Here's the reason why Ahri didn't fight the guys before.
Ahri was with Leona (The woman with the shield) against Katarina (The red haired woman) at first. It was a 2v1 so they chased her.
However, it was all a trap, as Darius (The big dude with the axe that you should have recognized) and Draven (The guy with the spinning throwing axe/sword from the Awaken video which is also Darius brother) were waiting behind a tree. So now it was a 3v2, which then turned into a 3v1 as Darius took out Leona, leaving her in the floor, almost dead.
She ran, as she was at a clear disadvantage. Zyra (Plant lady. That's not clothes that she's wearing, she's just like that) showed up and stopped her with her plants. Then, just as Draven was about to attack Ahri, her team showed up.
Then the whole fight happened and she defeated Zyra. And, at the end, she only knew that Darius was alive and, her being a spell caster and all, she needed to find a way to get the upperhand as of course she had no chance against him were she to just face him close quarters. Things changed when Leona showed up and Rengar as well (Lion/Tiger dude), giving her the right opportunity to unleash her powers.
all your explanations are true but one thing wrong. Ahri didn't leave leona. When leona opened eyes, Ahri know she doesn't die so Ahri use her charm skill to force them to follow her. If they notice leona still alive maybe they would end her.
When she uses charm everything goes pinky and u can hear the seductive laugh.

There's one more reason, that last attack from Ahri is her ultimate, so she had to gather kills and experience to unlock her ult that she didn't have at the beginning of the "match".

At the start, Ahri used charm in order to lead the enemy (Darius and his brother Draven) away from the heavily wounded Leona (with the shield).
Also, it is sort of accurate on how to play Ahri, you can not really take any damage at all, or you are already dead (especially if outnumbered). Frontlines can take some damage, but backliners can't.
Ahri (Fox): Mage (assassin) - As a mage she needs to play it safe from range. With her secundary trait of Assassin, it means she can pick off a singled out enemy with charm
Leona (Shield): Tank (support) - As a tank she is a frontliner who's main goal is to prevent the enemy from attacking. Mostly she keeps the enemy busy while her allies can finish them off
Katarina (Throwing knives): Assassin - As a full on assassin, she needs to get fairly close, but can quickly kill any backline, as long as she doesn't get stopped in place by a tank (or other supportive champion)
Rengar (Big cat): Assassin - Also an assassin, can take a bit more damage than Kata, but is more risky as he needs to jump on his enemy
Darius (Big guy axe): Juggernaut - Can take a good amount of damage like a tank, but can deal a lot of damage as well. This is generally gated by that they can't do that damage directly, they need to ramp up.
Draven (Throwing axes): Marksman - As a marksman he can't take much, but given some protection, he can do a lot of damage (glass canon)
Zyra (Plant girl): Mage (support) - As a mage she can't take much damage, but she can keep enemies busy with the vines, and dish out damage as well
Graves (Shotgun): Marksman (fighter) - Also a marksman like Draven, but can nowadays take a bit more damage, at the cost of having to reload as his shotgun has only a few shots
Jax (7-eyes, cloak): Fighter - Fighter that can ramp up his damage and ignore enemy attacks for a while.
Nautilus (Big guy with anchor): Tank - As a tank he is similar to Leona in that he can take a lot of damage.

I'm so early😳 Well, since there aren't many comments Imma flesh this out a little for you haha.
It was early days for League so I think they were still finding their footing in the cinematic department. They were more flashy in earlier stuff which did compliment the lore at the current time. Since the reboot, there have been many more storyline driven cinematics and Riot have even stated that they would have been a music company if not a gaming one, which pretty much explains their quality bops over the past few years.
This cinematic shows off a game in Summoner's Rift. There are 5 champions to a team -
Team 1: Darius (guy with the battleaxe who is chasing Ahri the entire video), Nautilus (big guy with anchor), Katarina (stab stab kill kill), Draven (spinny swords) and Zyra (plant lady), and
Team 2: Jax (polearm go brrRRR), Rengar (kitty cat), Ahri (the disrespect🤣), Graves (double barrel shotguN TO THE FACE) and Leona (okay but hear me out but Favour please look up Leona and Diana (aspect of sun and moon) and then look at moonsun Decalcomanie era, I've been screaming on my lonesome for so long. Also she's my main uwu).
After Kat led Leo and Ahri into that trap, Ahri actually used her charm ability (usually affects one person in-game) on Darius and Draven to lead them away from Leo bc she was still alive. Since Leona still looked pretty battered in the last scene, she probably used a health potion (lol this is so weird to think about) to heal herself. Rengar has a cloak ability, which is why he can be 'invisible'. As to why Ahri didn't nuke em from the start: main character shit lol. Also she's a mage so I guess going against what appears to be a fed Darius is a little risky.
At the end you can see the enemy nexus, and is where the opposite team will respawn.
Ahri first used her charm, preventing them from killing Leona and force them to follow her. She cant use her ultimate skill before reaching level 6.
Yeah, Killing Zyra is just enough to get to lvl 6.
Glad you reacted to this after your gameplay! I'll try explaining some of what happened...
Yes, this is the most, and prolly only, graphic video from LoL. A time when they are big enough for this kind of video, but not too big for companies and media critics to bash all the violence and gore, blood, sexual innuendos, and use of cigar.
This is a mix of both in-game and real life scenarios thus some actions are questionable. In-game, you cannot do a fist fight on trees, or push someone to block the attack for them, or shoot their weapon to cancel their attack. Skills shown also have cooldowns, thus Ahri did not use her "nine-tails" ultimate attack is coz of this. The scene was already around mid-game meaning, skills and HP (health) have been used. Mixing these with real life to make this video more interactive like manual dodging skills, and walking away from a sure kill.
Team A (Ahri)
Ahri (nine-tail fox)- well you know her from K/DA, but this is her default look in the game. When Leona (gold armor) was axed, Ahri saw that she's still alive so she used her "Charm" skill (the purplish smoke and eyes and sexy laugh) to lure the enemies away from Leona, which is NOT an in-game move since enemies will see the health bar and will just kill Leona. Ahri also used her other skill (Green Orb) against the plant lady, and again at the end (this time Blue). And finally her ultimate skill at the very end since the cooldown was done (and for finale effect of course). She also has her original look on Ruined King trailer.
Leona (gold armor lady) - she is a support/tank role and that is the reason she pushed Ahri away to block the axe. She used her skill where the shield glows before the axe hit to increase her armor (in-game). The light beam at the end is her ultimate skill, which probably also is in cooldown.
Rengar (lion dude with dreads) - he can leap (from bushes and invisible state in-game) towards the enemy, which he did here. The branches of the trees cracked on his tree fight since the real life parts kicked in, but in-game there are no trees to hide to begin with. At the end, he used his ultimate skill where he becomes invisible.
Jax (purple coat dude) - not much scene here, but he holds a lamppost as his weapon.
Graves (shotgun cigar dude) - This is before his rework. He used his smoke grenade at the team face-off part, his buckshot against the giant armor dude, and his now ultimate skill "End of the Line". That was written on the bullet that he used to kamikaze himself and the enemy. He actually became a meme in LoL community because they have to remove his cigar to avoid "promotion".
Team B
Katarina (red-haired assassin) - the knife-throwing girl that lured Ahri and Leona to the trap. Skilled showed here is her blink skill to quickly appear behind and enemy, though they only used a flash of blue light against Graves. You can see this skill in battle on "A Twist of Fate" video. I think she was once the "face" of LoL from the early days.
Daruis (axe, spiky shoulder dude) - after the trap, he jumped high and will axe Ahri before Leona blocked the attack. This is actually his ultimate skill where he can "dunk" enemies consecutively within a period of time, executing them.
Draven (punky dude that got mauled by Rengar) - Darius' brother. His weapon is a throwing axe, and he used it when they were chasing Ahri, the one the hit the tree trunk. He is the one on "Awaken" video.
Zyra (plant lady) - power of vines like Poison Ivy. She plants seeds and auto-attacking plants on the ground. And she can entangle enemies like what she did to Ahri. Although, enemies cannot surf their way around under the vines like what Ahri did here.
Nautilus (giant armor dude) - he is a dude in a nautilus suit trapped under ocean with an anchor for a weapon. His "stomp" skill that was shown was SUUUPEEER epic here, but it is a ads vs. reality of a burger in-game. It is also shown that when Graves exploded himself, you can see Nautilus created a green shield and tossed his anchor to the side. In-game, the shield is, well a shield, but his anchor throw is a skill where he will drag himself and the enemy to the center of the chain, OR when hit a terrain, will drag himself to the terrain for escape. He used that skill here since he is slow moving.
You can watch the behind the scenes of this if you want for you to learn and connect more on how the champions and cinematics were conceptualized and created by the Riot Team. And just like you said each champion is unique, and how they're created, even more so.

You asked why Ahri didn't do her thing right in the beginning. The answer is easy: This cinematic depicts an actual teamfight and Ahri is an AP-Carry, some kind of magic assassin. She is not meant to pull out all her skills right at the beginning of a fight. She waits for the right moment to deal the maximum amount of damage. Taking Zyra (plantgirl) out when everyone was busy with themselves and finishing off the already damaged Darius. If she blew all her skills against Darius right away Darius, who is really tanky normally, would just shrug it off and Ahri would have all her skills on cooldown being really, really vulnerable. The skill she used in the end with the three dashes is her ultimate. Ahri kept it in case she got into trouble and used it when the fight was almost over to finish off the last Enemy.
Ahri used charm to “lure” them away from Leona. That’s how I think of it :)

Ahri didn't use that attack in the beginning because it is her ultimate that she needs to unlock by accumulating experience killing enemies (which she did killing that plant woman for example). And at the beginning when she saw that Leona wasn't dead she used her skill "Charm" to lure that guy away from the woman to protect her.
Buy items in the beginning, if the enemy turret ring turns red get out and level up your abilities as soon as possible.

So I haven't seen anyone mention it. But Ahri's position was to be backline. Stay back, deal damage if you can & avoid everything. This cinematic is supposed to represent a big team fight between the two teams.
