Simcoe County's plan to boost housing supply for middle-income families: from rental to ownership

Simcoe County is examining strategies to boost housing availability, focusing on middle-class working families.
At the June 25 meeting, Josh MacLeod from N. Barry Lyons Consultants introduced a plan for affordable housing targeting households earning 80% to 120% of the median area income.
The action plan prioritizes attainable rental housing, market-rate rental housing, and attainable homeownership.
To meet these goals, N. Barry Lyons Consultants recommended fast-tracking priority housing projects, using publicly owned land for housing, simplifying development processes, and promoting innovative housing solutions and comprehensive data collection.
