Still worth buying in 2020? Dude this camera is a dream camera for anyone that buys it in the next 5-10 years.
I agree!!
Burrito Bro's Videos Already better sensors out there? Not really. Check out dxomark and the values assigned to their three category rating system. The A7iii is still with all the top cameras. Not much has surpassed it.
@@Yupthereitism Most haven't fully caught up per Dxomark ratings, but there are a few that have! But still, no other camera in it's category has achieved it's low light capabilities and probably won't for some time. 😀
@@Yupthereitism the a73 will probably still be amazing for the next few years
Me watching this with my a6400 and a7iii savings jar
Yes. The answer is yes. But still watch the video! Plzzzzzzz. Also, which camera are you most excited about this year?
Brother please 🙏 you sell any camera
Just got one. And 24 Gm lens.
a7siii
I have an 18-mo old 7r3 and a 11-mo old a9 that still look new (i have silicone covers for all of my bodies, and SmallRig cages, etc.) What disturbs my rest is the 7R4 to replace both. Can't quite get my head around the huge $$loss the trade-in would do for me, but it still might be worth it. gah.

A7iii is the most solid camera I've ever owned. But I want an A7siii so freakin bad.
A74 coming first, and then 5, probably 6. THEN, the A7siii

I love my A7iii and can't see myself switching anytime soon since it has everything I need. Definitely worth it!
Wonderful camera loving the 4k video
The A7iii is perhaps one of if not the best camera ever made to date.
Thanks for the little shout out dude! Definitely agree the Sony color science isn't what it used to be (in a good way!).
I’ll take a 5% cut 😂
As much as I enjoyed this video, I find it hilarious when people are saying 'is it still worth buying a Sony A7III', it's by far one of the best camera at the moment. I can't afford one right now, but It's the camera I am going to get.
I just think we should'nt be obsessed by the latest technology as any dslr dating the last decade is more than enough for 99% of the situations
Most 2 year old cell phones can take pics as good as 10 year old DSLR's. Photo technology has come a long ways in the last decade.
Had mine 2 years and it’s still brilliant, amazing detail and very reliable.
I literally just bought the A7iii so I clicked on this video with trepidation... Glad to hear it's still worth it in 2020! I watched a lot of your videos in the run-up to getting it. I even bought the 85mm f1.8 to go with it (based on your recommendation) and I'm not disappointed; the bokeh on that thing is just beautiful. Thanks!
The 85 1.8 is LOVELY, especially for the price.
I literally just did the same thing you did. Just bought that camera and lens. Been using the sheeeeet out of it and I’m so happy
Christopher Caballero You got Instagram? I’ll follow if so. I’ve just started one up (late to the party) but check it out if you get a chance: oliver.halls
not much new cameras that came out since a7iii was released so yes it's still worth it. Ive had it for almost a yr now and love it. Enjoy your camera!
You might as well take the 24/105G
Thanks Chris. I am seriously in the market. I'm leaning towards the A7III for sure.
Picked up the A7III with Tamron 28-75 and love it! Yes it’s an awesome camera today!
Just got mine in the mail today!!!!! Thanks UPS for not leaving it out in the rain
Last summer I recorded a video at home with my a7iii. I live in Spain, in a very hot city. It was terribly hot, no AC, two softbox... I thought the camera would turn off, but, to my surprise, it didn't! I wouldn't have worried if it did, because the conditions were so extreme. But two hours of 4k shooting and no problem, I was amazed.
Only bought mine in September and I love it!
i bought my a7iii after watching ur videos. and up to now i still love my a7iii and watching ur vids 👍👍👍
Chris :) This was SO HELPFUL! I'm in the market for a new (old) camera and I am landing on the A7iii, your video is confirming my direction! Thanks so much!
Couldn’t agree more, I adore my A7iii 15 months on, autofocus, colour science, versatility and yes of course low light ability, it does literally everything I need and pretty much everything I want too!
Really solid points, Chris! I agree, still good stuff in 2020. I can’t think of one I’d want more (maybe the a7r4...but then the files are massive)
The average joe doesn’t need 60mp haha
Just what I need to see and hear. Thx mate.
Cheers 😊
Love my A7iii. Long time Canon user. Full frame, 2 card slots and autofocus system were key factors for me. On a budget so I have a 6400 as a backup. Have the 2 Tamron zoom lenses and waiting for the release of the 70-180 f2.8. Still use my Canon 70-200 f2.8 with an adapter. Thanks for the video!
How does it perform with Sigma MC11 and Canon lenses? Do you have all AF features? At this moment I use Canon 5D ii but AF is really poor. I think about A7iii to use with my Sigma 50mm 1.4 art, EF 85mm 1.8 and EF 70-200 2.8 for family portraits and dog photography. I would like to have as much Sony AF features as possible specially to track kids and dogs. And now I am not going to swap all my lenses to Sony lenses.
I needed this video thank you!
just bought it yesterday to accompany my a6500 for my next project. got tired waiting for a7siii. hopefully it can fulfill my needs until a7siii comes out eventually.
it will im sure!
Excellent video mate, as always! :) Although I am looking forward to the A74 coming out - if it comes out!
I'd actually just ordered an a7iii today and I'm rather excited, it is nice to see the camera is still getting attention :)
exciting :)
Feels like you're killing it keep it up!
The video I was looking for, thanks man. Got a question though, one of my shops is selling the A7Riii for 2,200 usd, you think compared to the 7iii (2,000 usd) do you think that’s worth it? Using it for portraits and weddings mostly. Low light is often an issue with the cameras I have used. Not sure how big of a difference with the two in low light are.
Thanks man for this great video!! it convinced me to buy me the camera!😊
I still have the a7ii and love it for landscapes.
Thanks for this video Chris! After taking everything into consideration, i actually picked up the A7III last week, and from a6300 to A7III, Pros > Cons :)
i buyed one today for 1.4 new! cant wait to recive it!!
Yes, it’s still a good camera. I highly recommend it. Appreciate the video fam.
yeah, despite some of the flaws, it still can do anything you want it to do. That alone makes it worth buying at anytime, any place
Just got the A7iii. No regrets! Photos and video are 🔥
good to hear James!
Thanks, just ordered mine!
Hope you enjoy it!
I just got an A7iii because of your videos! They were so helpful! The lens videos especially. I ended up picking up the GM 24mm 1.4 and the 85mm 1.8 as a start. I'm loving them! I'm coming from canon and I don't think it has been a difficult transition at all. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Jenny! Welcome to Sony
This camera has so many features with so many ways to take pictures and it's going take time to not only learned its capabilities, but remember to use the right setting to shoot properly. In the digital world you can't shoot bad pictures because you can shoot a thousand ways and keep the best pictures. The camera is like a machine gun and you only need to hit a few shots and the rest is just for fun.
I'm on the verge of buying the Sony A7III. Which lens would you recommend for shooting artwork (primarily oil paintings)? Thanks.
We live in a time where what you just bought is considered old outdated way too fast. A7iii will be viable for the next 5 yrs easily. It all comes down to what you need it for and do you "really" need the extra features. And will it improve your flow and production? Just because you can doesnt mean you should! Great video spot on 👍
Thanks for the review. I'm planning on buying one but I shoot a lot of weddings. Since you shoot weddings as well, mind telling me how is the battery life? How many batteries should I plan on buying for a full day of shooting?
I shoot ALL my landscapes at 10fps. How else
Could u possibly catch a glacier in motion as it flows down the mountain 😜. I agree the A7iii is a FANTASTIC tool to create video and photos with and with the current lens options probably one of the best values in full frame
hahahah
Hi Chris, did you find a way to assign the “My Menu Function” to a custom key?
Well im here having the A7R mark ii, live and well.. zero complaints ;)

Hey come on, the a6000 is still going hard in 2020 😂
I have to say I agree. I have been using the A6000 since I converted from Nikon to Sony. I have ordered the Sony A7iii and even when that arrives in two days time I will still be using my A6000. Some of the shots and video I have captured from that is amazing.
Still shooting headshots with it lol
Jose Lara lol! Don’t want to upgrade yet?
@@NickL0VIN oh I do lol. I actually had the a7iii but sold it off because I needed the money at the time and I knew the a6000 could handle the work. I have the a6100 now, but looking to get back into full frame sometime soon. A7iii, a7riv, a7riii, or maybe wait to see what the a7iv has to offer whenever it's released.
Jose Lara oh ok makes sense. At first I just thought you were the biggest a6000 fanboy ever and was gonna use it until 2030. Lmao.
Im waiting to see what the A7IV specs will be like before I get the III or get a IV
Any thoughts out there on the value of upgrading my a6400 to one of these? Better to use? Better images in real life? I already use FF 85mm & 28mm lenses on the 6400.
Hell yeah it still will be worth it! A7iii is a legend in my books!
Agree!
Thanks for the insights. I'm moving on from a Canon 7D from 2013 to a full-frame camera and I think the Sony A7III is the camera. Retailing at $1850 US, new w 28-70mm lens is probably going to be my next purchase.
WHERE is the A7III selling for $1850....and WITH the kit lens?

I jumped on the Sony Train and even picked up a A7II recently.
Yes me too for video great so far
Right on the money 👌 Chris! Totally agree 👍
Yes of course. I'm a fan
currently rocking an A7 iii /A7R iii combo... amazing capabilities. yes lenses are expensive. but once you shoot with them and go back to different brands you’ll see why ... but
you can get the 28mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8 both for less than 1K ...
I Shoot with a Sony 24-105mm f4 G on A7 iii, general photograhy, primarily travel with variation of street, buildings, people, portrait, and some landscape. I also do some video coverage of the same. The equipment combination is practical, but, I’m not thrilled with rendering or sharpness.
My question is would I achieve an improvement by upgrading the camera to A7 Riii and keep the 24-105mm?
I would gradually add primes like Sony 24mm f1.4 GM, 55mm f1.8 &/or 85mm anyway,
or should I keep the A7 İİİ and move to primes replacing the 24-105 zoom now?
Either way, is the 24mm f1.4 GM the right one for my genre of photography.
Many thanks
Just bought it I'm excited to get started
Enjoy!!
@@chrisbrockhurst do you reckon I could get away with using the kit lens 28 70mm f3.5 - 5.6 for the time being for professional shoots whilst I'm on a budget
Hey ! Thanks for the video. Could you do a comparison of some kind of your creative still vs other profile (like HLG3?) with your insights on it ? I'd be interested in watching this, I'm not very pleased with HLG color, nor with S-Log artefacting, and I'm wondering if in general I should give up a bit of dynamic range for these.
thank you for the video
Just bought the a7iii this year. Still worth it in 2021!
I have been saving up for this camera for a while. As I finally have saved enough for it I am also looking at the Fuji xt4 but over all I think I’m sticking with going with the a7iii
I will wait for the A7IV and then compare the two. Mainly because if I decide to go with the A7III at that point they will be cheaper.
Great video!
Straight forward.... I own the a7iii and was thinking of getting another full frame Sony was leaning towards the a7R iii but keep going back to the a7iii after watching each review or comparison... So guess my a6100 is going to be sold and me second camera will be another a7iii...
I love my two A73's, they do everything I need for my video shoots. Honestly all I'm looking for in the 4th iteration is removal of the 1.2x crop in 30fps mode and better ois.
Is it better for video than the A7R series?
@@CamillaI I haven't tried the A7R series so not sure. Part of the reason is if I'm going to spend that much on a camera, then it should have better OIS. Sony's OIS is just average right now that's why I stuck with the A73.
Sony a7iii with a 24-70gm is a beast!!!!!!!! Love my a7iii
I'm still finding myself absolutely amazed at what the a7iii can do. I don't think i'll need another camera for a very long time!
exactly why I made this :)
I bought one for video ,still blown away
I'm the 500th like but, thanks for the video man. I needed this and looking for an upgrade from an Sony a6000
Chris just a noob question about flash...why if my trigger i "on" i can see a brightest image than if is turned off? Thanks!
great video chris, greetings from indonesia
im a sony a7III user, a great hybrid camera for photo & video
hey! always amazes me how far these videos reach. thanks for watching
Hi Chris,
Solid video. Agree again with what you’ve said on pricing/good value for money, color “preference”, screen resolution (I use EVF mostly so don’t have a problem), af, 120fps slomo, lowlight, plethora of other features, etc. are all so spot on!
In fact, lately I’ve been using with my EOSR more but since your previous two recent videos, I went back to A73 today and the af is really fast and responsive. For me, I set the responsiveness at high and fast at standard, and the af transitions smoothly from blur images/background to being in focus (as if it’s done on purpose).
Eastcore also did a good comparison and paraphrasing, “both EOSR and A73 are fast” but A73 is more intelligent with their af system. And I can see why it is in real world use.
See their video (a bit dated but still relevant):
Eastcore review of EOSR vs. A73.
czcams.com/video/X6sBYdEzu8s/video.html
Nevertheless, it goes back to “use the tools that works best and/or does what you need.”
For stills, it’s the A73 and/or EOSR, depending on the projects/use cases. If it requires redundancy such as weddings and/or family events that cannot be repeated/recaptured, then I go with the dual slot A73. Same with sports and wildlife where I need fast shooting. Otherwise, I mix it up with EOSR for other use cases.
For video, it’s S1H for heavy setup and where fast af is not required (using mostly manual). For light setup and run and gun, it’s EOSR for daylight and A73 for lowlight.
that statement about the EOS and A7iii is spot on, both are fantastic, but the A7iii is still far more intelligent. I really like that, thanks for sharing
Just bought the Sony A7iii with basic 28-70mm lens. Was thinking of getting a Canon 35mm F1.4, but will need E mount adaptor. Have any good suggestions?
I’ve been thinking to switch from Canon 5d mark ii to Sony in my town planning to buy the a7r iii. Because of the 41 megapixels. And they said it’s out of the stock. But, they have A7 iii with lens 28-70mm. I’m so confused. Do you think i should go for it, or just wait?
Great videos with a lot of information. It will be great if you could let me know whether the Sony A7III has the time lapse feature. Thanks
yep it does built in.

I’m a big fan of the A7 iii! Great camera!
one of the greatest full frame cameras to come out! there is not a single other full frame camera that compares at the moment, some may have higher specks, but they fail in other things. the A7ii is one of the most well rounded cameras around.
Couldn’t have said it better
So quick and dumb question. Is the Sony A7iii worth getting a zoom lens with a greater range of zoom 28-200mm but supposedly it weighs a brick or get the kit lens that goes up to the 70mm and be happy with that. So many lens and my teacher is like get one with the 2.8 stop, but I'm like "Sure but it is only 70mm at full zoom". Or if 70mm is not a good enough range, what glass do you recommend? And what do you consider too heavy for a lens, a lens + body combined mass, and body mass only?
Travel hobbyist photographer getting his first camera, mother has a Sony alpha nex-r5 and thought it'd be a good upgrade for the two of us since we like her E-mount Sony camera, but I'm not sure if the weight and high cost of lens is worth it. Please be constructive and not roast the noob. ^_^
About to get it as my first camera. Anyone recommend a good starting lens?
This video is right before the world ended, you can still see the glimmer in his eye.
What is the Low price he was talking about? Did it go on sale? I've always seen it being sold for $2000 for several years now

Nice video man, I got mine 1 month ago, I heard sonys have an issue with the shutter, some of them break after 20k clicks, did you have any issues with that?
Can’t say I have heard/seen such a thing
I’m trying to decide between a Sony a7iii and a Fuji xt3. Both are highly capable but price is vastly different. Any help?
I only had heating issue once with A7iii. And that happened when I had 3rd party battery in it. Never happened with original one. So I think it has something to do with firmware. Anyway, great camera 👌
This is all depending on whether the a7iv is a refresh or a completely new camera from the ground up. If they stack the current sensor it will be a beast. We can look at bells and whistles like flippy screens and such but the a7iii became a leader due to its actual photographic performance, flippy screen excluded and it's still a leader. The menu is way more configurable than a Canon yet people complain about it even when an update created a personal menu. Yes the evf and screen need updating and the settings for video should be remembered when switching back and forth from modes. Stack that sensor and give either two uhs2 slots or internal memory and one uhs2 slot. The body is fine I like it small for weight on a gimbal. I would buy it.
I agree. Only incremental changes are necessary
If you are in the house can you connect to the mains? Or does it just work on battery
I am thinking to buy this camera but can we use vintage lens on it? and whats the market price for it? as of now
The A7iii is my next camera. I’ve got a canon 80D (APSC) and the Sony Rx100m6. I’ve enjoyed shooting with the mark 6, even with its tiny sensor. What I can’t decide is first lens. Candidates are: Sony 24-105 F4, Sony 35mm F1.8 or Sigma 24-70 F2.8. I noticed on the list the 16-35 f4 was the walk around lens of choice. Better fit than 24-105? Is there a first lens I’m missing? I shoot a canon Nano USM 18-135 variable now along with a full frame canon 70-300 Nano USM m2. I know I want to get away from variable glass if possible. I know the kit lens is variable but I’ve heard it’s even better than canons 28-70 kit lens. The camera is the easy choice, glass is the hard choice.
Can't wait for the A7IV to release....so I can get another A7III cheaper! A7III is just so perfect for me.
Not sure it will get much cheaper its such a good camera
Thanks for the video! Just don't understand what do you mean with ''lowest price it has ever been'', it's still selling for the same 2000usd as when it launched :(
i am thinking about buying a camera for the first time because i want to travel for a gab year
would you say the weather sealing is good enough to travel around east asia or africa for example ?
Sorry, prematurely sent. I wanted to add that holding the Sony a7iii with the GM24 f1.4 felt acceptable from a portability point of view I know the Fuji is a bit smaller.
Thank you in advance for your time & response.
I'm glad you didn't had any problems with the A7III, I had it overheat multiple times during summer, while taking photos, and wasn't turned on. It either shuts down, or the AF goes balistic.
that's very odd, sounds like you should send it in for warranty
@@chrisbrockhurst I did, and the answer I got was that it happens in warm weather. It was 45C on those days, works perfectly during winter, autumn and spring.
should i buy the a7ii or save money for another month and get the a7iii?
I went from a 7rii to 7iii and I must say, this camera is the best camera out here, cost and functionalities are on point!
How would you rate the A7rii for doing stills mostly compared to the A7iii?
