For about four months straight I’d say I slept around 6 hours some nights getting little more but that wasn’t very often. That being said I was going through depression, had extremely high anxiety, was on sleep medication(that obviously didn’t work), and didn’t have friends due to extracting myself completely from social gatherings.
Sleeping 9-10 hour of sleep is way worse for your heart and if you have a good diet and drink black coffee you can operate fine with 5-6 hours of sleep
From my early childhood until I was approximately 17 to 18 years old, I rarely ate processed food and slept 4 to 5 hours. I changed my eating to fast food, but my sleeping hours remained the same In my twenties, I had a strong memory and was the best student in mathematics in high school. Now I am 31 and I cannot solve moderately complex mathematical problems, and sometimes I even forget the password for my phone or my bank account. Whether the reason is due to the quality of food or lack of sleep, who knows

Honestly, used to working my ass off as much as possible for years and then made an effort to get a full 8 hrs everynight and the difference is staggering. The quality of wake time is much better, appetite and digestive regularity, quality of workouts and overall physical shape have all improved substantially. I know this sounds like common sense but so many people don't do it and will argue that you don't need it.
Thats exactly what I've been saying for years yhe people who don't sleep 8 hours a night are just so used to feeling like shit they've forgotten what it was like to be normal

I sleep around 5-6 hours my whole life, and I wake up every day to work without any alarm clocks at 5:10 in the morning. I only tend to sleep longer when I am sick, that happens maybe once every few years. Every time I wake up, I am fully ready. And it's been like this since I can remeber.
I did it for years and now it doesn't matter how much I sleep I'm always exhausted. I can sleep for 24 hours if I'm undisturbed. I forgot to set an alarm a few weeks ago, missed work, and woke up a few minutes before I should have been at work the next day.

I know a restless maths student at the university of cambridge, who can get no more than 5 hours sleep a night because his thirst for knowledge and learning is so strong. The moment he wakes, he reads. Returns from a long day of studying, cooks dinner as quick as he can, and dives straight into a book. Reads three or four a week. Never stops. Although he will eventually burn out, every hour is spent in utter rapture. He will work on cancer when he leaves university, and I wouldnt be surprised if he goes on to make giant discoveries. All that to say, some people are truly, built differently. Tesla also famously slept about 4 hours a night and lived to 86

Same, 8 hours has always been optimal for me as well but also a key thing to consider is the time. I've always noticed after a long and busy day and sleeping at like 2am even 9 hours of sleep still doesn't feel the same as like 8 hours but earlier.
Today your activity levels are low, you eat less. Tomorrow if your activity is very high, you eat more. It’s the same with sleep. The moment the body is well rested it will get up, be it 3 A.M. or 8 A.M. Once it feels sufficiently rested, it must come awake.
5 hours of undisturbed sleep leaves the body completely refreshed I've done it for almost 50 years I'm 74 I'm still sharp as a tack and clear as a bell and I'm in better shape than most guys half my age the reason for it because I never let alcohol drugs or medication control my life influence or a d d i c t me i n anyway and alcohol and drugs will tear your sleep and your whole body apart which is why I have abstained never been drunk in my life never use hard drugs but I smoke tobacco and marijuana everyday for 50 years now a heart attack or lung cancer play very well kill me but at the age of 74 I'm ahead of the rest of the pack most guys I know are dead dying or in prison and never made it to my age or they're slowly dying from being alcoholics or drug addicts
