when you tour France. Fun fact about the House of Vuitton: The family's eldest son, Henry, was a regular at a popular Gestapo cafe, and "was one of the first Frenchmen to be decorated by the Nazi-backed government for his loyalty and his efforts for the regime." And its reported by various outlets online, that the House of Vuitton was a big contributor to the Nazis back in the 1940s. My question is: did the house of Vuitton support HItler? As always do your own research, and Ryan your the best!!
Ryan, contact Lydia And Ali Millen-Gordon, CZcamsrs in the Uk. They would probably purchase the lot. They collect the hard luggage pieces. Remember to add in you cost to the auction house in the sale.
Ryan even if you kept them for yourself it’s ok. You work very hard and give so much to those around you. You should have nice things to enjoy. I hope you get a fabulous return!
Well done these purchases!! I buy and sell vintage fine & costume jewelry. Love to find good stuff. Those LV items were gorgeous ! Happy New Year, Ryan!
Enjoyed the video Ryan and seeing the items you purchased at auction. We have have be cautious here in the USA. There are counterfeit Louis Vuitton items here at auctions and before we can resale they have to be authenticated. You take care and God bless.
What a fun video, Ryan!! I love to hear about your ideas and thoughts on things like this! Awesome!! Thanks Ryan!! Best regards for the holidays and the new year!! Best of all from snowy Norway!!
I have an enduring memory of visiting Blois as a college student. The Poulain chocolate factory was still operational, and the whole town smelled like chocolate.
Buying and selling luxury goods is a niche market where you really need to know the target audience and what they are willing to buy. Some items have gone to the way side due to usability and resell value, but generally hold their value. So good choices Ryan. Channel is another luxury brand that is hot and has high resell value. There are some luxury resell shops where pricing is set at a fair rate, so they are a good way to balance pricing accordingly. Japan has multiple luxury resell shops where prices are truly reasonable. Keep your eye out for Louis Vuitton's yearly sale where you can get items for a steal!
There is a shopping channel in the US, Gem Shopping. They have a vendor intermittently who sell collectible designer bags ( a woman who also works for her father who sells vintage jewelry). You might enjoy seeing what she sells and at what prices.
Ryan, you’re very knowledgeable about vintage and antique items and I know you love shopping at antique stores. You might consider buying some things and selling them in an Etsy shop similar to Shawn’s. He would be a good person to give advice and I think you’d be very successful. I’m sure these LV items will increase in value and they’re beautiful. Love seeing quality items.
Nice investment items, Ryan! You do a good deal of research and you have always loved vintage cases/ trunks, etc. so these items seem just the ticket. 👏🏻
Holiday Bargain splurge. "Enjoy them from a distance" interesting thought. If I had them I would use the sh-- out of them. lol Maybe the purse a gift for "Someone special" ...just a thought.
I used to love going to auctions, this husband isn’t into it though. Here in South Central PA, we get a lot of farming related implements from machinery to kitchen ware. Good luck with your purchases. Enjoy your family. Hope you had a great Christmas.
Can you imagine handing those cases over to baggage handlers/luggage beaters in an airport lol! These cases are only to be seen but not used... Just bear in mind that when the recession really hits hard (we're only in the early stages), the market prices for luxury goods might be much reduced....
Nice quality pieces Ryan. No matter what any naysayers expound, High quality pieces of any sort will always have an aftermarket. Not all antiques are a sure thing, thats what makes the market challenging as societal tastes ebb and flow. Dark furniture is a good example. Its cheap currently because its not in favor with the neutral, shiplap loving HGTV crowd. But a quality piece, can be picked up for a song and grow in value due to its historical and limited nature. Buying in smaller town auctions is also a brilliant move. You could actually flip those quickly just by taking them to Auction in Paris or New York and attracting the big bucks. Have a lovely time with your parents. I would suggest spending time and asking questions, talk about their lives growing up, their parents, their secret recipes. If you can film it, or audio record, all the better. I bring this up only because I lost both my parents a couple years back, and to this day I kick myself for not asking more questions of their lives, etc. not that yours are going anywhere, but its important to embrace and show your love at every opportunity. Peace to you buddy!
Back in the 70's one of my brother's use to work at Saks Fifth Avenue in Detroit and use to pick up Louis Vitton bags at bargain prices. Thanks for the little tours of the towns.
I had no idea who Louis was i had to Google to find out! Thank you for your video, very nice! The 70's or 80's quite old!! That was funny i was born in 1954! I guess im ancient!! Hahaha!!!!
Love the video it was such fun seeing the sites in Frances and the items that you got at auction are fabulous. Good investment on your part. All items you could sell as set. And make your money back and alot more.
Hi Ryan…I thought you wanted to start saving for a home first…you have to be so careful buying second hand Louie bags as they could be fakes…not a fan of them bags tbh..but still interesting .
As you know condition is everything with these things and using them at all is risky. Safe storage away from damp and any insects is key and for heavens sake not in the loft!
Awesome video , I totally understand about having physical investment items that you can hold in your hands and appreciate while you have them as I do a similar thing but I invest in precious metals like gold , silver and platinum and I buy from a dealer with a good reputation and the equipment to test and make sure it’s legitimate on that note do the auction houses you buy your LV items from give you some sort of documentation as to the items authentication as there is so many copies out there in the world now I’d be too scared to invest in luxury goods as knowing my luck I’d buy a copy.
I agree with you Ryan, investments you can touch or even use are the best;👌watching a few sports car reviews recently, luggage space for that trip is rather limited for suitcases, soft bags are all important way to go, just saying 😉
The crazy part if you never considered listing them all to get her as a collection cuz I see collection they might actually be worth more look it up. I remember in the past I collected different items I knew they were related but just you know stack him up in the closet and then one day I decide to find out how much they were worth because I had one it would have been a simple price but because I have all 16 items of the collection eventually was quite hard to collect them all for some people and it added a big value to itself so I actually made thousands look up what you're missing like the wallet and the shoe bag I believe
You made quite deals on your items. They do sell quite well! I would use that man bag! So let me know if you want to sell that small bag. 🥰 I’ve never owned one. And cannot afford a real one and would dare buy a used one as I am not a risk taker on those purchases. Great finds Ryan.
Merry Christmas To You and Your Loved Ones, The more I watch you, the more I keep getting the sense that you would be a very, very good real estate finder. You would charge a finders fee for finding a property for people to bid on. It’s would not be your problem if their deal does not go through . This would coincide with your desire to find yourself a chateau to renovate. You could specialize in derelict ruins in France. It would require you getting in touch with the abandoned chateau seekers like Bros of Decay. Keeping a registry of these properties and offering your services to represent/ help people if the are out of France. Your knowledge of construction - you could, for a price, provide a rough order of magnitude (ROM) A best guess estimate to fix the visable estimate to renovate/ fix the issues with a property. No legal representation, it’s just your best guess, which is not intended to be accurate but will highlight major issues you can easily see. You’d be fantastic!!! God bless, Jen
It sounds like you've purchased everything at a really good value. Might be fun to take one item and resell it and then look for something else and keep reselling to compare how that money grows vs. holding on to the other items over time. Yes, best to stay away from crypto and the like due to the market instability!
Oh my goodness 😳😍 Ryan what a wonderful video I absolutely love your purchases What deals darling 😍👌💞 I love LV they keep with your Investment actually 👌and I must admit I have quite a few 🤭🛍 If You you decide to sell these Beautiful bag's I would be very interested darling...

I still live in Toronto and it's a great antique and vintage market. Well said on selling as a set.

Thanks Ryan; your vlogs are always so interesting, full of antiques/vintage shopping, French properties, and educational too! I love learning about the places you visit. 😊
Ryan, we love you. You give us great joy and a smile on our faces.
Great bargains! You could make those vintage goodies work for you by leasing/renting them for advertisements, filming, etc.
Aww I was hoping to see more of your dad's donkeys, they are just lovely. Your Dad is charming also, I can see where you get your humor from. Thank you for the holiday videos.
Good job Ryan. I hope you do well with these purchases. You are always a joy to watch. Merry Christmas! xx
I wouldn’t clean the latches/ hardware. People love original patina. Cleaning can actually lower the value...
Interesting investment plan, Ryan! Thanks for taking us along on your excursions. I always enjoy when you travel around France.
Congratulations on such great buys! The suitcase is a work of art!
I hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas, Ryan!! 🎄🎅🏼🎁🦌
Solid finds. Are you sure you should clean the brass? I like the vintage look.
Happy to see you vlogging on your channel more often.
The craftspeople at Louis Vuitton can perform miracles with cleaning and repairing vintage cases. Thank you for the video!
Would a Louis Vuitton repair reduce the resale value of the collectible?
Not if it is done well by a qualified craftsperson. I would see LV about it. They are geared up to repair their items. If you ever sell, any repairs do need to be disclosed, but the value should only be negatively impacted if a repair is dodgy. And I have never heard of that happening with LV.

Well done these purchases!! I buy and sell vintage fine & costume jewelry. Love to find good stuff. Those LV items were gorgeous ! Happy New Year, Ryan!
From Australia. Any clues for me for a platform to sell vi tage fine jewellery. Thank you.
Love your shopping escapades Ryan and you have great taste!
Makes me thrilled I’m satisfied with a gym bag from walmart
Beautiful, Ryan. Do you have certificates of authenticity for them? If not, maybe you should look into getting them. Happy holidays!
Enjoyed the video Ryan and seeing the items you purchased at auction. We have have be cautious here in the USA. There are counterfeit Louis Vuitton items here at auctions and before we can resale they have to be authenticated. You take care and God bless.

It’s so fun when Ryan takes us on his adventures. 😊
Will it not loose value if you clean the brass? I think so. Please make sure.
I have an enduring memory of visiting Blois as a college student. The Poulain chocolate factory was still operational, and the whole town smelled like chocolate.
Before you polish brass check you may be devaluing them.
Thank you for the short visit to Blois. We believe our last name is derived from that town and the DeBlois family.
I can’t believe people pay more for a suitcase than I pay for rent! 😮

Because you have four items you have a collection which increases the value.
Thanks for charing ,its beutiful😍
I really like the Nantes presentation. It reminds me of a blend between your normal vlogging style and the style of your ebooks, which I also enjoyed.

Beautiful purchases that you’ve made Ryan.😊

Great LV haul and a good investment. 💝
A very good presentation dude. Most colourful and informative.
Enjoyed your presentation and how you give the correct pronunciation of French towns.
I used to love going to auctions, this husband isn’t into it though. Here in South Central PA, we get a lot of farming related implements from machinery to kitchen ware. Good luck with your purchases. Enjoy your family. Hope you had a great Christmas.

Once again a interesting blog . Think you are onto a good idea . Good luck with another little venture 🥰🥰
Smart, with current inflation levels you did well !
Back in the 70's one of my brother's use to work at Saks Fifth Avenue in Detroit and use to pick up Louis Vitton bags at bargain prices. Thanks for the little tours of the towns.
Great deal Ryan! They are very nice!
“From the 70’s or 80’s - so quite old …” Thanks, Ryan. Thank you very much :)
I dont really "get" the luxury goods market I guess. I cant even imagine paying more than 30 or 40 quid for a bag of any sort
Very nice purchases! Yes they will be valuable still so good for you😊
Dude, thought you were saving up to purchase a home for yourself?
Nice vintage Louis Vuitton bags Ryan. Great video thank you
Good investment Ryan! I love it!❤

I would be afraid to buy an LV knowing my luck I would end up buying a fake.
I believe you can get it authenticated before you purchase.
Love the video it was such fun seeing the sites in Frances and the items that you got at auction are fabulous. Good investment on your part. All items you could sell as set. And make your money back and alot more.
Happy Christmas and a happy new year 🎉
Good luck in making money on reselling these items. I hope there are loads of people who want to purchase these items.

Hi Ryan
Merry Christmas to you🌟
I love your purchase ❤
👍🌟
Excellent purchases
Beautiful items.
I had a good laugh when you said, “It’s from the 70’s or 80’s, so it’s quite old”. I guess that means I am too 😂😂
Me too. That was my era😄
Me too.. 70's and 80s were the best times. ❤
Yes!, the best! Before cell phones, people talked to each other! Lol ✨
Ryan, you are making me feel so old, 😢
Those are wonderful pieces!
It sounds like you've purchased everything at a really good value. Yes, best to stay away from crypto and the like due to the market instability!
If there is an online resaler in the USA after Jan 1st, if they sell anything online that is $600. or up, the IRS will be taxing them on the sale!
What a lovely memorial.
Great bargains Ryan. You will be traveling in style.
good stuff make sure you store them well
“It’s from the 70s or 80s so it’s quite old” 😂😅 Rude.
Oh my goodness 😳😍
Ryan what a wonderful video
I absolutely love your purchases
What deals darling 😍👌💞
I love LV they keep with your
Investment actually 👌and I must admit I have quite a few 🤭🛍
If You you decide to sell these
Beautiful bag's I would be very interested darling...
Those war memorials tear at my heart. There are so many names on them. A small town near us has two hundred names, and the town probably has under a thousand people. Blois has a great Capucin Monastery and pilgrim centre. It is dedicated to Our Lady of The Trinity...and has good showers ! Don't laugh...they are heaven if you have been on pilgrimage for weeks ! Thank goodness you missed the Crypto boat!
