- In this beginners woodworking tips video I'll show you how to make a flower planter out of cedar fence pickets for just $15! Making a flower planter is a fun beginners woodworking project. To help you build this cedar planter, I've included a link for woodworking plans below. This DIY cedar planter is a fantastic homemade Christmas gift, Mothers day gift or for any other holiday. I have other woodworking projects on my channel that use cedar fence pickets. Be sure to check them out!
I'll go into detail about how to make a planter and even give some good woodworking tips along the way. You can build these with basic woodworking tools. I'll be using a Ridgid drill, a Bostich brad nailer and a Makita circular saw. I'll also be using my DeWalt table saw, but you could also use a Kreg Rip-Cut instead.
Be sure to head over to my website for all sorts of plans for woodworking projects,, table saw jigs and homemade games.

Love it, Cedar pickets are my go to as well. Super affordable and good for outdoors. 👍
Yes they are!
You saved some time by ripping that angle. I just keep learning something new all the time. Thanks a ton
No problem!
Is the 45 angle for the mitered pieces on top?
@xthaking Yes.
Tape trick, genius
Thanks for the comment!
Fence pickets are today the pallet wood of the last decade 🤣
Ya, it would seem so!
What was used for the finish?
Tung oil.
Wow, very nice!! 👍👍
Are there holes in the bottom for drainage?
Yes. The full video shows it more. I used 8 1/2" holes.
@HowIDoThingsDIY Oh ok, great. I'll look for the full video then, I definitely want to see it.

@@HowIDoThingsDIY Thank you, brother.
You're welcome.
does that blue tape leave blue ink at your outside edge when the glue tries to squeeze out?
No. Any tape stuck to it easily sands off.
Dont use the harbor freight tape! Haha.
😳😳😳gonna lose a finger that way 😳😳😳never let that left hand go past the front of the saw
Ok. Thanks.
@@HowIDoThingsDIY anytime brother,stay safe
@@scottdavis5076 I will. I usually am. It might be that the camera angle that made it look worse that it was. Either way, thanks for pointing it out.
