Never accepted that efren is better than him. Not by much at their peak, parica was one hell of a player himself, but efren was better with more championships and accolades. And efren has the charisma that's why parica was always envious.
In the late 70's in the Philippines, when Parica plays, there's about a hundred people gathered around the table to watch and gamble. People aren't allowed to enter the pool hall if they dont have money.

bata & amang..two great players, two different legacy..; one is humble in success & defeats, the other gives a ton of excuses; one is respected and acknowledge by other great players, the other is not even mention in conversations; one is willing to share his knowledge of the game, the other just don't seems to care; one is the goat, the other will always be bitter & sad because he doesn't know that it's not just about beating your opponent in any sport..it's how you handle yourself and what you offer to the fans..we don't care if amang beat bata a ton of times., bata revolutionize the game, made it exciting, inspired new generation of players..what did amang do?..( beat bata..)

I have been playing for over 40 years and I see professional games on youtube with rules that are odd to me. Take it easy on the commentators. They are not professionals. They are doing this for the internet because they love the game. Appreciate what they are doing.

around 4:10, Efren shot the 2 ball to the side and missed, and the commentator said Jose can make him shoot again. This is wrong. You can only make your opponent shoot again if he unintentionally pockets a ball that he didn't call.

The players are some of the best, ever. The commentators, however, are some of the worst. I turned off the sound, because they added nothing to the video. Who needs their comments?

Truman sounded like he knew nothing about pool. In the first 2 minutes of the game, he said Jose can't shoot at the #1 ball (without masse'ing around the #10 ball (the #10 ball was NOWHERE in the way of that shot). A couple shots later, Truman said Jose could make Efren shoot again (after missing the #2 ball in the side pocket. HUH? Efren called the shot, the 2 ball bounced off the cushion (making it a legal shot). No OTHER ball went in a pocket. So, how could Jose make Efren shoot again? Unless the rules stated that if you didn't pocket the intended ball, the incoming player can make you shoot again. And, that's not in the rules -during this tournament, or, any other tournament I've ever heard of. Truman needs to see a optometrist, have his vision checked, then, read the rule book.
Everyone knows how good Efren is, but at the same time I've never seen anyone as lucky as he is either he gets every roll and every lucky break the table has to offer this plus his skill and he's all but unbeatable.

efren reyes gains experience and intelligence throughout the years but i think he's not as sharp as he was last 10 or 15 years ago..on whether he's the greatest player ever been to play pool is a debate,but i like him the most because he amazes me every time he plays, he deserves his title as "MAGICIAN"

this commentator has never played bar box pool ,You can tell ,he said Ronnie Alcano was playing on the table like it was a bar box, meaning it was easy play! I've been playing for more than 50yrs. and the bar box is harder to play on because you have half the playing surface with the same amount of balls, hence you have to be a real surgeon and have great speed control, more so then you do on a 9 ft.table

Mr. Jose Parica claims in an interview "the only way Efren beats me because I am drunk." "Everyone knows I am a heavy drinker." I guess Mr. Parica's statement is correct. We can see he is drunk in this match and Efren's taken advantage of the alcoholic.
Still very sloppy for these guys. Efren missing 2-rail kicks, Parica missing the same shot twice in a row...pretty crazy. Great match though, thanks for this

@ 4:05 / Jose cannot make him shoot again. That is not the rule. It only applies if a ball is accidentally pocketed and not called. Just for the record.
At any rate, the announcer should share his knowledge about the rule. Does he think we are professional pool players? Are we supposed to know the agreed upon rules of that table? Give us a clue. Is there some law that states pool announcers should keep the audience in the dark? It's frustrating.
correct...they are professionals and will not call a foul for on someone for not calling obvious shots even though its call all shots and safes..he was clearly attempting to make the ball because that would have been the dumbest safe to try to play...what would it look like to other pros if he did attempt to call the foul and make efren shoot again...he would isolate himself from the professional pool community and would be labeled things I dont want to say because this is obviously a family friendly video for all ages...he would get no respect for the rest of his career especially if he did something like that and won as a result from doing it...promoters and sponsors would not want to have anything to do with him and will likely not be invited to play in many events...the announcer is talking without thinking first and I'm pretty sure that if he had time to think about it he would not have said that...

In a 30 minute interview Jose said Efren only beats him when he is drinking alcohol.
Yeah, I watched the interview yesterday. Weren't he arrogant? It was like saying Efren has to drug him to beat him. :) Anyhow, I don't think any viewer take him seriously.

This dude has the rule wrong, I believe-there’s not a called safety rule, where if you miss without calling safe, the other player gets to hand it back. I think they can only do that when you pocket a ball unintentionally or in the wrong pocket. And in called safety games, I think there’s a limit to how many you can call-2 or 3, after which a miss will give the other player the choice. (But I’ve only seen the limit on safeties-2-in seven ball.)
I think they’re playing called shot, not called safety. But these guys don’t seem to know, so I’m basing this on the rules I’m accustomed to.
