    Very useful Phil, thanks. I have a bass guitar (I’m also a guitar player), but bass guitar is notoriously difficult to record and get a good sound, and I usually get a bit bogged down with it. This may be a better option.

    • @PhilPendlebury
      @PhilPendlebury  Před 4 lety

      Thanks. I played the guitar in various ways. One of my techniques is to "slap" the guitar, (especially when playing live). But in this demo I just played it as you heard it and then changed the articulations to Slaps in the EZbass editor.
      The key is to keep the playing clean and tight. The capture will work best if you don't use any smoothing or distortion. Then do some editing afterwards. It is never going to be 100% perfect until you do a bit of editing.

    How does the audio to midi conversion compare to Cubase Variaudio? Theoretically this could be done within Cubase and use the Midi to drive ezbass or any other midi bass?

    • @PhilPendlebury
      @PhilPendlebury  Před 4 lety +1

      Good point. The detection of notes by Vari Audio for this purpose is more suited to other styles. In my tests I found that EZbass is more accurate reading guitar / bass. Plus the actual tweaking you can do within the application. Vari Audio does give you a starting point though and tbh that is all I would use EZb's detection for too. I much prefer to program directly into MIDI. Maybe another video due...

    • @PhilPendlebury
      @PhilPendlebury  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi and thanks for watching. The main outputs from EZb are stereo, you will hear this on chorus effects etc. But if you are recording real bass then yes of course mono is fine, (unless you are using a Rickenbacker with dual outputs). Then place EZb on a stereo track. But if you don't need any of the stereo features it is not vital, whatever works for you really. :-)

      Hi James. Thanks for the comment.
      tbh I am finding that I work exclusively in the DAW (Cubase) now. As all the ezBass articulations can be done with Key Switches and Controllers. So I am basically using ez for the sounds only now and controlling "how" it sounds with keys and controllers.
      I have made a bunch of my own grooves though which are useful to get going quick. Just drag them on to the MIDI track.

    • @PhilPendlebury
      @PhilPendlebury  Před 3 lety

      @@Celticsaint777 It's not what's advertised for sure. It's not a bad midi instrument. I do think it's a bit complicated and wish it interacted with the DAW differently. It seems over designed in my view. I'm glad some people are able to use all its functions. I can't. I do pretty simple stuff anyway so it's just a quick way to get the bass laid in so I can re record with a real bass later.
