Cool vedio. The area your in is Malhuer City which is in Eastern Oregon malhuer county. The cemetary is the Malheur City cemetary which is still well kept up to this day. That area used to be an mining town in around 1853 up to the early 1860s until the gold ran out. Then the town became a ghost town and in 1957 there was a big range fire that burned the town to the ground. The only structure standing is that arch way structure that you saw there. The population of the city was about 10,000 people. Look up the history of Malhuer City and you'll find some very cool information about the ditch that was dug to the area so they could mind the gold. Other than that great vedio.
Cool stuff! That rosette, they'd tear a 4" strip of cloth or even use a batch of string. They'd push it thru the hole, use a stick under it to hold it in place, then use the whole strip they made with those, into a belt, or horse tack, or shoulder strap (for holding a papoose). That stone arch looked like it may have been a mission. Come to think, might be neat places to go MD... all the spots old missions used to be. Probably find some good historical info in library history books.
In my experience in just haunting old homesteads, I've come to believe that left to themselves for numerous years, all roses will turn yellow. It would be hard to believe that they are there because every pioneer woman in the Oregon Territory was partial to yellow roses.
I'm not sure about these particular roses, but many rose hybrids are grafted onto a stronger, Hardy, wild Rose root system. Over time without care and pruning, the wild rose can take over.
Hey Ryan, I need to work on making one of Monte's hunts this year, you guys did great! That US sword belt plate is awesome! Hey I sent you a PM about a NV site, if you have a chance to a look. HH, Brian
nice digging man! cool to see great mid century relics coming ot of the west cost. a holed seated in Oregon is to cool! fantastic buckles, buttons and relics! enjoyed the video. a sub and like heading your way keep up the good work. best of luck to you cheers Nathan
Hey Ryan that arched piece of metal you thought might be a Trigger Guard ? or a Drawer Pull ?? that is actually one side of the Jaws from a small animal Trap, and the flowery designed scalloped round piece with the whole in the center of it, is a Concho that adorned many western Saddles, i have found around 10 or 12 of them that were solid Silver. My family is, and are some of the first white folks to settle and ranch East of the Cascades in the Ashwood area, Donnybrook Ranches over 160 yrs we have been here now. I too am an avid explorer and metal detecting Nut ( CTX 3030 ) still trying to figure out how to set and run this 3030. Love your MD Videos keep on scratching the ground, the treasures never end and it will scratch you back from time to time. Dale Thornton.
That arch is an icon here. I'm from the nearest town around. Great to look for this stuff, but don't disturb the biggest remaining structure of the ghost town Malheur City. People I know's grandparents and ancestors are buried a couple hundred yards from that arch!
That was a very enjoyable explore.

There is a water spring in the back rear right corner of the cemetery...it’s very snakey in that area

Dale Thornton.
I founf an old watch fob that's dated 1923. It's a Buster Brown with his little dog "Tige" who my Dad was named after.
Trigger guard thing looks like a cheep sturip
The ornate metal probably came from a lantern/lamp. the (trigger guard) was a jaw from a animal trap
is that a cane ? the pole with the round thing on it. its gotta be. you aint using it for anything.
is it difficult to get permission from the landowner to dig? Looks like fun
any idea why the 4 children sadly passed within days of each other?
Seemingly Yellow Fever
What towns did you visit?
That was not a door handle it was part of a trap.
that is a leg hold trap jaw
Detect the arch real well. might find a can or box in the arch
