    • @HauntingSpectre
      @HauntingSpectre Před 4 měsíci

@@MogulMonk1 It's really not. It's based off a single study, which is questionable at best.
There are plenty of people who function with 0% impairment with 6 hours of sleep or less. Your level of sleep isn't determined by time. It's by the quality of REM sleep.
Which happens in intervals of 90 minutes. Light sleep > REM > Light > REM > LIght and so forth.
If you have high quality REM, due to health, lack of intrusions, comfort, etc, you get better over all sleep. Waking up, or being disturbed during the "Light" sleep phase, causes virtually no issue with sleep quality.
This is why snoozing an alarm, often does nothing. You were either in light sleep, and are unaffected, or you were in REM sleep, and now your brain is essentially mid re-boot and you feel groggier.
This is why people like myself, can sleep 4-6 hours and be fine, but others can oversleep, 10-12 hours and actually feel worse.
It also directly relates to one physiology and vastly differs from person to person.

The study he cites says 1\200 people. Which is 0.5%. He then intentionally leaves that part out and broadly applies it to the entire population. When both pool size and ethnic diversity are marginally small. Which is important because different cultures/regions have exceptionally varying physiology based on life style and culture. Which includes sleep patterns.
1/200 is quite common. For frame of reference out of the Entire global population, 40 million people would have this capability. Which is the entire population of Canada, or Ukraine, or Poland.
Or the Collective population of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Denmark, and The Netherlands combined.
Or 8.5% of the total U.S population.
Theres dozens of studies that disprove this man, and show sleep requirements are based entirely on REM sleep quality, not quantity.
Thats why you can oversleep 12-16 hours and feel like dogshit rather than like a god.

I've always felt my best at 8 hours. When i was in elementary school I waS always tired cuz mom worked 3rd shift so I stayed up late as I wanted. Didn't want to be tired so started to go to bed at 10pm every night and wake at 6am feeling amazing

Same, 8 hours has always been optimal for me as well but also a key thing to consider is the time. I've always noticed after a long and busy day and sleeping at like 2am even 9 hours of sleep still doesn't feel the same as like 8 hours but earlier.

Today your activity levels are low, you eat less. Tomorrow if your activity is very high, you eat more. It’s the same with sleep. The moment the body is well rested it will get up, be it 3 A.M. or 8 A.M. Once it feels sufficiently rested, it must come awake.

5 hours of undisturbed sleep leaves the body completely refreshed I've done it for almost 50 years I'm 74 I'm still sharp as a tack and clear as a bell and I'm in better shape than most guys half my age the reason for it because I never let alcohol drugs or medication control my life influence or a d d i c t me i n anyway and alcohol and drugs will tear your sleep and your whole body apart which is why I have abstained never been drunk in my life never use hard drugs but I smoke tobacco and marijuana everyday for 50 years now a heart attack or lung cancer play very well kill me but at the age of 74 I'm ahead of the rest of the pack most guys I know are dead dying or in prison and never made it to my age or they're slowly dying from being alcoholics or drug addicts

It's cause he's full of shit and using a single study and intentionally misleading by fucking the numbers.
The study shows 1/200. 0.5%. He's then making it 0.5% of 8,019,876,189 , or whatever our current population is. Not 1/200.
So That number divided by 200 is 40 Million and Change. Which is equal to the Entire population of Canada, Or Poland, or Ukraine, individually.
Or Finland, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Denmark and Hollands entire combined populations.
      1/200 is actually exceptionally common.
