So you’re telling me this wasn’t a fever dream?
@Librarian Villager
You saw this along with the Nuttiest Nut Cracker in 1999 didn't you...? That's the only way this would feel like a fever dream to anyone who saw it that year.
That's how I feel my man lmao
Everytime I mention this no one has any idea what I'm talking about
Bro istg this was my thought
No! It was a timeless tale of Christmas spirit and adventure!
I used to watch this every year as a child. I'm 22 now and this movie randomly popped in my head while trying to go to sleep. I found this and now the nostalgia hurts so bad, I miss the old days.
23 and still watching it!
Makes me so disappointed it doesn't air on TV anymore
Never disappoints me
Everything you said just happened to me I was also trying to sleep and I randomly remember this
Dude I'm 20 and it just randomly popped in my head. I had it on vhs when I was 5. The combo of 2d and 3d animation weirded me out as a kid and I rememberes for some reason and now I'm 20 minutes in
Not me, a grown adult, crying over how sweet and beautiful this children’s Christmas special is.
It's apart of my childhood 😢😢😢
Not me either
There's something charming about the art style. My grandparents don't understand it.
One of my top 10 Christmas movies
I’m not processing the fact that this dropped in 99. This feels like something that came out in the 2000’s
This was nuanced. Genius writing, and aged perfectly
Am I the only one who never really thought of it this way.
The main character's names were Olive and Martini.
Mind blown 0.0
+animegx45 Also, Martini's voice actor played as Cypher in The Matrix.
And Olive says ever since "Tim was Tiny"
Woah. I havent ever realized that until now..
O-O 🧠+🧨=🤯
Remember when Cartoon Network used to play Christmas themed movies every year?
Cesar O. S. yes, yes I do
Same here. Is Cartoon Network will air a lot of Christmas animated TV specials on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2016?

I member. It was fantastic!
It's 2017! WHY IS TTG STILL ON? No wonder DC movies have been getting negative reviews.
Dude, I don't care how rough the animation is, the writing for this is incredible.
I think the animation fits this special very well! Plus it’s good to have cartoons that look different to others, as long as it’s justified! I can’t deny that bad animation exists, Angela Anaconda, Rapsittie Street Kids, Mr. Pickles and Legends of Chamberlain Heights being particularly bad offenders, but if you animate your show in a different way and it turns out to be well loved, you’re doing something right! Despite being a straight person, one of my favorite cartoons in the late 2000s is Rick and Steve The Happiest Gay Couple in All The World, and not only does the gay humor in that show crack me up, I like how they chose to animate the show with Lego-esque figures, something they pointed out in the DVD extras had never been done with commercial animation before! Olive here aired on Channel 4 here in Britain every Christmas from 2015-2019 and I’m very pleased to have gotten to watch it in that time, it’s a classic and I hope to show it to my niece (who’s 3 years old at the time of typing) someday!
The animation isn't rough, it's just stylized lol.
I'm getting some Parappa the Rapper vibes with the animation style.
After Ed Asner passed away, I was looking through his IMDB to see what he was in, and seeing he voiced Santa in this awoke a memory deep inside of watching this every Christmas. Glad I remembered this movie, and Rest In Peace Ed Asner. We won’t forget you.
What about the 1998 film of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?
@@brianodonnell4496 I never watched that one as a kid. Though Santa in that was voiced by John Goodman, not Ed Asner

@@LukaRioli We've just wish, this movie could be on Disney+.
This is unironically my favorite Christmas movie, the other being Polar Express. There's just something very endearing about Olive being so determined to help however she can, even if people don't believe her and even if she's not actually a reindeer. She just honestly wants to help, even if people laugh at her; This pup that's been called weirdo most of her life for not acting "normally".
Though wtf flea bud. That misheard convo was so messed up.
Yeah, I think he needs to get his antenna checked
@@sebwritesstories Totally; perhaps the movie would’ve worked better without the flea.
@@robbiewalker2831idk the trout fondue makes me lol every time!
Either the Flea did it on Purpose to Prosway Olive to be the next Reindeer. But, again, or, he has hearing problems.
Who else vaguely remembers seeing this on TV every Christmas season when they were little and now 22 years later reappeared in their memory
You know what, that postman didn't doubt that Olive could do it. Everyone else supported her, but they didn't really think she could do it. Martini only partly believed in her when they were at the North Pole. The Postman fully believed that Olive was fully 100% capable of saving Christmas. Sure, he mocked her once when she told him, but that doubt didn't last. He believed in her, and he was committed to stopping this dog from saving Christmas.
That is true
indeed, it was very selfish of that postman
It's funny I just thought of this too and I've seen this movie so many times before. I almost feel like there could've been a moment in the movie when Olive is doubtful that they tell her the postman wouldn't be chasing her so hard if HE didn't believe she could do it
You kinda understand where he was going with how glad he was when Christmas was canceling, having to deliver so much around the holidays without ever getting a rest can leave someone bitter but he made it some sound like he was the only one doing all the deliveries. There’s plenty of postal services that have to deal with that around the holidays but they put up with it. Postal service is in fact an essential job. Maybe he picked that job because it was all he could qualify for, who knows.
Well its noticeable that the postman and Olive knew each other longer
"I always thought the Pledge of Allegiance was about me, Richard Stands."
This special is much, MUCH funnier than I expected.
I always thought that the quote was "which it stands"
Wait... It isn't?
“Maybe we should have taken the train…”
It definitely got better with age 😂
Actually the quote is “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic, for which it stands one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice, for all.”
Olive’s speech to the bar patrons is one of my favorite Christmas speeches of all time.
Even if you aren’t feeling jolly, why make terrible memories for yourself to remember Christmas by? You don’t have to be super good, but does that really mean it’s okay to be bad around the only time of year where you don’t have to feel that way?
Such an uplifting and encouraging speech.
It's probably my favorite part of the movie thanks to the speech and the music played during it!

People make fun of me for liking this movie, but I honestly don't really care. Yes it's cheesy and the visuals are goofy, but the message is still there and it's extremely nostalgic for me. I remember when Cartoon Network would show these holiday specials the minute it was December, and my child self would always be ready with the Christmas decorations. Such good times those were...

Olive aired on Channel 4 here in the UK! Not just when it was new, but also every Christmas from 2015-2019!
I loved this special so much as a kid. I was hoping Cartoon Network would pick it up to be it's own series...but that day never came.
At the least I was hoping they would make a sequel to this movie covering the second Olive book "Olive my Love" where Olive has an adventure with Valentine's day

I wonder what adventure Olive gets up to now.
I love this special and a series would be interesting but to be honest, I think it would loose it's charm.

Out of all the jokes, the one that gets me is when Olive is in the mail truck and reads the package "To Olive, From Deus Ex Machina." That is hilarious. For those who don't get it, that is a film term where the writers literally use a random object or person to get the character out of trouble.

The Postman is probably the best Christmas- special villain I've ever seen! Most Christmas- special baddies just hate Christmas because they're kind of jerks, but the Postman actually has a rather valid reason for it (As someone who has seasonally worked as a loader at a UPS hub, I know firsthand what a nightmare the Christmas season can be for anyone working in the mail/ parcel delivery service; Still I got through it by instead keeping in mind that I was playing a small role in helping others have a happier Christmas). The fact that he's voiced by Dan Castellaneta, aka the voice of Homer Simpson, makes him even cooler, plus of course his villain song rules!
For that matter, ALL the songs in this amazing special are wonderful!
My mom is a retired 2nd grade teacher, and she said that one time when she showed this special to her students, they all applauded at the end of it!

Damn reruns of modern Cartoon Network shows like We Bare Bears, Teen Titans Go! and Steven Universe on Christmas Day 2016 but on the bright side, you can watch old-time Cartoon Network Christmas favorites on Boomerang. Go check it out and see for yourself. I miss the good old days of Cartoon Network Christmas.
Naminski Oh yeah of course ahah. I know that. Love to give Boomerang watches here and there. However.. not this year, I don't have that channel on my receiver.

Do you miss the good old days of Cartoon Network Christmas?
My all time favorite Christmas special. Always love you Olive.
i never knew there was an adult friendly animated christmas movie
also, you gotta love how they kept the animation simple since it was 1999

This is probably one of my favorite underrated Christmas specials I wish Cartoon Network would show this every year also the part where martini and the elf trying to fix the Rolex watch I always crack up laughing
Fox was the real best to air it, not Cartoon Network.
@@bradyanderson6311 No one asked you.
@@bradyanderson6311 Who would remember the 90's about all Christmas movies?
R.I.P. Ed Asner, who voiced Santa in this.
He also portrayed Santa in "Elf".
@@armorybrunotjr.3204 And in Regular Show ten years ago as well.
Does anyone else think that this is the most underrated Christmas special of all time?
Olive: The Other Reindeer
20TH Anniversary 🎄🐶
(1999 - 2019) Happy 😆
20TH Anniversary 🎄🐶
I celebrate it too late
@@CorinaDoesAnimation Don't you've ever missed about the 90's?
ah shucks, it's hard to find a cartoon with this amount of class anymore
This was so ahead of its time. If this was released today I can’t imagine the controversy it would get.
Drew Barrymore is really a gifted producer at this wonderful film. Her and Nancy Juvonen executive produced this film and accomplished it.
Love Drew Barrymore and Dan Castellantea. ❤❤❤
Tim: How dare you not destroy my furniture, keep me up with your barks and leave waste all over the house. I AM INSULTED. HOW DARE!
What a dick right.
To be fair, he did apologize and invite Olive into his house
Right. Lemme have my dog teach her how to be a dog then
This has always been my favorite Christmas movie next to Home Alone. The nostalgia is real. And crazy to think this was made by Matt Groening, many jokes on this feels like something out of Futurama tbh. Just in a kid friendly movie.
Interestingly, this special and the Home Alone movies were made by the same studio (Fox).
@@dbzfan30 Intresting
This was my favorite movie too. I used to keep watching it when I was little.
@@t00nvisi0n and FX must get a big christmas by airing those at all costs.
@@bradyanderson6311 Right?
December 25th 2021 and I just got done watching a strange small reindeer save Christmas. See you next year Olive.
It’s that time of the year again!
I still watch this every year.
This is such an underrated classic.
Cute plot.
Lots of funny and clever jokes.
Characters have different personalities.
Dan Castenetta as the postman is freaking brilliant.
Animation is very interesting and unique.
Perfect for the whole family.
Thanks Matt Groening for producing this!
Merry Christmas everyone!🎅🏻🎁
