  • This is a Kifu-Spread of a go game between Minoru Kitani and Seigen Go.
    Go Seigen and his best friend Kitani Minoru revolutionized Go in the 1930s by pioneering the radical "Shin Fuseki" together. Their daring new fuseki theories upended tradition with provocative openings.
    Despite their contrasting legacies, with Kitani as a master teacher and Go as an innovator, the two shared a bond. When Go faced controversies and nationalism in Japan, Kitani supported him.
    While Kitani nurtured individual talents through teaching, Go Seigen's groundbreaking innovations fundamentally transformed modern Go globally. Together, the two friends and rivals left enduring marks on Go's future.

    The best way to improve Go Instinct is to spread kifus by yourself on a real Goban, but we are all kind of lazy. So, at Simple Baduk, we do it for you! Just by watching us spreading this kifu on the board, you will be able to improve your "Go Sense" or "Go Instinct".
    After you watch a handful of Kifu-Spread videos, you will start to notice your Go Instinct has improved and want to play certain moves that you would never have thought of before that day.
    Even if you are not too familiar with the Go game, you can still learn how to play Go by watching Kifu-spread videos. You will be able to start to see the rules of the Go game, and you will be able to play Go by copying the masters’ moves in your own games.

    White's play is so beautiful in the first half. Look at how light everything is.

    You didn't give the exact date of the game, so I may be wrong but ;
    Maybe if go seigen didn't have "that" road accident, we would remember more Legendary moves that he would have made, and he could have won even this game.
    In any case that was too complicated for my monkey-like brain anyway, lots of fascinating variations and great explanations on your part.
    Unrelated PS :
    I'm still waiting!!!

      I thought Go Seigen had a too smooth game for him that he let his guard down at the end thinking he won hahaha. Much respect for Go Seigen though!

      Go's accident was in 1961, and this game was played in 1935 👍

    If even Go Seigen cannot rightly judge how to make his group survive, how can an amateur-player ever? Makes me wonder, wether it makes sense to play at all at my level.

      Which also shows how Kitani never gave up and fought until the very end even though the game seemed almost impossible to win. So much respect for both players!!!
