I mean, to put it simply, It came about when Eccelstone bought the TV rights and wanted to create a brand for top-class Grand Prix racing, and that's where F1 was born. Seems like somebody knew the power of broadcasting media.
They just needed a cool name.
When I was a kid I thought Formula 1 was a title sponsor of the series. I thought it was an oil brand title sponsor. Like Mobil 1.
Worth mentioning that F1 regulations were made in 1946, it was only the world championship that began in 1950

indycar is for people who couldn't get into f1 lol
@@duckeydude67 IndyCar is for people who like close racing, passing, and having more than 2 teams with a shot at winning. I love F1, but it's weaknesses are very evident.
NASCAR on road course are actually decent, it's just like another saloon/touring car race series, on oval though, different
@@claytondavis9325 Well F1 is a constructors series and Indy is a spec series so it’d make sense that there’s going to be leading teams
