    I grew up around Atlanta where there are many Koreans and we used to play this all the time in elementary and middle school. Randomly remembered it today and googled “Korean jacks” to see what it was actually called. This brings back sweet memories ❤️

    Brings back memories from my childhood before I immigrated to USA in 1977. I have a set of 공기 purchased during a trip to Korea over 30 years ago. I can still play well and my daughters (20 & 17) enjoy watching me play.

      But why would only girls be good at that? Because they said "What if you have to play Gonggi or elastics, boys aren't really good at those" a man with good reflexes could do that cuz I am a guy and Gonggi would be really easy for me.

    Three years ago, some Koreans taught me how to play this game. Now, I'm living in Korea and I've just bought this game because I found it in Artbox. As I didn't remember the rules, here I am. You make it look very simple, but it isn't! I have to practice hard!

    I used to play this game too in Peru, we call it “Jases”. It was really popular in my childhood, it is a really fun game. Thank you for the video 😊

    We used to play this too in my country in Africa as children. We did it with 7 pebbles. Nice to see that other countries know this game too, though the name is different.

    we have that too but we called them jackstone idont know if my spelling is correct but it pronounce just like that .. but in our country its round 10

    This is INSANE! We have the same game in my tribe! It's an old nomadic tribe in Iran. We have a few more steps after round five though. I'm not that good at it since I haven't practiced in years but my mom is great at it.

    You're so good at it. The intensity with which you catch all the pieces. I mess up while placing it at the back of my hand cause it doesn't form a proper curve to make them stay haha

    omg!! when i used to live in china i used to play this game all the time with my korean clasmates and they got us all these gonggis from korea and i just found mine and im trying to remember how to play!!

    In the scoring round, do you have to catch all 5 on the back of your hand and then grab x of them for + x points? Or can you get for example 3 on the back of your hand, end up grabbing one in the end and get +1 point? Does missing the back hand catch for just 1 essentially disqualify you from winning points?

    We Malaysian also plays this game. We called it "batu seremban". We played it with small stone or anything small aslong as we can hold it😂

    In Marathi (an Indian language) it's called "sagargote". This game was played widely by kids in India until my grandparents' generation. It's still popular in villages , and called by different names in different languages.

      I just recently mentioned this video of yours to my niece along with a picture I took earlier. And she looked them up on her computer! And managed to find two of them, one was a "tin box" and the other was "a sack" along with prices and pieces And sent me both pics! To pick which one I liked! And so I did that and should be receiving it this weekend!
      I can't wait to play with it! In return for her doing that?! I'd paid her back with a very generous bill 😏

    Bangladeshi people played this a lot! We call it phool gooti! But there’s another level where you make kind of a goal with the left hand, and with the right hand you have to keep bouncing one stone while at same time trying to put the remaining stones in the ‘goal.’ And then catch the stone on top of the left hand, and that’s it! So cool that it comes from ancient Korea!

    We play this too in Cambodia in the exact same way, but we use small stone and it is quite painful if it accidentally drop on the bone of the hand.😂

    We have this game in Singapore too. It's called 5 stones. Similar rules too. But is a game of the past. Kids these days might not play anymore.

    My sister introduced me to this when she was small. We were always playing this trying to master it. I have been trying to find it (I thought it was spelled KONgees or Kongi). I guess I just had the first letter misspelled.
    We did not use those rules, but we should I'm 40 and she is 33, I'm going to surprise her with those. Thank you!

    in my country we have the same game but we don't play those
    now but we also play a lot of games like 'περνά περνά, η μέλισσα' , 'πετάει, πετάει' , 'τυφλόμυγα' , 'ψείρες' , 'κορόιδο' and much more that i don't remember right now. Btw its greek games...

    Only thing I’m confused about is this… say I’m on the third round and I mess up, now I pass it to my opponent right but when he messes up do I start from the third round? Or do you always start from round 1 again if you mess up? 🤔

    We used to play this exact game in Kerala (India) using stones. It was called "kallu kali" ... Kallu means small stone (pebble) and kali means game. And elders wouldn't allow us to play it inside the house because it would bring bad luck or debt.

    I don't know abt other states in lndia but it's a very famous traditional game in Kerala..all the children in Kerala knows and plays this game.. And l got jungshook when l saw bts playing this game.. 💜💜💜

    Coming from a twice video where this was played....I played a nearly identical game as a kid called kugelach. They play it in every Jewish elementary school - It's basically a lengthened version of gonggi

    It's really challenging to play it, since you have to throw one of the pieces😂 but in our country we have the same game, we called it "jackstone" but the difference is that we have ten pieces and a ball😁 it really bring back memories😊😍

    I just watched your video in "how-to" play the game of Gonggi? And wasn't familiar with the game until I saw it being played by these K-pop girls, it was at an annual thing they do as "celebrities", at a competition called I.S.A.C.? Anyway. My point is and I live in the states, where can I purchase them? Besides having to look in the internet. Plus I just saw an earlier video where this lady used paracord and just finished making and showing her own "homemade" Gonggi pieces!
    What say you to that?! Plus I can make them multi colored gonggi pieces as well no?!

    I am here after reading an article about Super Junior's Yesung and his playmate. They play this game and I had to know what it was. Funny to realize that this is the same game that the cast of Busted! was playing on the episode I just saw yesterday. I did not know it was called gonggi. I wasn't paying attention. 🤣

    We played a game similar to it called Jacks, it had 10 metal pieces and a ball. We used to play outside on a flat surface. Your hands took a beating. If the concrete didn't hurt your hands the metal pieces would.

    This is like jack stones! There’s a ball involved bc you have to pick up a certain amount every time the ball lifts and catch it within one bounce

    In Malaysia, we also have a game like this. It's called batu seremban. The players can be any gender, but it's mostly played by girls. It's not originated from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, it's just how we name the game.

    We (Malaysia) also have this kind of traditional game. Call as 'batu seremban'..the rules are same but usually we played by making our own 'batu seremban'..sewing cloth filled with beans

    We have similar game in Kazakhstan. It is called "bes tas" - 5 stones. But we have 13 rounds. At the end if you catch 5 stones it is 50 points. And you play that game until someone gets 100 points
