i am really impressed with their innovation and progression of quad componants.
Just a short update about EVO + KISS.... With next KISSFC firmware release, you will be able to connect EVO with 1 wire to KISS FC and control it as you would be over crossfire with ANY supported by kiss receiver... You will have telemetry on the screen, virtual LQ, and access to EVO osd menu. For F-port users i also will show digital rssi.... ;) So basically, if you DONT use crossfire, you will benefit of all EVO goodness on your model ;)
As usual nice review, thanks for kind words about KKC, glad you like it.
I'm planning a video where I can show it in more detail as there isn't a lot of content showing how it will work..
Had to go back and rewatch in slow motion... 1:14 in the initial splash screen shows for a single frame. Lol
Good video Lee :)
Something weird with the render. How odd..
We learned something today 🤣
thanks to painless my favorite teacher Chanel .
Haha!!! :)
I've been waiting for this one Lee thank you so much for posting this video and happy to be a patreon now well worth every penny. 🙏
Thank you for supporting the channel! Don't forget you can get direct support form me now via Patreon. Happy flying!
@@Painless360 thank you I'll ask questions on there as they come from now on.
Hope you enjoyed your weekend 🙏
It definitely looks really nice, Lee! 😊
It should be really useful for models without flight controllers too!
MC's Creations you got my subscribe good Chanel 😉
It also has an onboard microphone
If you run your pixhawk on MAVlink, you should be able to translate that via Crossfire receiver to CRSF into the vtx. MAVlink on channels 1/2 and CRSF on channels 3/4
Hi, has anyone got this to work? I have a nano rx doing RC over mavlink to a pixhawk and CRSF output from nano rx to the Evo but am only getting TX power on the OSD, no FC info e.g. GPS data which is blank
Steve D I don’t have one. That’s the way it worked with a crossfire rx and a FC, but I don’t have a EVO to play with
If I hooked this up to a nano RX that was also connected to a matek crsf to PWM board (matek on outputs 1&2 set to crsf tx,rx and evo vtx to output 3&4 also set to crsf tx,rx) would I be able to see the telemetry from the crsf to PWM board on the osd?
Which better this evo or the pro32 hv? Too bad the pro32 hv dont have osd.
It is very nice but there are still lots of things missing, especially when is comes to OSD configuration and format.
love it.great company and products.
Mavlink support would be awesome! I'm not holding my breath though since TBS seems to really only be interested in their own protocols.
I'm not giving up hope yet. They have first rate support for MAVLINK in CROSSFIRE..
@@Painless360 is there a way to ask TBS the question / put in a request for mavlink to be added?
Hi sir. Could you help me?
I have a problem with the Tbs Evo set up.
Mine is:
•Tbs Evo upgraded to 1.0.5v. Betaflight 4.0.4. On BF Ports tab SerialRx enabled on UART6.
•CH.OUT1 and CH.OUT2 from the Nano Receiver wired up to the Rx and TX FC Uarts. CH.OUT4, from the Nano has to wired up to the SmartAudio/CRSF RX1 from the Evo. CH.OUT3 from Nano to CRSF TX1.
•TBS Agent GENERAL tab:
Data Port CRSF
Ext.Port OFF
Everything else by DEFAULT
•TBS Agent CHANNEL MAP tab:
Sticks ENABLED and AETR
So, when I trying to go into the Vtx menu with the sticks(Throttle Down Yaw Left) the Vtx Menu does not appear.
What it's wrong?
Not sure, let me know if you get it working in that config. I'd make sure that smartaudio is set on both. Best of luck..
@@Painless360 I've just Fixed.
I've changed the output map on XF Nano Rx screen on my taranis. Usually we use to put CH3 on output 3 and SmartAudio on output 4. But you have to put: Output1->CRSF TX; Output2->CRSF RX; Output 3->CRSF RX; Output4->CRSF TX and at this moment the Unify EVO will appears when we executing the crossfire.lua file on the taranis.👍😉
Nicely done!
can it work with Frsky receiver Eg. RXSR?
It has all the normal connections but unless you need a crsf powered osd then it's maybe not the one for you.
I just purchased a Unify Evo and am having similar issues with the Lua Script. Once I power on the vtx the nano RX option in lua disappears, and the Unify Evo option shown in your video doesn't even show up. Any suggestions?
I've asked TBS for advice but not heard anything back yet..
@@Painless360 Latest beta firmware for micro tx fixed the issue for me. Lua script runs fine now.
Hey mate, did you get the crossfire lua script to work in the end? I’m building a new model using Kiss V2 fc and My only concern with this vtx is if I use crsf protocol, I’d be losing the ability to change vtx settings via my taranis radio. If you have any suggestions that would be great mate. Cheers
I've not tried again after the video. Let me know if you get it to work.. best of luck!
Painless360 I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m sure that updating to the latest opentx firmware and updating the Crossfire Tx / Rx and running the crossfire script will do the trick as I posted the question on FB earlier and people are doing it. Alternatively, you can access the evo settings through stick input on the osd. Min throttle + yaw left I believe. It’s in the unify evo documentation :)
Hey, is any possibility run evo OSD with Pixhawk telemetry???
hello, i don't understand how to connect this TBS unify EVO to mamba FC, would you like to help me or show the video, please? thank you very much 🙏👍
Check out my ARWing Ardplane build, I use it there.. best of luck!
@@Painless360 ok, thank you :)
@@Painless360 czcams.com/video/YY5rRY9ZEC4/video.html this one?
Thanks for the vid Painless! Any idea how to hook up this VTx to a Nano rx via CRSF? Also, can I hook the VTx up using CRSF to a FC on a uart if I have a Nano rx using CRSF on another uart on the same FC?
Yep, check out the video on it in the Ardupilot and Matek F405 wing build playlist..
I think the question I have for this and the pro 32 is if you are using crossfire for control of a flight controller.. can you still connect these vtx s to the tx and rx pin together? On the same pins..
Sort of needing a full explanation on connection options and how too which would fill that blank gap.
I tried to connect the new TBS nano diversity reciever to the nano pro 32 vtx for smart audio and can not get it to work so the pin connection to do this must be different.. also for the pro 32 their is a button select for crossfire or smart audio.. ?
I've not used the Pro 32..
Hi. I have a crossfire nano RX in a zohd dart and using the tbs evo for fpv. I have RX configured with ch1-ch1, ch2-ch2 and so on up to ch4 and plane works great. Couldn’t get sbus to work on the sbus ailerons wire on the zohd stabilization board. Is there a way I can get the crossfire rssi to show up on the osd using the SDA, SCL pin outs? If I could get sbus to work I could use ch3 ch4 and set them to crsxTX crsxRX. Thanks.
I've not tried that, if you have a flight controller on the model then you can use LQ to monitor strength of the signal. If you get it working, please let me know.. Best of luck!
I finally got around to mess with setting up my crossfire RX to send signal strength to the EVO so it displays in the OSD without using a flight controller. I first had to update my TX and RX to the latest version (2.93). I am using a nano RX adapter which solders to the nano RX board. I had some spare BST extensions from my micro RX and used that for the BST port on the RX adapter but removed three of the 5 wires because I only needed the SDA and SCL connections. With the updated firmware the nano RX can now be a 6 channel receiver. I set the RX up like this
Output 1 - CRSF-TX
Output 2 - CRSF-RX
Output 3 - Ch 1
Output 4 - Ch 2
Output 5 - Ch 3
Output 6 - Ch 4
I wired the CRSF -RX and TX to the EVO for signal strength in the osd. I wired the channel wires to the stabilization board on the ZOHD Dart. Everything works great on the bench and doing a flight test here soon one evening.
What about syclops turnado osd did you tray it ? I’m beginners in this hoops confused between syclops and matek 405
I've not tried that. See the video in the iNav 2.1 series playlist for a preview of the flight controllers I've used in fixed wing.. Happy flying!
How do you hook this up to get current readings? Or do you have to get current readings from the FC?
You need that telemetry from something else..
does it have a microphone built on ?
Yep, see page 6 of the manual... Happy flying
I have the same set up to, can you explain where the wires go to get everything working
What is it specifically you're tying to connect up?
@@Painless360 trying to connect up my TBS CrossFire 8CH Diversity Receive to my Unify EVO vtm, like in your video
Configure CH7 and CH8 as the CRSF TX and RX pins on the RX and then connect the CRSF RX pin on the EVO to the TX pin on the RX and vice versa. You can see how I've wired it in the video. Hope that helps.
Painless360 thank you, you have been a big help in this hobby.
The RC transmitter that he uses in this video, does anybody know what radio transmitter model brand that is?
Or you could just ask me the question directly ;) Jumper T16. Video coming soon..
OK thanks, good to know. Sorry I didn't address you directly. I just assumed that CZcams creators were too busy creating content and counting their crazy Silicon Valley money to answer questions about their own videos. LOL .
you forgot the stick command as option to configure vtx ;)
Expensive but should be worth it. :)
not sure who this product is for tbh seems a bit useless for anyone with a racing drone.
If you want a better osd get a radix.
I thought that too. But could be useful to those flying kiss. But most betaflight fc's already has osd.
I didnt like this VTX. Also I have got an AKK FX2. It have a more long range high quality signal. Im very sad...
I wont put any tbs on any craft its the golden rule. No unifrys.
