    8 innings by a starting pitcher. This was like less than 20 years ago. In a Game 5 today, Wood would have been pulled when the lineup rolled around for a 3rd time.

    Who knew that it would take us 13 more years to get those final 3 outs. I have lived and breathed the Cubs for almost 45 years. GO CUBS GO!!!

      And this is AFTER his arm blew out...his stuff was 2x as good this. I saw him pitch at Wrigley - he threw a 2 hitter I believe - the ball was a blurr and the hitters were taking hilarious swings.

    Wood and Prior were brutal. Wood kinda looks like Leo DiCap lol

      their own mechanics ruined them. the Cubs didn't. and some of it was bad luck.

      You mean too bad CRUSTY ruined them right? And actually Prior wasn't anyone's fault....he had a fluke injury. Wood's career was ruined by Crusty

      not a fan of dusty's managing, he basically gave away the 2002 ws and cost bonds his only realistic shot at a ring, but kerry wood had tommy john surgery years before dusty got to chicago, his mechanics were just killer on his arm

  • @robloxvids2233
    @robloxvids2233 Před 3 lety +4

    Dusty Baker destroyed him and Mark Prior. That is Dusty Baker's legacy. And letting his toddler run onto the field in the middle of a game and almost dying. And not winning a title with the literal GOAT baseball player, Bonds.

    If I recall Wood also knocked in an RBI in that game AND in game 1 of the same series. He damn near single handedly helped the Cubs win their first playoff series in 95 years.

    Jeez Lousia. I grew up a baseball nutcase, only Cubs fan in my entire Chicagoan lineage (literally in the world now that I think of it. My heritage and line dwindled down to down my father and mother's parents post war [with my mom being an only child] and out, and since all of my immediate elder relatives are Sox fans and their children grew up fans of their respective markets their parents settled, I'm the lone wolf) to that point simply based on they were who I connected with. The roster. The coaches. The fanbase. The culture. Cubbie blue in a sea of black ink. Only in time can I appreciate truly how nasty Kerry was. When he was groovin, every pitch was moving like a military family.
