It is difficult to get that thing stuck, even with your street tires. I think that this zip tie trick is really for a civic that is stuck in a driveway. Your outback is looking awesome though!
Awwwww man I missed your humor!!!! I’ve heard rope works in a pinch as well. One reminder if you used these or something like it be mindful where valve stem is located
I have used this on my motorcycle n sidecar. It works! Can I suggest a little slack and not so tight against the tyre that's the secret. Easy to carry!
Good idea though. Maybe nylon straps or something similar would work. Even try strapping twigs under the strap. Wouldn't last long but if you're stuck and might freeze to death - try anything I guess. Cheers.
I think anything is worth trying if the alternative is freezing to death. I really liked the idea of zip ties since they're so cheap and abundant. But unfortunately it doesn't look like it will work. Even the commercial product I briefly showed doesn't seem to have great reviews.
With a manual trans I would bring the revs up to around 5000RPM and let go of the clutch the feather the throttle at high RPM breaking loose all 4 , ok maybe 2 or 3 tires up that hill LoL.
I put a set if Yokohama GO15'S on my 2018 outback. It's an A/T with the 3 peak rating. There are a few good A/Ts with the 3 peak rating out there now. Good luck.
I have a 2017 outback. Would you recommend a lift and bigger tires? I don't do serious off reading just fire roads. I think I could probably just get away with more aggressive tires on the stock rims. The wet heavy snow we get seems to give me more issues than any "off roading" I've done
Winter tires, trust me in this one, get a set of cheap steel wheels and put a set of good winter tires on them. Cost will be offset by the longer life of your summer tires.
Those zip ties will do next to nothing. I drive in the mountain's. Those will boy help. Maybe..just maybe in your drive way lol. The Subaru has excellent awd system which is why you drove off. Nothing to do with zip ties lol
Haha! What brand / model of tires Brucy? (I see Michelin X-ice) Had them on a Subaru Legacy Sport 2011. Was ok, but couldn't brake in time and totaled the car because of a rig that jackknifed on highway. I use Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 Studded. None studded R3 are also great. You can watch this if you havent already (my Crosstrek with them Nokians!) czcams.com/video/902oV1rCscU/video.html Also, a manual (with Nokian R3) vs my crosstrek video I made.
Michelin X Ice 3. They're a really quiet tire with good mpg and ice grip. Not as good in deep snow. I would probably get something more aggressive if I replace them.
@@bruceyyyyy Here, in my part of Canada, we have snow from November until May. Enjoying them a lot. Not as engaging compared to x-ice on cleared roads.
I bet it didnt wurk because your STUPID CVT was CUTTING PWOER TO PROTEC TITSELF FROM BRAKING
lol
Like the new front bumper. I found cut up milk crates linked with heavy duty zip ties works great. Sort of a poor mans Maxtrax
We got alot of ice on top of snow up here in Ohio
Had to push a Ford out of our driveway. The Subaru Outback drove through the shit!!

That's good info! I wish this would have worked better than it did. Ha

1:30 I started to chuckle, too

In Colorado, we put WINTER tires on our cars. Worx great on Subarus!
I have Winter tires on here. Michelin X Ice 3.
@@bruceyyyyy Studs?
Studless Ice and Snow
Great video guys, keep going, we need more videos like that one, OURS SUBARUS tested in the real life.
Any observations from the Fluid Film application and approach since way back when?
This video is coming! But I wanted to borrow a lift for a better view.
Spoiler alert: it works amazing.

I haven't had good luck with ATs with the 3 peak rating. Both the AT3 and the AT Trail had them and neither really impressed me.

I would recommend tires and skid plates and go from there.
Nice intro audio 😏
One of our techie fanboys gave us this awesome mic . . . . ;)
Good try. Interesting.
Is this the first off road video with the new nose job?
Kinda sorta. COVID has ruined a lot of plans over the last year. But I had a mini adventure at the end of the build series.
She awsome yanking he's chain😆

I'm running winter tires in this video.
I have not seen so bad tires like yours. I think that every Subaru with good tires easily go around this snowy road. Am I wrong?
They're winter tires and this is a pretty rough spot of a power line access road.
Hope he didn't cable tie the brake line to the tire!
makes a difference for ordinary road tires, I guess. so, no, it wont make a difference on a properly equipped subaru.
😂

We know it’s fake news because “l got *stuck* in my Subaru”.
Well, that didn't work... LOL!
There's a reason chains are made out of metal... 😋😂🤣
Wont work in deep slushy crap. On ice perhaps.
Put on goddam winter tires. Holy shit!
If you look closely you can see . . .
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
