Ive been working in the trades as a hvac/r technician for the last 8 years, but im tired of it and ready for a new career that isn't as physically tasking as my current and more lucrative. From what i can see working in tech is the way to go. Wish me luck!

I work in HR in Africa we dont have govtech like yall have it but certainly the best decision i have made is to follow symone beez..in general taking perspective of career advice and upskilling and specializing

The “useless” degree might be true for you but you don’t know that persons passion. Nor do you know if the person had a scholarship. Really bad to shame someone after the path they chose

How does one get into govtech?!
I have tried for the last 10 years to move into Gov Tech roles and its been a struggle, it always seems like you have to know someone to migrate into that field.

I didn't know this is what you meant by GovTech. I thought you meant like the government lol. Lockheed in my opinion is a DoD company but this still makes sense. I'mma look into their job listings.
GovTech = Government Technology. Lockheed is a Government Contractor company with tons of IT and Engineering services they provide to the government. I didn't come up with the GovTech term lol GovTech.com

hey @symone ! i always love your content , im currently a cs major in my senior year i just got my security plus certification im looking to get a higher cert now what certs do youthink i should go for what do you think about the CYSA and CISA and GCRC certs are they worth getting?
Tbh he kinda discredits the comptia security cert by saying it only takes 2 weeks. The value of really studying for that is important. The average cat will need more than 2 weeks if they have no prior knowledge

I am a USAF Veteran (returned to University for a career change, I have my BSc degree then MSc in Forensic Accounting). I am building my next career as a Forensic Accountant or similar profession as an Investigator, especially with technology and/or cybercrimes.

You are very UNLIKELY to get a DoD/Govt job WITHOUT a Clearance, and most companies will NOT sponsor your Clearance. I’m a Retired Vet who have been Gov tech for years. 💯💯
False. People get sponsored for clearances everyday you just need to know where to look. I got my clearance at 18 never served. I've helped hundreds get sponsored clearances.
@@symonebeez I agree with Beez I'm a Systems Engineer and I have seen plenty of people get sponsored for a clearance and had to work lowside stuff for a few months til they got it.
That’s not true at all. I work in Government contracting. It’s good to have a certification to get in the door. The contract may require the person to have a certain cert and they will sponsor your clearance. I just reviewed a resume and my company was willing to sponsor someone and pay relocation fee.

IS it worth taking my time to pursue a full ride scholarship bachelors degree in IT field I was offered ? Even though I have my certs already in Google IT. I know it looks good on my resume but is it worth the time that I could invest in something else , I'd love any opinion from anyone in Tech 😩
