The English translation apparently made him come off as egotistical and cruel when in the original he literally meant to harm to anyone and didn't really want to
@@MikhailTheDragonZero nah I don't think so. Even with the translations, it's pretty clear that he's knows he's just a pawn which is why he do what he does but he's actually very sweet without that mask of responsibility
God why did they translate '小姐/xiǎo jiě' into 'hey girlie' lmao wtf. It just means 'miss' or literally 'young miss'. He's using it in an honorific way? idk
it’s not a big deal honestly. i like his playful persona more, so personally i prefer the english translation. it’s not necessary for everything to be translated word for word
The art of translation is not just about the literal meaning of words, but also its interpretation. You don't translate "good morning" to "良い朝" (ii asa) in jp, you translate it as "おはよう" (ohayou) OR "おはようございます" (ohayougozaimasu) depending on formality . Unless ofcourse the conversation is like "Its a good morning isn't it?"
@@projectvodka7931 I mean sure, but it's like @sonicruled 1111 basically said, translations need to take context, culture and intent into consideration. Here Childe says “小姐,小心別動!” which means "Young miss, watch out/don't move!". But literally translated means "Small girl/sister, take care don't move". In Japanese he even says お嬢ちゃん ojou-chan which is much closer to the meaning of casually saying 'young miss' than 'hey girlie!', which is a bit of a weird thing to say in English. So the JP translation got it right, while the English is a little weird and could have been worded better. As someone who speaks both English and Chinese as well as Japanese moderately trust me when I say the localisation team made a weird choice lol Feel free to like it though, but for translation purposes it was a strange decision. And I mean if we're talking word to word translations TECHNICALLY 小姐 xiao jie also has the connotation/slang meaning of 'prostitute' in Mainland China - but obviously that's not what we're talking about here in the context of Childe (he's using the term in a more formal/old fashioned honorific way), and a good example of how the intention and context affects the translation.
@@averylfong4843 Got to be honest, the English translations in general for this game is pretty bad at keeping the spirit of things. Why are glaze lilies not called lapis lilies? They already kept core lapis and rex lapis themes. Or directly translate KeQing as Seven Star's Lapis Moon? It made me switch back to Chinese for comprehension sake. Like, how many EN players even know that people with Visions are called Genshin, when EN called them Allogenes?

His English voice is fitting but the acting itself is kind of stiff imo and just off enough that it bothers me. His Japanese voice is my personal favourite. I find it especially shines in his voice lines on his character page. His VA really knows how to seamlessly combine a chill, friendly tone with one that's chaotic and slightly unhinged. At least that's how it sounded to me. Makes me conflicted with the voiceover language in the Liyue storyline because I prefer Zhongli's English voice and Tartaglia's Japanese voice (>ロ<) His Chinese voice is nice but it feels a little too calm for my taste. @@theanonymousme6015 I don't have a problem with the VA himself and you're right, the voice direction plays a big part in how the end result sounds. I'm just talking about the voice acting, and I don't think it's bad - just doesn't sit quite right with me.
@@rarewaifu Honestly, I have trouble pinpointing exactly why the English voice doesn't sound right to me. I really believe this voice belongs to him. Again, everyone's mileage will vary. Also, in case anyone wants to know, I have English as the voiceover language by default and I did hear his English voice first, so it's not first impression bias.

Korean: Young, calm and 100% villian vibe, go listen to his laughing when mention about Zhongli too i think Zhongli will be shaking a bit
Actually and on the contrary, he's the older brother. (I'm referring to your opinion about japanese)
english voice suits him the most. it's right tone of voice and emotions really well matched with his character
But the translation is pretty bad at times :I
The English translation apparently made him come off as egotistical and cruel when in the original he literally meant to harm to anyone and didn't really want to
I agree but the English translations are so edgy that it made me cringe. A good voice wasted on bad translation.
@@MikhailTheDragonZero nah I don't think so. Even with the translations, it's pretty clear that he's knows he's just a pawn which is why he do what he does but he's actually very sweet without that mask of responsibility
nah JP suits him way better, the way he finishes his sentences in eng is ehh sounds like a YT commentator explaining step by step guides

中国版も中々カッコええな
As someone who speaks both English and Chinese as well as Japanese moderately trust me when I say the localisation team made a weird choice lol
Feel free to like it though, but for translation purposes it was a strange decision.
@@TuningAnApple lmao right? If they're gonna call the game Genshin Impact in English at least let the players know what Genshin is even referring to!

声だけなのに全然印象違くて、全言語好きだな〜
Doesn’t matter to me all of them are beautiful I love Childe
全部イケボなんだか、、、すっこ、、、
his voice in chinese is the reason i wake up every day
I love how the other languages called traveller in a formal (?) way then there's english...

I'm wondering if what he says will be different if the player chose Aether as MC cuz uh... yeh ;>;

@@rainclover59 as a Korean who speak the language, I completely disagree haha! Stuff like this, you just need to know and speak the language fluently to fully understand the tones and undertones 😂
Makes me conflicted with the voiceover language in the Liyue storyline because I prefer Zhongli's English voice and Tartaglia's Japanese voice (>ロ<)
His Chinese voice is nice but it feels a little too calm for my taste. His Korean voice sounds too stiff and serious.
Funnily enough, I prefer Paimon's Chinese and Korean voices. The struggle...
thats what im saying, the way he finishes sentences it sounds a bit off, the one liners are nice though kinda
JP sounds very natural and goofy very fitting
really? I didn't have a problem with the English VA at all knowing who he voiced as before this so all I could say it's just the voice director
I guess the best way I can describe it is that in English, it comes off more as someone trying to be Childe and I can't unhear it, while the Japanese VA just *is* Childe. I really believe this voice belongs to him. Again, everyone's mileage will vary. Also, in case anyone wants to know, I have English as the voiceover language by default and I did hear his English voice first, so it's not first impression bias.
His Japanese VA has some knacks for oniichan characters and some sort double-faced characters. Whoever cast him has great taste 💖
タルタルももちろんイケボだけど、息遣いとか、走ってる時息を呑んでる感じ、やっぱ悠木碧さんは上手いなと思う。
HIGH KEY love Childe’s voice in both english and japanese.
English: Come with me 🥰🥺
Japanese: Ojou-chan 🥰🥺
This was one of my favorite scenes in Genshin Impact, I had only heard is Japanese voice but like...the Korean and Chinese voices sound nice too
childe's english voice is actually the best english voice in the game. it fits too well
his “hey girlie” has the same vibe as howl’s “that’s my girl”
kimuryo is selling childe well LOL. the reason why i started playing was for the japanese VAs but the chinese and korean ones are really pleasant!

Chinese suits him a lot
It IS the original/what Mihoyo originally chose his voice to sound like :)
@@averylfong4843 It makes since because Mihiyo is a Chinese company
Yeah no doubt about it. It suits to him really goood. A bit matured and very playful voice, JP also nailed it too.
IKR IM HARDCORE SIMPING FOR HIS CHINESE VOICE
In chinese(the original), his name is "gong zi" which kind of means "young master", and it sounds really nice...
I wish english had a word like that other than "childe"... it sounds so plain
Small detail that i just noticed, after Childe clears the way and during him beckoning the traveller to follow him, his theme (piano part) was playing very faintly
日本が一番いいなと思ってたけど英語のタルタリヤもめちゃくちゃイケメンボイスで甲乙つけがたいな…
I like Childe’s voice in the Eng dub since it sounds young and playful just like his personality, his japanese dub voice is second to me
