    I like the new camera a lot! It definitely has a very crisp image and shows a lot of the world behind you. As long as it won't break your arm while carrying it then I think it would be nice to use. The ambient interim shots between questions were a very nice touch.
    Honestly, if you're able to go out and do things I think you should. It allows the people who are stuck inside a way to live vicariously through you and your videos.
    I'm really happy you made a video and I hope you'll find the motivation and drive to continue making them if you want to.
    #4 is my question! Thank you so much for taking the time to feature and answer it! It's nice to know that it's doable and that knowing Japanese makes it even easier.

    Hi Sam! Danke! LG, Carolin

But as time passess these events will be taken place at a smaller scale and less crowded manner. The severe summer heat usually last for two weeks in Tokyo and the temperature goes down gradually so it will be better next week. Your phone and internet costs are a little expensive, btw?

      It will never be easy and will be almost impossible. If you don’t study enough about career and job getting system of Japan, it will be a suicidal decision in your life. There are a lot of unique systems of job hunting and recruitment in Japan that you cannot know about in English while many wrote about that in Japanese medias from books to web-media.
      Without understanding the systems, it will never ever possible for you to get a proper career in Japan.
      You have to catch up with the rulebooks of games of life in Japan which Japanese people have in their brain

  • @EnigmaDave
    @EnigmaDave Před 3 lety +4

    Your comments about the "long-term" stay vs. "short-term" stay people are so true (14:23). Even as a viewer, it's difficult to watch people leave Japan, lose contact with their friends there, and often post less often. The tight-knit community within Japan let's us see you all doing things together, and see that these friendships are genuine - Unlike the typical collaborations seen outside the "gaigen bubble". I wish more vloggers understood that just because you have to leave Japan, it doesn't mean you suddenly become uninteresting, less funny or insightful. I feel some view their home country as boring compared to Japan. The truth is that we're subscribed to *you*, not your location.

    • @lynda.grace.14
      @lynda.grace.14 Před 3 lety +1

      So true. A travel vlogger I follow had to return to his home city and after quarantine began to showcase all sorts of weird and wonderful sites that are completely off the tourist track. When restrictions began to lift he travelled locally to explore unique Airbnb options like tug boats, tree houses and railway cars that normally don't get a lot of attention.
      Though I'm not suggesting that it's Sam's ouvre, there's one person with more viewers than makes sense, who uploads episode after episode of herself (without ever showing her face or speaking, only subtitles)as she makes toast, eats lunch, cooks soup, makes the bed, vacuums the floor, changes the bedding, goes out and about. People watch it because it's Japan. Comments say it's relaxing. Who knows why they choose it?
      I think the key is in the title of the platform. It's "you do you" when it comes to CZcams. People who resonate with you will stay.

      MBA is useless in Japan and many of Japanese businessmen in higher position hate it and think that MBA is one of the wrost parts of worthless american style of business.

      @@ForUploadin I got the degree in the US, thus focused on western business, it will likely help me secure a job as a consultant for Japanese businesses looking to be successful in foreign markets. Or at least the Japanese folks I've spoken with have said this is the case. I also have the skills to be very successful in marketing. The degree has become increasingly valued by Japanese businesses since the financial crisis. So can't say I agree, but an opinion is an opinion!

    • @ForUploadin
      @ForUploadin Před 3 lety

      @@Lifeisnow1234 I wouldn’t argue with you and what you said are true indeed.
      But What you heard from them are Merely true in a very minor part of business scene in Japan which are influenced by foreign ideas and foreign people.
      As a matter of fact, Japanese people that you talked with are obviously unusual.
      You are lacking of research about Japanese business scenes and markets and all your researches are coming from what are available in English and far from the reality.
      First of all, in Japan, generally speaking , companies don’t care about what kind of degree you got other than doctor.
      I have a degree of art and literature but now I am working as an engineer partly in a life ware factory.
      I am doing all of those things by myself at the same time, sales , design, CAD drawing, machines involved engineering, intellectual property management, dealing with FDA shipping abroad , Public relations like advertising or arranging booths in international exhibitions accounting and almost everything and every thing.
      None of them has anything to do with my degree.
      I learnt all of those things by myself from books I bought after being employed by the company.
      This is quite normal.
      For example one of my friends , who god a degree of religion study of buddhism is now working as an accountant in a plastic material engineering company.
      Another friend who got the degree of infancy educations, is now working as a software-engineer in an IT company.
      This is very very basic and general characteristic of Japanese business career scene. If you don’t know about this, you obviously lack of research..

    • @ForUploadin
      @ForUploadin Před 3 lety

      I don’t mean that Japanese hate American business but in reality, Japanese business people will respect Donald Trump or Cornel Sanders who don’t have MBA and made it in business in wild way because they are considered to know the wild reality of business other hand, they make big fan of ‘ case studies’ you learnt in business schools.
      For instance,
      Do you know about the vice CEO of Toyota who is also a vice president of Japan omni management association?
      He just graduated from a high school and didn’t go to any college or any university.
      In other countries somebody like him will end up in being a labour in factory lines but in Japan , without any degree, if you make efforts, it is possible to be at the highest position in such a global company.
      Even after becoming a vice president, at least once a week he forced himself to work as a blue collar labour in TOYOTA factory to keep knowing the reality.
      That’s is considered worthy in Japanese business scenes and that’s why MBA is useless.

    The heat is one thing but the humidity will turn a short walk into an adventure 😅 I recommend visitors travel between about the second week of October through cherry blossom season. People planning on living there year round better have plenty of hats, sunscreen and water. I'd rather deal with a bit of rain than heat stroke.
    The directional audio seemed okay, I wonder if a lavalier mic might be better when there is so much ambient sounds. On the question of whether a camera is worth the weight vs. a phone or action cam on a gimbel, might come down to lighting conditions and audio options. One solution is to have multiple setups. 🙂 Keep trying different ideas and you'll find out what works for you.
