I will post more info about the decat pipes after some more time. I'm having some trouble with the car this week and I'm not sure if they are the cause... I'll let you lot know next time.

Hey Danny.🖐 Please forgive the dad in me for saying it, but at only around 110 spent, you've definitely made a 'sound' investment.🤓 Saved some pounds and some kilos on that purchase. Ok, I'll stop now.😶 As I was watching, I thought ah ha, smart man, seeing if he can get the new system working before just yanking the old one out. But, it never fails... fate always has more in store for guys like us. Per usual, your perseverance and ingenuity (especially when it comes to saving a buck) paid off. These are life lessons. Being a man of principle sometimes pays interest.😉 Finding that old teletext menu was just unexpected, a bit of an Easter egg. As you say, "It's different, but I liiiiiiiiiiiiike it!"😂😂 Love your random voiceovers and impressions.😅😂 As for the ebay exhaust mod, it was surprisingly quieter than expected on video, but still good to my ears. Get the gaskets in and you're golden. Luckily, the M3 still retained that "raspy bastard" character we've all come to love.👌 You put on a hell of a show, mate. Good effort Danny lad. The nav screen at the front is just that. The menus and graphics are provided by the nav drive, which is the brains of the outfit. When you remove it it reverts to old skool at the TV tuner takes over as the brains of the system, and its barely gor any processing power, so you get 80's graphics for the menus. If you want the other menus back, you'll have to put the nav drive back in.
This is just for reference incase someone else needs the information. The issue isn’t between pre facelift vs facelifted (LCI). All the e46 cars with factory navigation like Danny boy here have the main connection in the trunk (boot). However, the connector you need (the one danny boy was looking for) is taped up on the blue connector wire that connects to the navigation unit up front. So If you buy a bluetooth adapter or a 3.5 aux wired connector… They both plug in to the same place up front right behind the navigation unit.
if you're using an Android phone, the quietness with the bluetooth could be an Android OS issue (had the same issue with an Audi adaptor). Turning on Developer tools and disabling the volume normalisation fixed it for me.

I think the GPS navigation system also updates the head unit when flashed my bmw ect like a software update.MAYBE!
Thanks Danny, at least I know not to buy these now. I’ll stick with my Intravee iPod thingy. I was hoping the decat would give more rasp at lower rpm’s. Maybe need to remove the resonator section for more rasp 🤷♂️

I have a face-lift m3 and get the same crap blue screen on the Nav when i disconnect the CD player. Made me chuckle.
I’m sure you’ve figured it out now Dan, but the weird graphics comes from the lack of nav computer fitted. When they die the screen itself does the graphics. If you want the Windows Vista look again the nav computer is needed again.
Yeah I got that far. Had to keep the gps for vista! 🤣

It's the back box you want shot of that heafty lump weighs about 40kg! I bought the M2 Motorsport one off eBay which sounded amazing. Not crazy loud but I was surprised as most I've said the cats and resinators make the differenece. Not necessarily so. Think I have a video of it on my channel

Done a shit load of searching for good exhaust sounds for e46 m3s and what makes a difference. The conclusion is that changing the centre section to a true x pipe that's runs into a single makes the biggest difference in sound.
Unless it's a US spec then headers makes all the difference for them

I prefer the sound of my 328ci. M3's just have that high pitched rasp. Quite funny how I did the exhaust a couple weeks ago and now I'm doing sound system and weight reduction
Hey Dan, I had one of those bluetooth things in my car and the volume was very low aswell, I remember changing some setting in the developer options of my phone that improved it, something to do with normalized volume or something like that, give it a google search to see if it is a thing for the 5 series ;)
I honestly like how the m3 sounds, although in my opinion I prefer the intake sound to exhaust sound, yours has a deeper sound to it that I like, that s54 sounds glorious at high revs

I’ve fitted a blue tooth in boot of my 2002 m3 Danny and I lost my screen but I lost my screen too I put the nav unit back in and it worked fine after, also it was a plug and play Bluetooth can send you a link if you need it

I dyno'd mine before and after Ebay decats. And it gained 10hp pretty much all the way up from 4k rpm, but the AFR was shite below 4k and unsafe. So i put the cats back in. The car is running Alpha N too.
When i put my bluetooth module in, i just used a random ebay one(maybe for some vauxhalll) was around 10quid if i recall and wired it into the bmw hidden aux plug next to the radio headunit and gave it a fused harness. It works great(factory windscreen nav on a 04)
Aenon head unit might be worth it. Get rid of all the OEM shit and get everything in one. I have one in my e90. Couldn't be happier.

Alright lad. BMW do a piece of carpet and a tray to fill the gap left by the CD changer. Did it on my 330 and actually got a bit of boot space back.

The exhaust sound was made this way on purpose by bmw to mimick the sound of an older straight six bmw race car. I actually really like it, sounds tuned.
