      NI is a scam. They randomly take peoples money and won't activate the products so you can use them. I have a brand new Maschine 3 that I paid $700, and its a brick. Never used it 1 time. Guitar Center won't take them back, and there's no contact information listed for N!.

      I'm still using the original S4, but my DJ laptop can't upgrade to Windows 11 and I'm not planning on buying a new one. I want to migrate to a standalone system before Windows 10 support ends, so the clock is ticking. Right now Denon is looking good, but I think I'll hold out one more generation if I can.

    You left out that the Denon products also do DMX lighting controls via SoundSwitch or Philips hue. The Prime Go'ss are great with Minirg 3's and Subs too if you want to spend a little more and play in the middle of nowhere!

    Nice guide to standalone DJ systems! Going laptop-free definitely has its advantages, like eliminating potential issues with updates and system requirements. I love that these systems provide a simpler setup with fewer wires and a smaller footprint. Plus, having the screen at the center of your workspace keeps you focused on the crowd. One perspective to consider is the familiarity with Rekordbox and CDJ setups, which can be beneficial for DJs aiming to play in clubs. Excited to read more about the hardware options!

    Personally, I'd lean towards the Mixstream Pro for the price alone. The only thing I would change on it would be to drop the on-board speakers in favor of four more cue buttons for each deck and better FX options.

    Pioneer standalone Dj controllers are overvalued OMO, I remember when I started Djing back in the 90s Technics where exactly what Pioneer is today, I sold my pair of SL 1200Mk 2 for 500 US, then I got a Denon 2100f back in the 90s, then move into PC using BPM Studio cause I was working in a Radio Station....after that I stop Djing for some years.... till I started using the cPionnee cdj800, then move to Dj Controllers bought the M audio X Ponent use it for a couple of years, till I got into the Mix Pro's by Numark, I still have a NS6 and love my 4trak also stantons turntable setup, but now a days Im looking to upgrade to a standalone Dj controllers, want to take off the Laptop from the deck, your video is give me an idea of what exactly I'm gonna buy, thanks for posting.

    This is so close to what I've been waiting for. If I could get one strictly for DVS(no built-in controllers) that fits compact between two turntables and still has a screen that would be perfect for me.
    THAT'S what I'm holding out for.

    Hi love the channel. Thank you for all your awesome reviews. Got a question for you. Would you please recommend the best for my live stream radio show with talk over button effect so far the only one I’ve been able to find is the rane four if I can’t find anything else with that voiceover affect its very important, I have a deep voice and I like for my voice to cut through the music that voiceover button is a must on a DJ controller please help any recommendations thank you so much. Keep playing the music and making people smile. That’s what it’s all about.

    I enjoyed this video and some of the things @PassionateDJ pointed out. Since I am a user of Pioneer and Rekorbox, I would choose the RX3 as my stand-alone. One of the things I like about it besides the 10" screen is it has the same size jog wheels as the DDJ 800 which I currently use. As far as the XZ and the RR, I was disappointed that Pioneer didn't make the XZ a full-blown 4 channel stand-alone unit. Yes, it is good if you own turntables or planning to purchase a CDJ but if you can't afford it, what's the point? I feel that the XZ is an overpriced 2 channel pretending to be a 4 channel unit. The other mistake Pioneer made was discontinuing the RX2 yet keeping the RR. WHY!!! The RR is garbage. Pioneer should have discontinued it for no one like,, and it was not worse the price. Denon has come a long way and their hardware/systems are top class. I will not switch due to my preference for Pioneer and Rekorbox. I know some DJs who have and don't regret it. I said you choose the system that works best for you.

    I make music since 15 years and i'm discovering DJ hardware since 2 weeks via youtube. i was never more hyped by something doing it myself than this. Once i was dreaming about an original Fender Stratocaster but now it is a standalone digital or vinyl DJ setup. Its just fascinating to present your favorite songs from nice artists to your crowd.
    Its hard to chose a music genre for my own set (in my imagination). I guess the Pioneer DDJ 400 is ok for the beginning. to bad its not standalone

    • @sezjames2472
      @sezjames2472 Před rokem

      Ddj400 is a good controller as its bus powered and does everything a nexus or ddj1000 does in all honesty the only drawback being slightly smaller jogs and pitch fader. The denon prime go is the only good portable controller currently that's battery powered (makes sense for a all in one controller) but the jogs are too small hopefully more companies innovate. I do prefer to stay rekordbox so I can play clubs easy with a USB aside that there is loads of better tech out there over pioneer it's just pioneer are standardised in clubs so makes sense to be compatible

  • @BlueHawk80
    @BlueHawk80 Před 2 lety +8

    Good comparison. More neutral and unbiased this time, though you still overemphasized the Pioneer EFX quality, also, why didn't you mention the SC5000 when telling about the XDJ-700/1000? Much better for the price. I would go with a RX2 (ebay), or Prime 2/4. The RX3 has the same size and price as the Prime 4, while being far inferior. The "Pioneer clubstandard" shouldn't be any more excuse nowadays.

      The bigger, more expensive standalones are pretty close in layout and feel to separate CDJs/mixer. While not the only way to transition to club-style laptop-free mixing, it’s a good system to keep at home to practice if buying a full club set-up is overkill.

    RX3 isn't just standalone. You can plug in usb and use performance mode on rekordbox (albeit it doesn't work quite as quickly as using a usb stick). So it can be a midi controller as well, making it incredibly versatile. It really feels like the closest unit to club pioneer set up (with a far better screen than XZ).

I was close to picking up the XDJ-XZ, but I couldn't pull the trigger simply because it isn't truly four-channel standalone unless you have a laptop to unlock channel 3/4. Like WTF Pioneer. Seriously. It would have been perfect for the time being. I still have my DDJ-800, and it is doing fine for me, minus only being two-channel.
