- I fitted the Hitchcock's Adjustable Levers due to my hands being small, and found the reach to the clutch becoming painful during long rides. It doesn't help having arthritis in my hands too.
I also talk about the speedo issue, and how I fixed it, by following the advice of other Classic 350 owners here on CZcams.
Part two will be the ride home, a bit spirited at times 😎

I love the amount of accessories available for Enfields.
Makes individualising them easy.
Eg on my Red and Chrome 350 ( Ethel).
Lost the rear seat & replaced it with a chrome long rack .
Lost the rear foot rests as not needed.
Lost the headlight surround for a Hitchcock one peice replacement mainly as the finish on the peak is really poor .
Lost the fork reflectors.
Changed out the side casing decals for more muted ones
Fitted octagonal crash bar.
Hiding the rear plastic fluid reservoir with a stainless cover.
Will fit black canvas panniers for touring.
Additional spray waterproofing treatment which for me is essential on canvas panniers however much or little you pay.
Agree, the list is almost endless, whilst still retaining the beautiful classic looks. One thing that makes me cringe though, is when owners hide the chrome downpipe with exhaust wrap…..😢 Cheers

I fitted a pair of black adjustable levers from Hitchcock's to my grey Hunter. Top quality, look good and most importantly they are so comfortable. Highly recommended 👍
Thanks Paul. I have just returned from a 145 mile ride, which involved a hell of a lot of gear changes, and my hands are absolutely fine, no pain whatsoever. So I 100% agree 👌
I do like the colour scheme on your bike, Ian. For me, that and the Halcyon Blue are the nicest. The Red/Chrome looks great, but maybe too much polishing for me. Re the chap legs out on the Triumph Scrambler, perhaps he was trying to convince himself he had big balls, instead of a small brain.
😂 you could be right 😂. As for the colour scheme, I agree, as nice as the chrome is, it would be a pain to keep looking good, especially riding in winter. I think the solid colours look really classy without looking brash and blingy. 😎 cheers

Hi Ian, my signals 350 just over 800 miles hasn’t succumbed to that Speedo fault yet, I’ve seen on some posts some fit a sticker over the speedo needle pivot point, thinking it’s the heat from the sun that causes the fault but this has happened to bikes in the cooler months too, anyway keep these video is coming 👍🏻 Adrian.
Yes, seen those, but I wouldn’t want to go putting a sticker on my speedo 😳, like you say though, it happens to others in cooler temps anyway. Not too hard to reset, just an inconvenience 🙄😂 cheers

I too had a speedo moment 2 weeks ago on a warm day, and it was nice sitting at 80mph! Until I switched off and it read 20mph!, weird as I previously degreased the connector a month ago and it had preformed faultless since and clicked up
600 miles since going up to Skye for weekend,

Chiming in on the speedo issue my local dealer here in Southern California had been informed from RE that it was a temperature issue. I can confirm something of the sort as it is just heating up here in Cali and I find that on cooler, overcast days I have no issues at all but if it is a hot day it gets all wonky. Cools back down and the problems go away. I have the new speedo sitting over there but have an issue with vehicles without original Odometers. I hope the dealer certifies the mileage when he changes it out. BTW I am about 2000 miles on the clock. Cheers
Fully understand about the Speedo reading, it puts me off too. You would have thought, that as the speedo’s are electrical, the dealer could plug something in to put the original mileage, on new speedo ! I am sure you would get a certificate (or at the least headed receipt) with original mileage when the replacement was fitted. The trouble is, that obviously this system will be open to abuse, with some owners selling their bikes as “low mileage” examples, and not declaring the original mileage. 🙄. If it is heat related as many suggest, then it won’t be a constant problem here in the uk, but for yourself, it will be a pain in the backside 😢. It was also rumoured, that it was just a batch of early speedo’s which suffered with this problem, it would be interesting to know if owners who have only recently bought their 350’s, are having the same issue. @@ianhughesroyalenfield 🤔 I bought mine in October '22 but I don't think we got them here in the States maybe late Spring. I should check my Vin # as to production date. My dealer SoCal Motorcycles in Brea, CA was the #1 dealer in the US selling 300 bikes total across all models so maybe they had a good turnover of their stock. When I got mine, a Chrome-Bronze, they only had that and a Halcyon Gray.
@@GrampsD63 the trouble is, we don’t know how many were in the “batch”, or even if the stock was rotated when replenished at the factory (this I doubt), new stock would probably have just been put on top of older stock. At least that was normal practice on non perishable items in the Bentley Motor Car factory parts warehouse where I worked.

Another great ride Ian. Glad you sorted the speedo issue. I think I read somewhere on the Facebook page that RE have a new supplier for the speedo units and so hopefully they will clear the backlog fairly soon. Keep up the great work Ian👍
Unfortunately Mark, this fix was only temporary, hence the bicycle speedo in newer vids. I want one of those replacements from the new supplier, as opposed to a like for like jobby, which will probably fail again. Silver fox has had two fail in him so far 😢
That’s not great is it Ian. RE need to get this resolved quickly as it may put off potential buyers (not me) At least your bicycle speedo is doing the job👍

I also have same problem with speedo. I bought the bike in January and it first showed up once the warm weather arrived a few weeks ago. Bike is booked in for replacement under warranty next week - it was only a couple of weeks wait for the part so maybe RE parts/accessories new set up is coming together at last!

Agreed, a bit too modern looking though, but hey ho.
Riding in 30+degC weather is the norm for me, so I understand how uncomfortable it can be. I have a (green) 100% mesh jacket for the really hot days, a half mesh jacket for the usual hot waether and a normal jacket for the few weeks of cooler weather that we can get at the end of the year. Even so, I took a break from riding in Bangkok for a couple of months because sitting at traffic lights with a helmet on at close to 40 degC is challenging. I enjoyed this spin along the lanes......
I am not used to riding in hot weather, it’s usually chilly, even in summer 😂

Hi Ian. I have been thinking of changing the levers on my Meteor. It certainly looks more comfortable to operate. I have not been far on mine for 8 weeks now, mainly due to having my left knee replaced due to arthritis.
michael burgess I sincerely sympathise, sometimes the pain is excruciating, but no doubt my pain isn’t as bad as yours. My wife had her knee replaced, so understand what you are going through. With the levers being closer to my fingers, the stretching has been eliminated, plus no doubt due to the way the lever is angled, they take less pressure to pull in, if that makes sense. Black ones would look cool on the Meteor too. 😉. Hope this helps.
Hi Ian, I've recently cleaned my Speedo connectors with electrical connector cleaning spray, as I've seen on a couple of CZcams videos where this fixed the problem for them.
I was just wondering, did it fix your speedo problem?
Unfortunately not. It returned next time the weather was hot and sunny. I am still waiting for a replacement, although I could have had a “like for like” speedo, I opted to wait for the new one with the backing plate made from a different plastic. Meanwhile, when the weather is very hot, I use a Cycplus bicycle gps speedo mounted on my handlebars. The rest of the year it works fine.

3 lads knee out round corner were they,I know the type passed me once & I was expecting to see one of them crashed when I went past further up the road but luckily there wasn't.

Ooo, no. I think the paint would wear off in no time at all. Hitchcock’s do them in black too, maybe they would look less modern. I am not keen on anything with leather wrap, look far too “hipster” ish for my liking 😉😂 cheers

No, I am actually on the North Lancashire/ Cumbria border now, but don’t have any RE dealers close by. I used to live in the Nantwich/Crewe area, so have known Roger at Crewe Motorcycle Centre for many years. I coincide demo rides from him, and other dealers around and about there (also The Potteries), with visiting family.

Like the Speedo fogging up on Interceptor/Gt.Apparently you pull the stickers underneath off to help moisture escape.
Cheers RR. Although I occasionally get misting on the Interceptor, it was never enough to cause concern. The dodgy speedo on the Classic 350 is another level though. Not knowing the actual speed could land us in a whole heap of trouble, through speeding tickets/fines.

Hi Ian and thanks for another interesting video. My bike covered about 2,300 miles before I had the speedo problem. I did the usual fix of disconnecting the switch on the back of the speedo and it seemed fine for the first couple of rides but now goes wrong virtually every time I ride it and I find myself doing `the fix` all the time. I was doing over 100mph in Taunton town centre the other day and 85mph, whilst stationary at a red light! Have now got a new speedo on order but I am wondering if the new one will be any different. Has anybody reading this, had a new speedo and, if so, is it okay?

I had the speedo issue and was changed 18/8/22 @ 1,180 miles. I have since done 1,300 trouble free miles, even sat in full sun last Friday outside my Health Club for over two hours and still okay ……….. hope that will not be the kisss of death 😂😂😂
